Welcome to my Steem Stats Report for Tuesday, July 11, 2017. All data is coming directly from the Steem blockchain and is based on UTC time.
All cryptocurrencies are on sale today and STEEM is no exception! The Steem price dropped by around 30% to $1.03. Fortunately, the drop in price is not related to Steem itself, as nearly every cryptocurrency is priced in red today. Ethereum crashed 25% and Bitcoin is also 6.5% lower. A bloody day for the cryptocurrencies market.
There's a weird spike in the number of votes on July 7th. My first thought was that it must have been some sort of voting spam, but I didn't manage to find out who added these votes. This large amount of votes wasn't done by one or two accounts anyway.
If you're using Steemnow.com you might have noticed the latest upvotes didn't show up. I've just fixed this. It should work again.

8. Steem Price Update
¯\___(ツ)____/¯ Don't miss out on my next post! Follow me @penguinpablo
Indeed, the price drop is not Steem related, all alts are falling. However I hoped that the Steem price should be relatively resistant for price drops in other crypto's, because in the previous bull market Steem didn't fully follow. Keep earning Steem! One Steem is still one Steem and if the fundamentals remain good, the price will have to rise again!
Steem on!
Hello penguingpablo,in honoring your awesome little tool i made a post about the upvote calculator. You find it here https://steemit.com/steem-help/@steemboys/upvote-calculator-what-is-your-upvote-worth-with-x-amount
Thank you! :)
Great to see everything going up except for the drop in Steem.
However there is some good for this as there is some really cheap steem to invest into and gain a lot of SP and profit.
We just need to be patient
You know, I'm not so much worried about the fallen Steem price, but of the fallen vote value. When you implemented the calculator, mine was at 41cent (100% upvote). Now its at 14cent - thats about 60% less, and I even clocked up another 40 SP during that time.
That voting spike is really odd. I wonder if someone has pulled off some scheme there.
SBD going below $1 means one pillar of support for the Steem price has been removed. Instead of it being profitable to sell SBD for Steem (maintaining the peg downwards) and SBD having more power to raise the price that way, it's now probably more profitable to convert Steem, which increases Steem supply and thus lowers the Steem price.
It is a minor thing in the big picture but it's definitely preferable for SBD to hover above $1 than below.
These prices look good at a $1... currently accumulating :)
whoa steemit alexa rank in top 5000 already? that's actually really good for this number of user accounts I think, especially considering people use alt accounts for various reasons
Thanks for these status updates. Very interesting to see how many people sign up each day.
I'm also a user of https://steemnow.com/
I appreciate your work on that.

Thank you for letting me know.
I've just fixed it :)
You might have to clear your browser cache if you still don't see the upvotes.
Thank u, nice job.
Awesome stats. Love my steem
Thank you very much for sharing) I follow you;)
Thank you for your information.
Thank you for this very useful information. I am looking forward to more recent information from you
Everything that goes down in crypto will always go up
We are growing. Upvoted. Resteemed.
Business has gone up!
Thanks for these status updates. Very interesting to see how many people sign up each day.
Is SBD pegged to the usd?
Yes, it's designed to always be worth $1 USD. Theoretically...
I use the Steem.js API to download the data from the blockchain and add it to a MySQL database. Then I use a php script to create the charts.
Sorry, I answered another question ;) Oops.
The market value of a Steem Dollar is dictated by the supply and demand of the token. Steem witnesses can increase the interest rate to increase the demand or change the 'price bias' whereby less SBD will be created (to decrease the supply).
If the price falls to low below 1 USD, no new SBD will be created anymore. In that case, authors will only earn STEEM as rewards.
No. The Steem-backed Dollar (SBD) is.
It's bad news....I hope to get back up again... thanks for that post my freind :)
Is this between steemit accounts, to outside accounts, from outside accounts in, or what?
Thanks for the graphs, by the way.
It includes all transfers from one account to another.
I dunno why it's displaying 1., should be 7.
Very good graph
Thank you sir !
@yann0975
Thanks for the update very much appreciated. I am still new to this and get confused about SBD, Steem and Steem$. Did I miss one ? I just used Steemit so far for putting my stuff here and making some nice contacts. More to come and still much to learn....
Cybermonday deals, I'm expanding my portfolio :)
WOW! Talk about exponential growth.. This is amazing. Clear proof that this is a great opportunity. Especially considering the fact that this info is influence the prices of the longevity of the currency. Good stuff :)
Thank you for those statistics @penguinpablo. Keep steeming :)

such a great report
number of posts dwindling daily too?
the price pulls it down huh
The daily # of votes uptick coincides with the dip in new accounts created so maybe they are related.
thanks!!!!!!!!!! Good job as always!
this is what I call a great job. I´m a steemnow user since my first day on steemit, but first time I come to this excellent post. Bravo!
I don't have this data available right now. You can find the latest power down stats on https://steemdb.com/labs/powerdown
