One crack baby flagged me about 3 months ago and I asked him why he didn't and he wouldn't respond. I ended up just letting it go even though I had a higher reputation and could have smashed him.

Sometimes it isn't even worth your time but sometimes revenge is a dish best served cold!

you nailed it.

You actually bring up a good point. IMHO if someone is gonna flag someone I'd personally like to see them drop a comment and explain why, doens't have to be a novel just something like hey common man low quality gotta flag ya. I'd respect that a lot more than just drive by flagging plus it helps the person who gets flagged understand why and allows the community to maybe step in if they don't agree with it. For example say I write a post about why Trumps immigration ban is good and someone flags me just because they disagree with the politics behind it as opposed to the quality of the actual post. Just an example but you get the point.

So I upvoted those two post that got flagged to show you that I over powered that guy who flagged you just as a learning experience. Now your post are lit back up because I have more power than him.

Yeah he should have explained himself for sure. The whole flagging situation got out of control for awhile last year. Some of the whales started flagging post that they felt were getting too high of a payout. There were "whale wars". It got nasty.

The thing that I do when I don't agree with a post is I don't flag them but explain in the comments why I don't agree with their position.

Myself and most others on this platform look at the flag as a way to mitigate abuse and plagiarism. It isn't like the thumbs down on YouTube although that is mainly what I use that for on YouTube.

I usually either upvote people's stuff or don't vote. If they click bated me into some bullshit I might thumbs down but that is rare. I usually just bounce.

Hey Brian,

Sorry to reply to such an old post this far out, but I wanted to tell you about something that I think could be an issue for a lot of newbies like myself. I started using steemwhales.com/clean-trending to downvote obvious trending trash that was being bot-upvoted.. Today one of those people totally wiped out one of my threads and I am sure they hit my rep score too.

I want people to now there is a penalty for trying to clean up bots in "trending." I didn't reply to him (and I was surprised he even let me know who he was by bitching at me that way,) restored my own post, and everything is cool.

Sure would like my reputation points restored though...

Here's what he wrote, which I thought was pretty unfair given my downvote was legit, and his was pure revenge (and false about me C&Ping others work, which I never do without proper attribution):

RE: A former iconic American car brand...FORD MOTOR COMPANY...cutting a slew of models...THANKS FREE TRAITORS!

You flag other peoples good work and your self copy paste stuff shame on you loser!

Fighting the abusers is going to be a rough road and I'm surprised I haven't been attacked by @haejin yet even though I have never flagged him since he is too powerful for me to take on.

Ever heard of this danyelk guy? He hurt me bad...

Hey buddy thanks appreciate it. I wonder if Steemit will come out with an upvote vs downvote. I think a downvote is fair game you don't enjoy something downvote it but yeah a flag I think like you said should be reserved for straight spam or plagarism or something really bad.

Something I've been wondering lately is if I should stay in my lane and keep doing the same type of stuff on Youtube or whether I should branch out and make other types of content.

I got a post/video I'm working on right now that's sorta about you, I think you'll find it pretty funny so stay tuned
