"How About Pushing People To 500 Steem Power?"
more. As I delegate 100% of my Steem Power, my options to make a difference were slim to none.I have met many talented authors and amazing artists during my 2+ years on Steemit. Ever since the @asapers was born, I've been thinking of new ideas because I want to do
I do believe that curation teams and other supportive initiatives of all kinds are vital for continuous growth on Steemit... But I have been eager to have more of an impact. I was aiming for instant results and not the typical slow-and-steady type of progress.
2 days ago, I finally decided to share one of my ideas. An idea I had to push people to 500 Steem Power so people become more "self-going" and independent. 500 Steem Power enables the voting-slider and people sitting at ~450 steem are often struggling to push themselves.
They become more or less stagnant, and if we're unlucky, it results in declining motivation... Which obviously affects the entire platform. I wanted to change that, but I wasn't sure if I could do it or how to do it...
- So I shared one of my ideas with you.

example, people immediately put their gloves on and we successfully pushed him to 500 Steem Power in less than a day. We stopped being selfish for a few seconds, we sent some Steem to a fellow Steemian who truly deserves to be a minnow and we pushed him all the way. Dave is now a minnow due to community efforts. Many were surprised by the fact that @davemccoy hadn't reached 500 Steem Power, so when I used him as an
- That's how powerful we can be if we work together.
When We Had This Much Success...
Almost overwhelmed by all the comments and the support towards Dave and this project, I quickly decided to push another Steemian into the Minnow category along with Dave. - I realized that @insideoutlet, the driving force behind the @asapers project, and a person I admire was sitting at 496 Steem.
- I transferred 4 steem immediately and told her to power up.

minnows makes me feel powerful. It makes me feel that I am part of something more. Something bigger than myself. That's what I want you to feel with any of my projects. That you make a difference and that you matter.Knowing that both @insideoutlet and @davemccoy are
These last ~48 hours has been crazy. I've spent approximately 6 hours replying to comments and talking to people on Discord. The one person I've been talking to the most is: @erodedthoughts.

We Are Tired Of Takers And Talkers.
We have a few things in common him and I. We are both tired of talkers and takers.
I have probably heard more than a dozen times already, that people "want a middle-class", that we "need to support others" and that we "should manually curate". I have heard "we need to do something" and "can someone do something?"
- I have also heard: "people leave steemit because we don't support them."
Do you know something I haven't heard as much... Or have heard but in very, very rare occasions? - "I will do this." or "I do this."something. - Me and @erodedthoughts decided to put our money where our mouths are and do
- We don't just talk we take action.
We have both decided to donate 39 Steem per week, that we can use to push a fellow Steemian straight into the Minnow-category. steem per week, and @simplymike quickly followed suit. With that, we're already up to
There are many more users out there willing to sacrifice their own rewards and people who're willing to support this initiative and our cause in various ways...
- And we would love to have even more people on board!

This concept is new. This whole idea is in the early stages but we've already had tremendous results. We've brought two users to 500 Steem Power in 2 days. We inspire, motivate, help and support others by giving. We give and grow, together. The idea is to help one Steemian once per week. If you or someone you know have 450 steem or more, and are in need of a little community love, make sure to leave the name below!
We Are Now Looking At @Phoenixwren.
![phoenix.png](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmToZPJ7VyNLZ2a6KK29whZJLbmuf2h3GieWsMraurifGk/phoenix.png)
Due to the super-success we had with @davemccoy, we're now looking for someone else to help. Dave was quick to nominate/mention phoenixwren, and it makes sense to have the user we help to recommend the next person.
- @phoenixwren needs ~10.5 steem in total.
Count me in!
Awesome! :)
We can easily get @phoenixwren to 500
She needs ~10.5 Steem in total.
Three of us already have 9 Steem waiting but we would like to let others step up and join us in making minnows.
You guys push her to 500 and drop us some names of deserving Steemians who are over 450 SP and need a little push.
Thanks @erodedthoughts ... not surprised to see you here :) I'm in!
Not in the least bit surprised to see you joining in either. There is a handful of us who continue to find each other across the platform.
I am donating to @phoenixwren right now! Awesome job @hitmeasap! I love how this is taking off in literally days! The more we can get "in the club" the better! :)
Congratulations for hitting 500 Dave :) And through something as cool as this! I'm getting in on it too...pretty simple yet powerful way to show community effort!
I agree... Its an awesome thing! And thank you my Lovable Queen Lynn! :D
I hope you are doing well and tell Brian I said "hi" too :D
Look at you still on Steemit doing good deeds I see.
It's an addiction. Admitting it is my first and only step :) Brian keeps saying that I'm my own worst enemy, and he's probably right lol
Getting off now! Talk to you later :)
Stop already before you set off a twelve step parody post
Just between us... I am getting pretty addicted myself.
You should always strike while the iron is hot. :)
Definitely! :)
I am not surprised by your kindness Lynn... You're awesome! :)
Again, I think this is a great idea. But also I think this is a little confusing. I was glad @phoenixwren already commented that he had been able to power up, because I wasn't sure whether I should send him the Steem I promised to donate or not... Apparently, I didn't. Or do I need to send it to @erodedthoughts?
I'm confused... how will I know how and when to donate and when not to?

