Bitcoin, Crptocurrency, Steem etc What next?

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Walking in to strange room filled with strangers you don't know, then trying to understand what they are saying in a language you have never heard before, That room is called STEEMIT

This is how I felt when joining Steemit, the language is Steem, Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency etc words I had never heard before, words I found hard to understand. I am still getting used to GBD and USD anything else baffles me.

I have gone 52 years without hearing anything about this, How? I watch the news, I am on social media, has the Bitcoin etc flown straight over my head, has it been kept a secret from me, well if it has its been well kept.

Is this the new world, shouldn't everyone know about these. If it wasn't for a friend on social media who passed this site onto me I still wouldn't have a clue. How does it come so easily to some people then too hard for others. What's next?

How do you explain this all to a person who has never heard of it, how do you make them understand when there used to dealing in pounds and pence or dollars and cents etc. How can you teach someone with instructions that are clear so they understand when the whole process its self baffles you. I talk to my hubby about this site, another who hasn't heard of this and he looks and sounds as baffled as me, even my daughters haven't a clue what I am on about.

I talk to members on here who talk about these as if its been around forever, they know everything there is to know, its easy for them but so hard for me. Is this what's going to take over the world, are we going to be dealing with this a lot more in the future. Is this going to be the norm or is there something else on the horizon.

Thanks Pixabay

There is bound to be more people like me, surely there is something or someone out there who knows how to make others understand.

Join the club @karenb54. What are we to do but to educate ourselves on our own when seeing a 10 year old with better comprehension on cryptos??

I am glad I am part of a club and others feel the same :)

Yeah. Got no clue with all these before. Digital currency is much easier.

Shared in facebook..loads in there dont have a clue either. Thanks for this post ;)

Haha very good ! In the welcome page or in the menu on its own , I think there should be a video that explains it all in easy to understand format ! Each item , step by step ! That would be a big help ! Great post steem on !♨😉👍♨

Step by step would be perfect :)

Hi, Karen!

Nice job! I think you've really done a good job of capturing how "normal people" feel when they come upon the "brave new world" of the blockchain. I hope a lot of folk will read it, and that some in the blockchain world will have compassion on "the average man" and work at better explaining and making better tools for "average joe" to participate.

Great post, Thanks! 😄😇😄

@creatr

I hope so, the more that understand the better :)

@heiditravels just put up a video to attract people to steemit ! 😊

Ill have a look thanks :)

@heiditravels did a great job.
Btw: someone needs to make these "@" tags work .

Interesting post dear friend @ karenb54 thanks for sharing
Great Year !!!

Thank you @jlufer :)

Im new to all this stuff too. I've heard of and have a basic understanding, sorta not really, how BTC works. Fun adventure though.

Its difficult to get my old head around lol

I think these things will eventually take over the world. It will not be a straight forward journey but it will happen.

Am I ready for that... One answer NO lol

RS & UpVoted!

Thank you :)

It's the same when the internet came along. You don't need to know every detail, just the basics. Check out bitcoin.com for info on the first crypto currency that paved the way. You are already ahead of the curve

Thank You I appreciate that I'll check it out :)

@marketingmonk runs a crypto university which has video tutorials, Check out his stuff at https://www.cryptoversity.com/

Thank you :)

Just starting to get past the 'learning curve' myself. I've invested more time researching & understanding blockchain technology than I have posting. Switching to content development and helping others onboard from FB.

Its hard when you have never heard of it, where do you start

It's very interesting post !
Congratulation @karenb54 :)

Thank you :)

There are likely a ton of people just like you. I have been around crypto currencies for a few years now, and I am still constantly learning new things. I consider my self very lucky to have gotten into this just for the sheer amount of information I have learned about how money and economies work, and I still have a ton left to learn!

Omg I have only stayed back in July, I have I much to learn

Lots of good people to help, and your still one of the early people :) The world still hasn't caught on.

I tell my parents about both demonetization and virtual currency\ bitcoin and neither of them know or even care to know, people like to live in denial when confronted with change it seems.

I'm trying to dive in to change but its hard when you haven't a clue

HI, don´t worry too much about trying to catch up. Relatively speaking it is still early days for crypto-currency when you realize that the internet itself is also just beginning. I mean the web that most people use via google/facebook and millions of websites etc ,is actually only about 5% of the entire web. The dark web is virtually a vast wasteland of the wild west and its size is a staggering 95% or more or the entire web. As well as this there is a new web being built which will be peer-to-peer networks, like MAIDESAFE for example. And now we have block-chain technology which is what Bitcoin is built on and is also what this platform uses. Yes there are many who were part of this new revolution at the beginning but the revolution has also only just begun. I got into Bitcoin only 2 years ago which in one sense was late but in another, early. I heard about it because I have always been a campaigner against the corruption of the banks and was looking for an alternative. I understand that Bitcoin is not easy to grasp, but don´t be too hard on yourself, for what you are looking at is quite possibly the most original world changing technology in human history and yes it will change the word for it is unstoppable. The reaction to Bitcoin has often be likened to the peace revolution created by Gandhi, who once said : "First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win". He was referring to his battle against the British of course. And we know Gandhi defeated the might of the British establishment without firing a bullet. Gandhi pretty much invented the art of peaceful protest. The same is happening with Bitcoin. First everyone ignored it. meaning the banks, the big money investors and the so called economics experts.--Then time went by and they laughed at Bitcoin. The banks laughed saying it would fail and called it nonsense. The money investors and the economics experts called it a ponzi scheme and it would crash. But Bitcoin did not go away and so the started to fight. The banks talked to governments to try to make Bitcoin illegal or have it regulated. In some countries is was banned like in Russia. But still Bitcoin survived and thrived. So now see banks trying to copy Bitcoin and now countries, including Russia and China are backing down and accepting it. Why, because Bitcoin is beginning to win and i it will win because it is the same reason why Gandhi won. Gandhi won because human beings fundamentally want peace and freedom. Bitcoin is based on the principle that money should be free for all and not just for the few. Once people get that then the revolution will really begin. 2 years ago a Bitcoin enthusiast said that when Bitcoin reaches 1000 dollars then it will explode because then it will get the eyes of the big investors. On new years day 2017 Bitcoin reached that figure. we also know that the next president, Donald Trump likes Bitcoin which is why Bitcoin investors voted for him. Crytpo.currency is here to stay and that means Steemit is also going to win because the platform is based on the same principle. Anyone who really understands what is going on knows that we right in the middle of a revolution. So, all I can say is, hold onto your hats everyone.

I'm holding on to more than my hats, its scary when you have never heard of it, massive change to what I've been used to

I thought I was among a few that feels like this @karenb54. Whenever I check my feed it reads like The Wall Street Journal and The Matrix had a love child.
I don't knock it, I'm very well versed, I do research when I need to know something and love to stay current and cutting edge. Most of the post I come across in my feed takes the human effect away from Steemit. I like to create human content to have an option away from all the digital coin talk (and of course it wavers pretty low). I'm no sellout though, I will continue to write funny, interesting pieces as well as my experiences,

Seems there are a few of us who are not up to scratch with all of this, I have been told as long as you know the basics your ok ..
