I agree with positive. Youre talking a big game, but at the end of the day, your post made money because you had the opportunity to promote in ways not available to most users. You could post your laundry list, and bot followers would still promote it.
Call it sponsorship if you want. But what you can't call it is available to most users on this site.
More experienced people, of people that have a good reputation, have many advantages.
Being against this is at least unproductive, if not stupid.
I am not a bot, and I do not know in real life a single person involved in Steemit.
And I always try to put my upvote to @rok-sivante and @andrarchy. Because I like what they say.
Should I decide to make a living on Steemit, I would for sure use a bot, just to be sure to upvote good content, that I believe deserves a good reputation.
For me, this is not unfair. If for you this is unfair, probably you should use the blockchain technology to create a new social network in which every person has the same weight.
I think such a social network would become like our "democracies": a place full of bullshit where the most able marketing experts can manipulate consciousness of other users just to gain power.
For sure there is an eccess of power of some accounts, some because they are founders and some because they invested a lot. But this is fundamental in this startup period, because only people who invested a lot in this project is committed to make it growth in the most fair and wealthy way.
Hope you understood as my english isn't so good to talk about complex topics :P
amen, brotha.
your english was fine throughout this. well-stated. thank you for your contribution to the discussion, as it is much appreciated.
yes - the founders OUGHT to have some serious weight to invest, because it is THEIR vision. like any company that hopes to succeed, they must choose their team wisely - who to invest in that they feel have the skills to help grow the venture into the full vision.
keep up the good writing. you know what you're talking about and it is of value to the community. :-)
i agree with that they ought to have some serious weight to invest. But their votes should not be the only ones that matter (they are, currently).... DO i think the founders should have the same say as someone that say put 10K into steem power? No, they should have more. But how much more.
ATM, a whale vote is worth around 20,000 times what a $10K investor vote is. And most of the founders control multiple whale accounts. And no, i don't know what the right porportion is, but i think that what we have is too much.
If nothing else, having whales with so much clout that no one else has a say is going to deter investment. I know its stopped me from powering up. I have about $30K worth of steem, but why invest it to bring my vote value up 2 cents? Ultimately, as people start to realize this and power down, its going to hurt the value of the currency and the payouts.
if I had promoted my laundry list, I would not have got onto a bot list.
the whales using bots are on the lookout for quality content. anyone who consistently produces value over time will get noticed. it took me weeks of writing every day all day to get on a bot list.
at this point, I might be able to promote a laundry list. but the whales do follow up on what they're voting on - and if found out I wasn't producing the value they wanted to invest in when they put me on the list, I'd be taken off it.
you create your own opportunities on this site. I was making money before on any bot lists because I was producing VALUE. all users have an equal opportunity to become a student of value and produce it. and in the end, we all get rewarded for the value we produce.
want to bet? Im serious, btw. Do you care to make a wager on it. I think it will prove an interesting point. Say like 100 steem? If youre interested in a neat social experiment, shoot me an email [email protected]
BTW, lest i come off as an ass, i have read and enjoyed your posts. Personally, i feel this particular post is somewhat facile. But im not saying you write crap... there are certainly way way lower quality posts out there that make more money.