Sorry for not letting you know earlier @simplymike. My bad.
I was just super-satisfied with the progress, so I decided to push another user immediately. If phoenix wouldn't have been able to get pushed to 500 this time, I would've donated the necessary steem myself.
As we, (you, me and erodedthoughts) will be donating 3 steem per week, we will also push 1 user per week. I'll send you a message on Discord shortly, and fill in the details :)
Ok, thanks
I've sent you a message on Discord. :)
NEVER SEND ME MONEY
I am really happy for all three of the minnows produced so far. They are all people I know and respect.
Looks like a good indication of the potential for a project like this.
Will be interested in seeing what a more structured version looks like.Don't worry same happened to me. I only knew about it because I was talking to @phoenixwren and decided to take a peek and see how close he was. By then it was a done deal.
We are kind of riding the wave of community support trying a few little trial accounts. @hitmeasap, @simplymike and I have pledged 3 Steem each per WEEK to get a user over the hump. This week we have submitted 3 users to the community and a select wonderful group has stepped up and we have three new minnows.
This is in the trial and error stages; we are looking for community engagement in selecting new users to push ahead as well as pointing out wonderful users who are remarkably close as well as active within the community.
I don't think any of us involved want this to feel like a burden to anyone involved. That said help where you can, don't put yourself out, if you can't support every user submitted that is understandable. Our goal is 1 new minnow weekly but we will test community limits when we find users as close to 500 as @insideoutlet and @phoenixwren were, as it allows even the smallest accounts to throw in 0.10 Steem towards a community goal of a new minnow.
This is supposed to be a fun and exciting hunt for new minnows to make, as well as an easy way for any and all accounts to be involved in the process of making minnows. We are hammering out some requirements of how to select accounts and looking a little more at history and some other things.
I want to end this saying that this is one of the better projects I was lucky enough to find and be a part of. Everyone involved should be fucking ecstatic that we made three minnows in three days as a community, a real true selfless community without any form of return expected. This is how a real community works, selfless giving for the health of the whole group.
I can honestly say, I am proud of each and every one of you and the amazing things we have pulled together to do so quickly. Let's keep hunting and force feeding these minnows.
@hitmeasap I love your idea but not in position to help right now might topup my account soon than will join you guys you are doing really good work that no one else is doing.

Fuuuuuuuuck Yes!!!!
Couldn't have said it better myself :)
I recommend @anouk.nox. She has about 480SP and she works so hard, ever since she arrived here
Thank you for the recognition of my hard work, really appreciate that!
But I would not feel comfortable with picking me here, as I already had reached 500 SP a while ago, but due to circumstances, I had to power down because I needed the money to pay bills. It would be more fair to help someone else, but thank you for the mention :)
Great job you're doing here!
I recommended you because I know you've been working your ass off ever since you came to SteemItOkay, thanks for your honesty, @anouk.nox.
Well of course, I would not feel comfortable otherwise. Thanks for thinking of me though, much appreciated :) And I believe you are also one of the members that's working her butt of and helping others a lot, which I have lots of respect for!
This is really exciting to see minnows popping up too fast to keep up with.
So who else is almost there I wonder?Talk about a coincidence I didn't know about the post. Was just sending a reply to @phoenixwren and decided to take a peek to see how close the account was. And @phoenixwren is a minnow now!!
We would like some helping finding names of those who are close but so far away in today's current Steem payouts. We are all in this together and we are 3 for 3, let's get some list together.
Never did pay much attention to wallets. Now I am going to be looking at them all the time.
Will keep an eye open.
Just barely! :)
Thank you so much, everyone! I just powered up and made it!! YAAAY! :D

If you are looking for us to nominate the next person, I nominate @crosheille. She is one of the founders of #needleworkmonday and is sitting at 489.633 STEEM! :D
This is awesome @phoenixwren. Congratulations for reaching 500 SP! :)
Thank you so much for starting this project!
This post was shared in the Curation Collective Discord community for curators, and upvoted and resteemed by the @c-squared community account after manual review.
I absolutely love this! I agree about all the talk-but-no-action.
I see Phoenixwren has reached 500 already but sign me up for the next person who needs help. I don't have much but I keep some Steem liquid exactly for cool stuff like this.
Gratz on starting one of the few truly altruistic projects I've seen on the platform.
I'm glad you like it and we appreciate all the support we can get. :)
We're 3 out of 3 so far, and we'll be pushing many more people with time!
Awesome initiative, soon I'll hopefully be on better grounds financially (meaning not needing to cash out lol) and then I'll be gladly helping to push others along with you guys <3
Wow!! Just wow!! This is too overwhelming.. i had never thought there is this kind of initiative from people wanting to help others.
Its a great push! I hope this continues and people will be inspired to work harder knowing there are ample hands willing to pull them up!
Kudos to you guys! May you not get tired on the search of steemians who needs a little push..
I hope when my time comes, which is kinda far from reality, you will still be around! 😊😀
##Congrats to the new Minnows!

I am in for sure!
Awesome idea!! I've got zilch in terms of expendable Steem but I'll head on over to Phoenix's page and give them a few of my incredibly small votes! Every little bit counts, right?
