10,414 new accounts last week and the daily number of 'accounts transacting' is rising. That's the good news, but here's something else I found...
@steemit left us a memo in a transfer yesterday:
Moving STEEM to secure wallets. Steemit's STEEM supports our Mission, Vision and Values which are built on Steem and Steemit.com. Our vision is to grow Steemit.com into a vibrant communities web app, expanding the boundaries of community coordination and online discussion by incorporating cryptocurrencies as incentives. The company focuses on sustainability and decentralization by lowering run costs and increasing revenues by increasing stickiness through better homepage and community tools, and while always demanding a secure and safe, client-side signing experience.

They transferred another 1.2 million STEEM to @bittrex yesterday :-(
I actually don't understand their message. Steemit Inc. says they are moving their STEEM to more secure wallets. So storing STEEM on an exchange (Bittrex) is more secure than their own @steemit wallet? I don't get it...

3. Daily accounts transacting (daily average per week)
A 'transacting account' is a Steem account that made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain. This can be a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or sbd conversion. Users who only read from the Steem blockchain without interacting are not included. The actual number of 'Active users' is therefore much higher than the accounts transacting.

8. Steem Price Update
I understood they were moving Steem out of their account in case the proposed hf21 got approved and killed their accounts, but I'd hope it doesn't come to that.
I wonder who is getting all those new accounts. I'm trying to give some away, but not getting any takers yet.
The comments per post may be skewed by those people who just get comments saying bots voted :) I prefer human interaction.
That explains a lot. Thanks!
These results are definitely interesting. I wasn't expecting more accounts created, And the post count to be somewhat similar to before.
This could be a sign that things are going to turn around soon.

I sure hope so!
I have a friend who waited more then a month for his account to be created by @steemit . So I think that was just a backlog on free accounts.
It would be nice if you could refer to my post to understand the messages left by steemit.
3 recent hot issues in the STEEM chain
Greetings @penguinpablo,
@krnel's post sheds some light on the StInc wallet security issue related to some proposed HF to apparently hijack their accounts.
Also, I wanted to point out this user's abuse post below with your vote. Do you per chance have a blacklist for your front-running? I assume that is what is going on unless you think there is something redeeming about the content. Not seeing it myself.

Thanks for pointing out to @krnel's post. It explains a lot.
My voting bot upvoted this post. I do have a blacklist, but this account is not on my list. Can you elaborate why I should add this account to my blacklist? I didn't immediately see a problem with this post.
Sure we have had multiple reports on this user.
Their MO is to capture a short < 2 min video of a SM match and employ bots to boost them to over $15 STU on average. It's essentially lazy bot-assisted shit posting.
Background is a few of our colleagues in the BD community know this individual and the perps goal isn't to add value to the ecosystem but abuse bots to amass SP.
Your blacklisting would assist greatly in our collective's reward removal and the nullification of ROI via the B.A.S.P. method.
Heh I just acronymized that. Maybe it will catch on. 😉

Also, it was just pointed out that he was spamming and plagiarizing prior to employing BASP.

Who else is of the opinion that content quality is going down fast on Steemit?
Let's discuss here, maybe find a solution:
https://steemit.com/steem/@nabukadnezar/who-else-is-of-the-opinion-that-content-quality-is-going-down-fast#comments
I don't believe ned would pull a exit scam and fuck us all but I do believe he will sell all his steem gradually over time, probably to fund his next venture.
Some positive developments here PP. 😀

Moving in both directions here...big powerdowns, mainly due to one person, and many new accounts...Could there be a connection??
Well, @steemit need not pay there remaining workforce and might have to sell some of there steem to do so.
Good to see bot votes dropping faster then real votes.
Bad to set that Steemit in general is declining.

Hi
Second point is this: There is a product being developed by Fidelity Investments that would provide “offline cold storage” for exchanges. It’s called Fidelity Digital Assets and it’s a sophisticated version of cold storage that could allow exchanges to hold cryptocurrency in wallets not accessible by webpage hackers. I read the article recently and if it interests you I will dig up the reference. This form of cold storage on an exchange would give equal or potentially better protection to your funds, since it would be under constant surveillance. Fidelity created the company, recruited a former Goldman Sachs VP to run it and the entity currently has I think 100 employees, so it’s a serious development. It’s easy to see why moving Steem out of the Steem wallet might seem less safe, but I would like to raise two unrelated but pertinent points. I read @therealwolfs post replying to @neds post and some of the comments suggested that a future Hard Fork might somehow remove the Steem from some current whales. So if that is possible this could be a move to protect that stake or it could be completely unrelated.
Here’s the highlights of the article; Fidelity Investments... is launching a new company aimed at financial institutions that want to trade and store digital assets....The company will be named Fidelity Digital Assets, and it will offer offline cold storage for digital currency, described in offerings as-offline, vaulted deep-cold storage. The new company Fidelity Digital Assets is already said to employ over 100 people, and is reportedly being led by Tom Jessup, formerly managing Director at Goldman Sachs. You can read more here;
https://cryptonews.com/news/huge-news-top-investor-makes-a-splash-crypto-fund-s-ipo-live-2776.htm
My notation: I think this is also potentially valuable to exchanges, which can offer this service to clients who park large amounts of cryptocurrency in exchange accounts.
