I know I don't make the best posts on Steemit but I put time and effort when making them, and people appreciate that. Each and every follower is important, so it's not that easy getting people to follow you on Steemit compared to other sites where the You-Follow-Me-I-Follow-You model works. You need to really work for it.
Bringing the best of the Internet in one place is no easy task, and there is a real competition for quality content. So if you are new here the last thing you should do is ask people around in the comments to follow you.
If you want followers just engage with people, write good content and know that Steemit is different. Be a good author and curator, write actual comments and the followers will come to you. I know it's an obvious fact, but many new steemians fail to do exactly that. Shame!
Here are some ways that will bring you more followers:
- Write good posts. This is obvious.
- Comment only on the topic. If you read a post about animals, what is the point in putting your introduction post in the comments?
- Chat with people over steemit.chat, surely you will find people of similar interests.
- Follow power users. This is where the action is. They make great discussions you can join. Learn from those seemians.
- Reputation is everything here on Steemit. Be polite, be nice and your reputation will grow, people will trust you more.
- The more followers you have, the more will follow you. Be patient and slowly build up your followers' circle.
- Don't think about the money. If you are just hunting rewards people will know. Steemians are smart. Do not underestimate them.
- Contribute. Maybe you can do a Steemit-related project? Paint a picture with the Steemit logo, do a song, invent the steem-dance...I don't know, think of something. Steeminas like everything Steemit related.
- Don't resteem that often. I already pointed that before in my last post. People follow you because of you, not your resteems.
- Do not beg for anything. Make people want to come to you.
There are many other ways you can think of if you put a little effort. Just know that it takes time and dedication and there are no shortcuts on the way to success. Until next time. Steem on!

Bingo.
They will come, trust me. Just don't focus on that. There are great posts with little or no payout and some really basic ones with huge payouts. So, things work a little different. I've made more money with memes than my music. This doesn't mean my music sucks, at least I hope so :)
Build it and they will come, yes. But more than that.
FWIW, I think that #stellabelle has written a stunning post about Steemit, do check it out:

@stellabelle is great.
thanks, I'm experimenting all the time. The follow me follow you was so 30 days ago :)
This is a great post and it makes so much sense. This place isn't a shortcut to making money and too many people treat it as so. Engaging and taking time to read others post and responding with thoughtful comments is the best way to get followers. Well and writing good content.
Good luck!
One important thing is that you have to choose the topics you love(atleast when you are starting out). If you are interested in a topic , you will not get bored easily, even if you are not making money on your blogs. Just express yourself and learn new things everyday . You will gradually become more knowledgeable on a topic which will reflect on your content, and you will be able to provide value to others. And then people will surely upvote you.
You got it!
I am not really sure about
I find so many great new users and really cool stuff when I visit my friends profiles here on steemit.
I often restreem when there is something poetry related. A great post or a contest. Because I know many followers like my poems and I want to show them a bigger variety.
Lately l have been restreeming a lot of roses. I just love looking a those pictures and from time to time I go through my profile and just enjoy them there.
What do you think?
Sure but what happens when only one of 10 post on your blog is original and everything else is just material by other people? People want to read from YOU, not the people you follow.
Alright. There has to be a balance of course. I try not to restreem more than four posts between mine. But then again, when I visit other profiles I specifically look for the users posts in between the restreems. Do you think this is an exception?
I think there is no ONE right way to do things. You should experiment. Prove me wrong. What works for some people doesn't mean it will work on all. These tips I give are mostly for new steemians.
I was just thinking, If you really like posts with roses, why not make a post about it? You could add all the nice pictures plus a link to the authors. Anyway, you already know your way around Steemit so putting some resteems in your profile is not a problem. But if you just start and resteem all the time it's less likley to get followed because these posts are already there.
I see what you mean. Of course new need to show what they are about first. Thanks for chatting with me.
Anytime.
If I'd gone all out for money from the start my experience wold have been very different. I might have made more earlier on, but I wouldn't have formed the friendships I have here now. In the end I did okay anyway, but it was by having fun, not by 'working'. Steemit is made of people
This is STEEMIT GOLD RIGHT HERE! 🙌🏼💯
Bravo dobri saveti !
the bulletpoint list is good, I have similar thoughts about it, lots of new people coming in trying to beg for votes or follow-for-follow and really fixated on rewards value when they should just be trying to contribute
Once they realize it's not going to work they will have to adapt or leave.
Nice article and good advice. Thnxs for letting me know about steemit chat.
It's a nice place to find new followers, and you can promote your posts.
Great post, will definitely try to execute your tips and hopefully one day become a whale :D
One day :)
Cheers for the advice @rossenpavlov! When I create posts I like to think more on the lines of how can I help or entertain people! This way even if my posts don't get voted up, at least i'm helping someone out there to smile and be happy! :-)
Great tips, thank you!
People follow you because of you, not your resteems <3
Very true.
I totally agree, the same what I posted below. I don't reesteem, because i don't want to hide my posts. I am more into upvoting and commenting on the blogs that interest me or that deserve to be upvoted. Especially from the new ones. Plus, my posts alone are already making money. Writing is my passion so everything will follow, I don't get obsessed with money or begging people to follow me or resteem my posts. If they like it, they will do it. I just signed up a week ago, and you'll see that I am more focused on the quality of my content.

You are talking like a true steemians already! Steem on!
Gracias, poco a poco he ido aprendiendo, y tomaré muy en cuenta estos consejos. Saludos!
I do agree with your post. I see many introduce yourself posts that ask "How do I quickly make money?". I usually post a cordial reply with "Well, more than likely you are not going to make as much as you would like in the beginning. However, if you genuinely engage the community and put out meaningful content while trying to make it better you will grow your following". Lately, I have been directing them to steemit chat and a post I made about growing your following that includes story posts from fellow Steemians that helped me greatly. I hope other Steemians begin to realize it's not all about take take take. Greed and the quest for Power have caused many of the problems we see in the world today. Sure, do we need money? Yes, I get it; we do. But the blockchain and this community is about the value you give to the community and your value will be returned in your followers and with that; upvotes. It's a truly reciprocal relationship and I actually enjoy that.
You write good information thats easy to read! Enough for me
Great info, thanks for the help.
Excellent information, especially for a newbie like me. Thank you for your post.
How do I resteem post?
Have no idea.
Good post, like this.... amazing
Hi @rossenpavlov, one of the points you make is about "being a good curator"; I am new to the Steemit platform, and already notice the need of good content to create real followers. But I still don't get what a "curator" mean... or, how to be a curator ... and what are the benefits of being (or becoming) one. Can you through some words about that? Thanks in advance! Nice post of yours.
