Iam sure you heard that phrase..No pain No gain. Well, you can apply that here at Steemit
What is the Grind ?
I cannot take credit for this. I wish I could but Steemian @exyle here can ( Btw, check him out just an amazing and very successful blogger/vlogger at Steemit) I just watched an excellent video of his interview produced by @terrybrock and it is really a phenomenon . One that is a Reality for most of us ,newbies, here at Steemit.
The Grind is simply your initial phase at Steemit where people do not know you from Adam. Usually it takes months of constantly blogging, commenting, adding new Followers, and just adding value to the Community.
Slowly people will start noticing you. And your blog posts and Comments will start to gain traction and your Earnings will start to increase.
Why Embrace It ?
Unless your Jerry Banfield ( as @exyle aptly points out in video) and already have a HUGE Following from places like YT, then it will be necessary for you to go through phase called "the Grind".
So embrace it, eat it, drink it, sleep it. be it...well you get my drift :)
Paying Your Dues
You have probably heard this phrase. No different here at Steemit and going through "The Grind" :)
Conclusion
Below is the video I found and watched yesterday. Good stuff with @terrybrock and the interview with @exyle . Take a minute or so to watch as "The Grind" is explained.

Just starting out myself, sometimes it can be a struggle to make quality content that wil garner upvotes and comments. Perseverance will pay off in the long run, as you learn what works and what does not.
Yes, as I mentioned in one of my posts recently, persistence is everything! Don't give up - keep steeming!
Thank @riskybiscuts. I hear you, man. But you have a great attitude and yes I totally agree about perseverance.
I like how you point it out as "the grind." It gives it a sense of being "official." Perhaps, this mindset that I've learned from a successful Steemian, @purepinay might help. She says that you have to give Steemit time and effort as if it were your business. Go out of your way to read people's blogs, reply to comments, and of course, write quality posts. I'd be lying if I said I'd finally gotten the hang off this platform's features, but, I make the most of what I can. I hope for your success!
Thank you @thegaillery. I really make an effort to check out other peoples' blogs, definitely
Thank you! This gives me hope!
You might have not created the video, but without you, I would have no idea it exists. Thank you!
np @monoxid. :)
Oh yes, the 'Grind' is real and I am stuck in it currently lol I really hope I will come out of it sooner or later (hopefully sooner), but you can find a lot of interesting stuff here on Steem, that for sure. So it is worth it.
Thank you @cantdecide. I feel for you. As the others have said just keep on plugging away. We're all here to help each other :)
Yep, that's how I will go on, hoping to find a lot of people to help each other here :)
I'm beginning to see what people have talked about on here, about the grind. I had a really early success which has pushed my followers up but since, it hasn't been so great, just small amounts.
However, I've come to look at it as more like mining in a way, where the real work is in the quality of what I write and the effort I put into, as you say above, the connection to the community here.
I've had a really warm welcome, even won one of @alxmuh's contests. Bright point of the week there :)
Thank you for the video, I am very new to blogging/vlogging and I hope it will help me further my success here.
Thanks for this write up, it really helps
Mark's a great guy, we hung out for a bit during Steemfest.
You just keep posting good content and you will build up a following here. It might not be easy, but it is just that simple.
Thanks @getonthetrain. And good to distinguish between "easy" and "simple" ;)
Thanks for reaching out with this one, blogging is an art and the most necessary ingredient is the desire to connect. not just be heard, but to really connect, when we value others, perhaps then we discover that we already value ourselves and no longer need the clicks....cash, is always nice ha ha
Very well put and nicely said @freemoceanisnow. Connecting is really what I believe Steemit is all about !! Thanks again, following you :)
Exyle is definitely one of the first people that I began noticing on Steemit, along with the usual, such as Jeff Berwick. Berwick is actually the person who turned me onto the Steemit platform a year ago.
It can be tough getting through "the grind" but it's worth it, and the more you become active on the platform, the more you'll look forward to engaging with others even more so as time goes on. I know I have! Steemit is actually by far my favorite website to go to nowadays. I'm fortunate to have found this place while it's still in its early development stage -beta. I think we'll see the site grow exponentially and be glad we decided to stay for the long haul. I'm looking forward to seeing what this year brings with new innovation, tools, and a growing platform.
Absolutely no doubt, man. I look forward as well :)
Oh, I think we probably all do! =)
@robertandrew a far upcoming journey for steemians...
it has a long term plans
I suppose this I think same as "embracing the journey". I've found I've had to do it on every social media platform I've started on. At times it's taken months and others I've taken years to get going. The grind is a sometimes difficult and thankless task but it always pays off.
