Day 134 Why This Format Works

in #steemit6 years ago

I started a challenge of taking 100 days off to mainly focus on my health and overall personal development and used this account as a personal blog. I enjoyed it to the extend where I turned it into a year long challenge were I try to find a good balance between health, work and my personal life...

This format of making a daily post in the moring after I wake up with an honest look at how I'm doing really works for me and I believe it could work for other people aswel to adopt better habits in life.

It pretty much comes down to making a choice, that choice is not so much to change and improve your habits, but it is more about setting a goal and instead of forcing yourself to achieve the goal itself, you force yourself to report about the progress daily in a fully honest way.

When you do this, it will put yourself in front of a mirror day in day out and cause a lot of conflict in your head when you are not doing what it takes. The only ways to get rid of this annoying feeling is to stop posting or just do what it takes to achieve what you had set out. This mechanism brings about imporvement and the only thing you got to do is keep posting on a daily basis.

Steemit provides an add free platform that is easy to use, instantly gives you an audience and communities where you can find likeminded people with alsoa way to directly monitise everything!

I spend most my time behind my computer yesterday, but went on an evening walk to clear my head a bit.

The pull ups have become a lot easyer to do and I will up my rep count to 6 each time instead of 5.
It will likely be a low rep day tomorrow because I will be away from home most of the day.

This post will be upvoted by some upvote bots after 24 hours which should give everyone who showed support some extra curation rewards! This is the best way for me to convert all earned SBD into more Steem Power so I can continue to increase the support I'm able to give back on Steemit over time!

Thanks !

Wauw! No chocolate neither? 😉 Looks like you are doing a great job. Good luck!

Bedankt @terranova.earth !

Bomvol antioxidanten. Heerlijk!

It's pretty brave to put this on steemit with the wins and losses together. Do you think that at a certain point you'll have to stop reminding yourself to not do things because the reminder to not do it also reminds you that you could? Just curious.

The way I understand how it works is that there are neural pathways in the brain to the reward center. Those that get used grow stronger and the ones that don't get used grow smaller. The bigger a neural pathway the stronger the urge you have to do something. Using some discipline you can stop doing one thing and start doing another thing more. (this is the easy way to explain, ther are plenty of techniques like channeling or making emotional links that highly help in this proces) Over time this will adjust your brain what makes it all quite automatic.

So no, reminding myself of not doing things doesn't really reminds me that I could. A blog like this is really a great tool to get the moivation and discipline to do (or not do) certain things for a long enough time to reconfigure your brain.

Understanding also plays a big part and I do plan to write more about it one day here.

I hope it makes sense.

That's an excellent explanation thanks!
