Great article. Thanks. (upvoted + followed)
I just wrote a post about the UPVOTE-GAMBLING issue and a proposal for a solution.
The problem: People upvote without even reading...
My suggestion is to limit curation rewards (via upvote-power) if you upvote on the feed (thumbnail mode).
Only if you opened the story you can get your maximum uvote power.
At least, it will force people to actually get into the posts... and maybe read them.
Cheers.
As long bots can use an api to vote this will do no good at all.
Indeed, a lot of the curation that is currently happening is done through bot behaviour. Even my post here was targeted by bots.
@anyx This whole thread brings up a very interesting point about Steemit's Social Elite and how this site has very quickly been descending into one big giant "power grab" as it were. Whether or not we'll see this thread a make an impact is yet to be seen but it would be nice as you said, to have a bit of transparency. It's something the 99% always ask of the 1%, but never quite seem to get in a manner that everyone deems satisfactory.
Quite frankly the whole idea and concept of voter nullification makes me question the underlying principles and motivations for such a radical decision. I'm still not even quite sure what problem it is supposed to address, but it seems like an overly complex methodology of censorship meant to deal with very edge case scenarios. Regardless of the principles or motivations at work here, it would most certainly open the doors wide open for abuse by the unscrupulous.
I definitely agree, and encourage you to write these thoughts on the github issue as well! (As it is possible that my post will fall through the cracks before the morning.)
I think this is an ok solution for the moment, but ultimately will be temporary as this is just the interface of steemit.com, there would be no way to enforce that on the blockchain itself. Overtime other applications for phones and the web will make their own choices in that regard.
Here's the link above. But let's not pollute @anyx 's excellent post.
I agree, you have to open the post to up vote it!
Yes . It sounds a great idea. For upvote, open the post.
This does not work. You vote first or last. Example- you vote first. You have a large percentage of the award. But if the post will be over a hundred votes or more, you will get no more than 0.001%. if you vote after or close to the payment you will receive or not or what is still 0.001% of 25% of the curator of the award. So I do not understand your panic over voting. In voting not to make money. It's all about reputation. I checked. I voted and immediately after and disorderly. I'm always guaranteed to receive the same number of awards.
Authors advantageous to our voices. Whales profitable but they do not vote - that's where the problem is. A small fish thought to capitalize on votes. But this is not the case. It takes big time to be a whale.
