    Bitcoin is a competitor to Steem. The objective of Steem is to usurp Bitcoin, such is the nature of network-based markets (they are winner takes all).

      is there a way to get a breakdown for the best hashtags?@penguinpablo. Ned posted on this matter as well, perhaps a bit more focused on how much content producers got paid.

        Seems likely we have peaked, at least temporarily. However, while crypto might be going into a general bear market, I expect Steem (and these Steem stats) to be one of the ones that recovers more quickly.

        Steemit Inc are the creators of 90%+ new accounts. Historically sometimes their process slows down, for whatever reason (such as people using bots to exploit the fact that they give away free accounts).

        I don't know if this can account for all of it (I like the idea of fewer botmaking), but the date of the drop off does seem to correspond with the reports that South Korea might ban Bitcoin or crypto in general. And now we're back into another sell off with South Korea sending out mixed signals about a ban or no ban.

          Thanks for the daily report. Price-wise, it's been an awful night. As I write, STEEM's at $4.27 and that's after a bump-up.
