This is, in essence, Steem 2.0.
A new project, based on the same steemit idea, but with a better design that incentivates curating and providing a better governance system.
Hey, that's what I just wrote as what I hoped he would do. It would be difficult, though, to start all over. If there was a way to transfer my steem, and my account, and everything about it, to a place that discouraged self-voting and bought bot votes for the trending page, and allowed a more organic and creative trending page, then I would be remiss if I didn't at least look into it.
It's no secret that Dan hates Steemit.
He is going to build it and he is going to compete... he is by no chance getting back here, and I would even wager he'd be happy if this would burn, the way I read him speak about this.
Finally, I'm going to enroll there for sure, I'm going to be an early bird this time around, I have EOS, so if it airdrops to holders Ill get an headstart, but I won't even need it as I'll be pumped with a new system to work on...
As for STEEM, will it depends, Dan's views are unrealistic for the most part, too extreme on one side of the spectrum, it works in a small community but on a platform for the masses his vision is tought to last the test of different personality types.
We'll see... I'm excited, but at the same time cautious.

I really hadn't paid close attention to the controversy regarding his beef with Ned and/or other "gossip / news," so am curious if there's anything in particular that'd sum up what I've missed to clarify his stance...

From my little experience so far on steemit: below are few of my findings
-encourages originality
-Not a platform for the indolent ones
-Rewards the diligent ones
-Well secured
-Ease of operation
-Encourages socialization.
Steemit it has gone a long way to be dumped. It is easier to develop and improve on an existing foundation than starting a new one.
With the advent of decentralized systems like @steemgigs, busy.org (which i got to know about today) i beleive steemit is going to reach its peak. These are challenging times, it only gets better if we collectively put in our best to see that steemit rises again rather than leaving.
They work more on this beautiful platform rather let it decay.i see potential immeasurable growth potential in steemit.
Yesterday i got to also know that steemit was 2yrs old, i had to use the opportunity to test the new busy.org by making a quick happy birthday text.
It was really wonderful.
My worry in steemit is the way peoplw now abuse the voting bot...they no longer post quality content because they beleive they can always make the money. I agree to the fact that steemit lack a bit of governance......
you just haven't been here long enough. just wait til you post something that upsets one of the tyrants that owns bots and 30 accounts. say goodbye to your rewards.

it's like 95% probably the latter, building a community, even a sub 1 million one, and a brand isn't an overnight event, and if freedom is dan Steem holding has anything to say, he still owns millions of Steem....and why hasn't he cashed out for the last 12 months if the plan wasn't to integrate, the real mind blower is this:

To be honest, That short expression by Dan is very worrisome and could be easily misjudged by grapevine. This is about money and every topic regarding money is a sensitive one. Dan should not have made such short remark if I am to say something on it.
All your concerns in this article, of course, are possible scenarios. We keep keeping fingers crossed.

You are an investor, and I can understand your anxiety over your digital assets. But believe me and rest assured, steemit development is increasing all over the world. Even if the system changes may be a better upgrading. There will be speculation amid developments and issues that concern investors. So stay alert to all possibilities, however, the game and fluctuations play a major role in the currency of the crypto is no exception to the STEEM currency. Hope you have more success.
Hopefully steemit progresses towards a better and with a high level of security.

Maybe an up-grade to steemit would be a good idea as there is still bugs here and there. I wouldn't like to see the steemit platform crash as everyone pulls there crypto out. this is one place i spend most nights on and i love the content that I read.
What would you thin would make this platform better? I would like to see less spam that is my biggest issue.

spam, beggars, and bots would definitely be at the top of my list. and some sort of solution to rewards inequalities, as has been addressed with the whole #rewardpoolrape war lately...
Yep, Alot of people work hard for there up-votes but then others just get up-voted and down goes the reward pool, my problem would be that if i was to start flagging this could have an impact on me post in future, so I stay well away from the war.
Another thing i would like to see for steemit which came to mind would be notifications, so if some one commented or replied to a post it would pop up on screen. would make life so much easier, I have been reading posts but 11 minutes ago you replied, if i had notification this message back to you would have been nearly straight away.
I’m not 100% certain, though think that either busy.org or one of the alternative Steem app/interfaces does have a notification feature like that. Coulda sworn I saw it at some point when checking one of them out, though not sure which exactly...

I was in a group where this issue was discussed, I would certainly love Steem 2:0 which effectively solves some of the downside of Steem blockchain. I'll keep my fingers crossed till then.

Left for me DAN should go for a new platform backed by steemit or eos preferably. Getting qnd upgrade of steemit blockchain when NED is not outrightly in support points out danger.
But still on the second thought is a beautiful thing steemit 2.0 come to play.

Cashing out and letting Bernie burn this place down sounds like a nightmare lol! I just got here! Perhaps that's better though, I haven't had too much time to invest my life into it. The BM is so mighty that I think the only thing can kill his own porduct, Steem, is another product developed by himself.
If he is really going to build a new blockchain to be Steem competitor, they might fight each other to death or, they might end up evolved to two different product and co-exist well together. We shall see.
could end up serving different niches/tribes/markets, too.
considering there's 7 billion people on this planet, it'd be safe to say there's enough room for both and more to each serve their own positions...

Brief history:
Dan Larimer first created Bitshares. (And was the first to publicly talk of the concept of a blockchain-based "Decentralized Autonomous Corporation" - which later got picked up by mainstream as the DAO - Decentralized Autonomous Organization.)
Then, he left Bitshares and went onto create Steemit.
Then, he left Steemit and went onto create EOS.
He never did go back to Bitshares, but left it to the community to continue. Same - so far - with Steemit. Thus, it "could be pretty surprising" if he were to come back to work on Steem - in particular, because there was apparently some differences between him and Ned, Steemit's CEO.
No further analysis required, or no further story to report. Just have to wait and see what happens...
It may be something as simple as steemit graduating from beta status.

The "steemit 2.0" could be a good thing for steemit. People tend to perform better under pressure. Who best ensures pressure than a competition offering similar services? I could see that happening. Basically pulling over the userbase to his site. But then, it's a big risk. He's better off joining forces. But I guarantee you if there IS another operating system for steem, he's doing something that will get him his baby back. This is his baby, and he left it. I just could never get over that. I always felt like he'd come back. If there is a steem 2.0, and it's not just a saying, then I betcha he'll try to steal the userbase. But it would be smarter for him to collaborate. People would be in an upheaval.
The first thing he should do is manage the purchased bot votes and manage the trending page so promotionals go to the promo section. And self-votes count as promo votes. This is @nonameslefttouse's idea, and I second it.
EOS == Steem 2.0 :)
