This weekend I decided to explore the Steemit Promotion function.
I spent 5 STEEM DOLLARS on the post above. I promoted for no gain, but to spread a speech I believe in and wanted to get as big an audience as possible within my budget.
I got zero uplift on every measure: Upvotes, Resteems or Replies.
Why?
Is paid 'Promotion' a no no with this community?
Is it just a rip off?
Or is it a feature/function of Steemit that just doesn't work?
Is 5 Steem Dollars not enough? How much is enough?
My desired goal when spending the Steem Dollars was Resteems and replies. I didn't get any, boo! :-)
I hope you can help me, thanks in advance and Happy Monday!
I luv u,

Really interesting question on the incentives. I am guessing that there must be people out there that know topics etc that do resonate and get likes. Otherwise d3po please keep going at your art.
Thank you for your support Mike it's really valuable :)
I've only used that function once for a video that someone made to promote steem - @lloyddavis had one of the lines in the video, but I can't remember the title. I don't think either the video-maker or me got any benefit, which was a bit sad.
I think researching tags might be a better way of finding an audience or entering some of the contests or challenges. For example @steevc posted a challenge about desert island books you write your post, put a link in a comment on his post and join in the conversation (just two days left for that challenge).
@mariannewest does a daily #freewrite post which is quite good fun and has a lot of people taking part. I like #marketfriday hosted by @dswigle and I saw today #wednesdaywalk. If you like beer, there's #beersaturday; or metal, there's #metalweekend. Those are just off the top of my head, I'm sure there's lots more. It's a good way to connect with others, and then you start to move off along your own path(s). Hope that helps 😎
Edit: oops, forgot #openmic.
That helps muchly thank u :)
News just in today I'm heading to Leicester next Weds eve or Thursday morning. Are you around? I'm hoping to see my god daughter too.
Wednesday evening is good for me, Thursday morning not so much, but at a pinch ...
