The idea behind SteemIt is that authors are rewarded for quality post. Authors are paid for entertaining readers. But you are correct, a lot of it is tantamount to begging, although not directly.

I wasn't questioning whether it should be allowed or not. I'm just interested in what people's views are about it.
well in my point of view. I would do it.
And if it works perfect and if it doesn't oh well... It is another form to fund money, probably a somewhere in between working and stealing so I would much rather beg than steal.
I know there is lot of people out there with the means to help and that will not represent a difference in their lifestyle because of how deep their pockets are but it will certainly represent a difference in the life of the people they help.
So if they don't mind doing it I don't see why people should mind asking for it.
