When you first start out on Steemit, nobody cares who you are. You’re just another faceless mask in the crowd. A complete stranger in a strange land. And no matter how much you kick, scream and shout, the cold, hard fact is that no one will be listening. That’s just the way it works on Steemit and within society in general.
Always keep in mind, “you” don’t represent your user profile (unless you’re already a known celebrity of some sort), your “content” does.
I like your post but I have to disagree with that. I see lots of (newbie) girls posting their pictures writing so so posts but getting quite some upvotes. I'd say if you are good looking and make it personal then you have a much higher chance then writing some great scientific post or controversial post about vaccines. Some stuff just isn't popular.
I recently muted this Dollarvigilante guy because I wanted to make room in the trending posts. I tried to listen to this guy but it all came down to vague gibberish. But I guess people tend to like vague positive posts, they have room for their own interpretation I guess?
The same with those vague self-help and think positive books. I must have become cinical but that's just my mathenatical realisation of money: if someone has a lot of money, you must have less. It's just a mathematical fact and that is how the fiat money system works. So think and grow rich guys, yes I like nice stories but either a lot of people give you some of their money which makes one person rich, but you can't be all rich! Same way that you can't have your cake and eat it too!
Now I'm still struggeling learning and I think we all can be rich in other ways. Like happiness; if I give you happiness, now we are both happy. We have actually created the best and sound money there is! :)
Thanks for listening :) Thanks for this positive post.
Hey there, @nutela and thanks for the feedback.
I respect what you say and understand that there will always be some form of circle jerk or popularity contest going on. It's similar to real life. People comparing theirs to *yours" mentality which will always exist. But as I said in my post.
Exactly! Forget about the goings on of other steemians. That is something completely out of our control and comparing. that will only lead to bitterness and jealously over time. I know because I used to feel the same way in the beginning! What do you have control over? You and your actions alone! Look at my blog, for instance. It only revolves around words! Hardly any pictures to speak of and I didn't get any free handouts to get where I have. Just by pure graft and fun! My looks haven't come into it one bit! It's my blog that validates me. So let the good-looking girls and celebs make their money and have their say. Concentrate on you, buddy! :)
Stay positive! Do what makes you happy. :)
I feel you're over thinking the whole thing. The main goal of using this platform should be one thing: about having fun! And that is a choice you can make on your own without the involvement of anybody else.
Best of luck to you and I wish you nothing but greatness! :)
Thanks I was not feeling well, went outside and the rest is written history. I sometimes feel like popping out of my skin. Battling restless.
But it dunno no good to me.
@nutela For how different Steemit is, some of the principles it is based on are the same ones of the mainstream social networks. One of these is "i see boobs, i like it". lol I'm joking but I see your point and I'm sure people want to read also scientific or controversial posts. I think You just need to find the right audience and the right way to put it. It came to my mind a quote from George Bernard Shaw: If You Want To Tell People the Truth, You’d Better Make Them Laugh or They’ll Kill You. Cool, isn't it? 😄 as @ezzy said stay positive and keep it up!
