VLOG#2 Why Steemit will CRUSH fakebook

in #steemit7 years ago

My opinion of why Steemit is superior to Fakebook, and other social media platforms, and ultimately, why it will crush them all.

I agree, I like the community on here a lot better. People also post a lot of tech videos for bitcoin on here, which I can't find on YouTube. I have now found a place for my blog and a place to post my videos without being scrutinized for not wanting to post videos that don't follow the social norm.

Absolutely! YouTube is part of the problem in this content moderation. You are wise to join steemit! Breaking away from those platforms (for heavy use) has really opened my eyes to what they are doing. There is still allot of stuff I can only find on YouTube, but it's becoming increasingly harder to find, and lower ranked on their searches. Totally not cool! Thank you for stopping by!

yeah, social media sites only show what people want to see rather then the truth. On YouTube they pretty much say fuck you to the smaller channels, which isn't right. No problem!

That's right. Fuck em! Hopefully they don't try to strong arm steemit. That is actually one of my biggest concerns right now for this platform. Facebook was the shit when suckerburg owned it. Who knows if he sold by choice or not.. Wouldn't be hard for the government to make someone comply with their demands.

Yeah, I hope not either because I really like this website!

Another little quick tip. Minimize your upvotes, because it goes against your voting power, and your bandwidth allotment. When you first start out it's easy to run out. If you run out you will literally lock yourself out of your account, in the sense that you will not be allowed to post or have any kind of interaction with others, until you cycle, or fund your account. Here's a good site to utilize to keep track of your voting power. steemnow.com check it out! You will see what I'm talking about. It doesn't require your private key, merely your screen name, in which it scrapes the blockchain for your user data. Enjoy!

Thank you! I didn't know that and I am going to check that out right now!

Agree! You should check out this book by Eli Pariser titled "Filter Bubble." The book was copyrighted 2011, yet it is still relevant. Pariser's argument is that technology, in the form of algorithm imposed filters are censorship tools. These fiulters become bubbles blinding and separating us. Thanks for the video!

That sounds like just the type of literature I would be into reading. I will obtain a copy and check it out. I have done some reading on algorithms during my never-ending research on artificial intelligence. Scary stuff.. Thank you so much for stopping by, and checking out my vlog. I'm going to head over to your page now, and check it out. Judging by your description, I'm quite sure I'll be a follower. Take care!

I agree with you about content moderation. We live in Cambodia and have witnessed first hand the moderation of news pages in our newsfeeds. Don't even get me started on the advertising between videos. Never going backagain. Although I will keep my account open for being excepted my social norms and family aboard until they too move across! Great video :)
