I've now been on Steemit for two weeks, and here's what I've learned so far:
It's not really worth curating unless you have a lot of steem power. I've voted for hundreds of posts since I've been here but my curation tab only shows earnings for three posts.
I'm earning more from leaving comments than from posts. I guess posts disappear into the void pretty quickly, especially if you are new. But participating in discussions is more rewarding (more fun too, because you don't need to write essays, just contribute intelligently to the discussion like you would normally on any subject you are interested in).
Despite not earning from curation, I'm still upvoting, just cause I think it's nice for the author to know someone has read their post and liked it - I think people value the number of upvotes even if they don't bring money, because they represent human validation.
This isn't really a "get rich quick" place, more an "earn some pocket money from chatting with people on threads" type of place. I look forward to the variety of posts increasing so we can all chat about everything under the sun!
That's it! Steem On!
I got a comment upvote from @berniesanders
He is the only reason I have earned more from comments than posts.
I've been here less than 24 hours, and still mostly in lurking mode. But this post makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm looking forward to some pocket change. Maybe I'll buy a coffee after a few weeks of interaction. That would be a lot more than Facebook ever gave me!
it looks like you only make one or two posts a week. I joined yesterday but I think if you posted more often you might make more
Well I'm spending most of my time commenting - I find I enjoy it more.
I don't know if your right or wrong on commenting vurses posting, but the community needs people to comment. Otherwise its not a community its just a hustle. I've wasted hours and hours on reddit because the discussion on posts is so good, I get into arguments, I find peple who agree with me, I try and get upvotes, steemit has the potencial to be reddit but more awesome if I feel that same sense of community on steemit while also getting paid for coributing. Cool post!
That is true but the problem is when popular people get into large arguments and rip the community into battling factions
Your post has a Fresh-Koolaid grade level of nickles and dimes and hope to hit the jackpot ease of the 99%. This puts the casino gambling level on par with Robert Deniro and Joe Pesci
P.S. This is just a joke, so please don't downvote
Have a upvote!
Yes adding to the conversation and making good points can be rewarding sometimes, just make sure you don't look spammy or else you could get a down vote. And make sure you don't post on more then 4 articles per day or else you lose points.
I think you can comment as much as you like. You just can't make more than four blog posts a day.
Can you tell me where you saw that? I don't remember it from the white paper.
Hi, i love this, i mean, even if you are not a good writer you still can earn some profit just for share your opinions, steemit is awesome :-)
Thanks, that was knowledgeable.
Congratulations. Thank you, keep it up!
I wonder if you have noticed any change since voting power changed? Just curious, I did this myself for sometime, find a good article and actively discuss it in the comments. Seems it has died down a little since the hardfork change on 07/26. Curious if it has, or I am noticing incorrectly
I've learned not to focus so much on the rewards, but on the interaction. Add value of your posting, upvoting, or even commenting. If you get a reward, that's just icing on the cake:)
you've summed it up pretty well in this post!
