POCKET TOKENS EXPLAINED REALLY WELL! (by Pocket Token creator)

Pocket tokens? Without a lot of tech talk, would someone please explain what the deal or reason is? This seems to be difficult for me to understand? So, I have a few questions about this concept. Please answer in a way that even the dumbest user (like me) may understand. By providing some simple and clear answers may allow others that have the same dilemma as I do. This only leads to discouraging results. A loss of interest due to difficulty for some.

Why are they used or needed?
How does the user receive them?
Where are they stored?
How are they sent?

If there is any other information I should know or understand? Please add to the comments.
Thank you for your interest and efforts in helping me overcome this frustrating set back.

The Answers are in the comments in a conversation with Pocket Token creator @biophil. Along with fellow steemian @steemmillionaire
They explain it an easy and understanding manner for the slowest person (me) to get it.
Thanks to @steemmillionaire for sending a sample. Helping me do my first transaction.
Both receiving and sending and knowing balance total all executed successfully.
My thanks to @biophil for taking his time to share with us.
A very grateful THANK YOU to EVERYONE for their time in helping me out.
Maybe this post can help others too.

Why are they used or needed?

Why are the money needed, and why are we using them?

How does the user receive them?

They were generated via a process called Genesis, which was only active for two weeks. No new pocket tokens are generated after the initial genesis, so there is a limited availability of them.

Where are they stored?

They are stored in the Steem blockchain, as comments. There are bots, called confirmation bots, that are scanning the blockchain for valid pocket transactions and confirming the balances of each user

How are they sent?

I will just send you some of them, so that you get an idea of how this works.

pocketsend:21@naturalguy, this is an example of a valid transaction. Now your account will hold 20 Pockets.

@steemmillionaire OK I understand the origins. I kind of understand where they are stored. How is the recipient to know, his new or total balance? Why are these needed instead of using steem? I see that a sample was sent and I received 20 Pockets. I don't see anything in my wallet page area under balances or history? To send Pocket the sender would summon the bot wazup spelled out just as you did? Thank you for taking the time to help this slow to learn user. I really appreciate it.

pocketsend:11@steemmillionaire, thank you for example sample. I wanted to test myself

Thanks for using POCKET! I am small bot and right now I am running this code.

If anyone out there would like to buy Pocket Tokens, my wife and I are selling a bunch of ours at only 5SBD/100,000 Pocket Tokens.

Dumb questions doesn't exist. The only dumb question is the question never asked!

I agree, even if it is embarrassing to ask. It's even more worse to not know.

Your Steem account has 2,999,184 Pocket tokens. Does that match what you'd expect?

If you bought them from someone on Steem, it's likely that they sent them to you on Steem, not on Bitshares. POCKET is native to Steem.

They are being traded now on bitshares through @pocketexchange

Hi sir @biophil, this is my problem I bought 999,999 for 1 monero and exx007 send it to my bitshare vrbts account using this link. It transfer successfully but until not do not reflect on my bts wallet. https://steemit.com/error/@exx007/please-remove-the-following-html-elements-from-your-post-space

Oh I see. Contact @virtualgrowth and give him a link to your transaction to @pocketexchange. He does all the deposits manually, and since your pocketsend was buried in some random post, I bet he never saw it. In the future always do Bitshares deposits as replies to a @pocketexchange post.

Maybe you've already seen this, but the main resource is my original announcement post: https://steemit.com/pocket/@biophil/pocket-announcement

Pocket is a fun experimental cryptocurrency that I created to explore the possibilities of using Steem for purposes other than blogging.

@biophil I did see the original post announcing the two weeks releasing period. The thing is that I am not code literate and git hub scripts are above my skill level. I use a GUI fairly well, but scripts are a whole other realm. I am up in years so it is difficult for this old dog to learn latest tricks. Is pocket tech going to be something I need to force myself to understand? I participate in contests now and again. I have recently won a prize of Pocket and found myself lacking some areas of knowledge. Thanks for your time. Also that's pretty bad ass that you created that system/inter phase program/protocol whatever it is.

You should only try to figure out the details of Pocket if you think it's interesting! It has almost no market value right now, so at the moment you're not missing out on much.

I will say that you seem to think it's much more complicated than it is. Pocket does one thing, and one thing only: it lets you send tokens to people by putting the pocketsend command in Steemit comments. Then, when you send a token, you get a message in reply that tells you it worked, how many tokens you have left, and how many tokens the person you sent to has. That's pretty much all you need to know to use Pocket!

So there's currently nowhere you can directly look up how many tokens you have, but that doesn't matter because you can always check your own balance by sending 1 to yourself.

@biophil Excellent. I understand pretty well now. I was reading more into it than was needed. A bad habit I have. Thanks for your patience and taking the time to give me a lesson in Pocket. I really appreciate your efforts. Congrats on your creation too. Well done.

No problem at all!

thanx for your info about my upvote post. I have followed you and upvoted this post as well.

You're welcome. Thank you.
