Steemit is a social Network, which mainly rewards content creation. But let´s be honest, without anyone interacting on our Posts with some quality comments it would be quite boring and useless to write about anything at all.
Therefore every single one of us should really consider to use more and more of the available Voting Power to upvote quality comments along the way instead of just putting them out there on other Posts. Let´s finally start to reward the people taking the time to read our words & to reply to us in a proper way!
Let´s finally start to transform Steemit to a Social Network instead of a place packed with Spam and Plagiarism. Upvoting comments will, at least in my opinion, just be one step towards that goal but it´ll show everyone that there is some value in actually using the Platform instead of just putting some crap out there...

If you look at my blog, I do comment on posts that I upvoted and hope to see reply then I know this person has also read my comment. Whether it is an encouragement or a share experience comment, it feels good if someone reply me. But unfortunately most do not reply or they have no time to go back to see the comments. I tried to go and review my blog to see if someone has commented but that is if I have the time.

Interaction is the most important thing but just like you indicate, it´s time consuming. I try hard to get back to every single comment to reply to it :) It´s good to know that I´m not the only one doing so ;)
I spend almost all my time on here commenting and reading other people's posts, rather than making more posts about the same crypto news everyone else is posting on at the same time.
I feel more people will get to see my messages this way instead of posting to my few followers since I'm new. And sometimes the upvotes can be surprising, getting close to the posts value.
Comments are really very very valuable and that´s why I as well strive to answer to every single one that my Posts get. I honestly go to admit though that I should spend more time on commenting other peoples Posts as well so there´s some room to improve ;)
I wish too... But some days I barely have time to even write my own posts.
Why not use those days to spread some comments instead? ;)

Good comments and discussions on posts are just as valuable as the content itself. How many times have you scrolled past an article to read the comments? It's also great because when you upvote a quality comment it gets bumped to the top of the comments, you literally have the power to control the order in which your viewers also view comments. Priceless!
Oh that´s a good point. I think I´m one of those scrolling to the bottom a lot just to read peoples opinions / answers on a Post and just like you say it´s cool to have the best ones right in the top :)
I agree on that but is very difficult to capture attention in a comment. Instead in a post you can manage your own subject but however I pay attention to good comments and you can notice when the person really enjoyed and understands your post.

I really think that good comments are capable of capturing more attention than a good Post. Comments are more straight forward on what you really think and that´s what people are interested into :)
I really liked this post. I really like when good comments get voted because it moves them to the top. I do not like having to search for the good comments surrounded by spam.

We need both good content and good comments. After all, Steemit is a social site and it's hard to be "social" if there's only one or the other.

Upvoted! Quality comments lead meaningful discussion. I remember I had a post talking about the combination of Art and Science and had a good discussion with steemit friends! :-)
And that´s the way it´s supposed to be. Just like in any other social media the comment sections are mostly the more interesting part :)

I've been doing this. I drop a 0.02SBD(my 100% upvote is only 0.08) on at least the first two good comments made to my posts.
Word of advice. Don't bother with giving out a 0.01SBD upvote. All you are doing is burning up your vote power. If it's the only vote the comment gets the system with through it out and the commenter won't get an upvote reward. Instead click through to their feed and upvote one of their posts that already has some upvotes.
I actually disagree with you on this. Rewards are always paid even in case they are below a value of $0.01. Further I want people to know that I valued their comment, so upvoting their Posts would lead the wrong way.

Curation rewards on comment upvoting is pretty low since genetally posts attract more upvotes than comments. But, it's still worth encouraging engagement via the comments by upvoting them. For minnows, a well thought out comment is worth more than a penny upvote on a post.
Not always. Upvoting a Post together with 100 other Steemians let´s you end up with a very small portion of the reward while you receive a big one on comments. Most important though is to show others that you value their words, which is just priceless and can´t be compared to any curation reward :)
Absolutely. If it's a good, well thought out comment. And maybe occasionally when it strokes your ego just right.
There are some awesome posts on SteemIt. Well thought out, well written, and even well researched posts. (of course junk and spam too) But the most fun I've had is in the comments. You can have really awesome conversations that occasionally go off in another direction. Upvotes encourage this.

I comment on people's post all the time just because I know they'll upvote. Might be a little "greedy", but it gets my name out there and is a way I can almost guarantee rewards for the time I put into steemit.
Why I almost always, as you pointed out, upvote as many comments on my post as I can unless I'm trying to rebuild my steempower.

Too bad since my vote slider didn't unlock yet, I can only do about 10 upvotes each day and 2 of them always received for my posts. (and my vote isn't strong... only $0.01+)

I unfortuneately haven't had much luck receiving votes or rewards on comments. I've posted some good quality ones too. I guess that's just part of the game though. Sigh.

Quite often I don't have time to write a good post but I always make time to read as many as I can.
I always leave a meaningful comment on them all.
If it's a post that I enjoyed, then I do a 100% upvote.
(I don't use the slider - it's 100% or nothing)
I try to use my voting power as often as possible but I never vote without leaving a comment first.
With all the Auto-voting and Bots, I think it's important to try and preserve the "human interaction".
The Human interaction will in the end be the one thing that'll mke Steemit big. In case that's missing this place will be deserted soon enough...
How very true. It’s a great way to encourage the newbies to be more social as well. I try to give a upvote to the commenters on my posts, well at least the ones from non spammers.
Exactly. It´s not all just about posting and getting the rewards. It´s a social network that we got to build to get steemit to its full potential.

It's a social media overall and I'm glad to say that I've really found some friends here already. Some awesome people i might have never known without Steemit :) that's what it's all about for me :)

I'm very new to the steemit community, however I have already realized how much more important comments are here than on other social media platforms. Comments here are what make the community happen, as opposed to the relations between people that already know each other. However, steemit has relatively fewer users than other platforms, therefore it is much more important that you write comments, because there is a much smaller chance someone has posted something with a similar opinion. What do you think will change, when more and more people join steemit, and the community will become enormous?
Steemit isn't really different from other social media. The core is still interaction but here you really have to get active to get to know people as the userbase is still small :)

Maximum attention is captured by posts. Yes you can also upvote quality comments. It is beauty of steemit.

Yes upvoting comments is very good way to encourage people to interact with your contents.I agree it. Talking about myself I really give a good time to read let leave my view on any post where author himself is taking part on discussion and upvoting others time and effort too.
But I don't like someones 2 words comment on top of the post and other good comments below...

Comments are one of the biggest pluses of a social network and on Steemit we can reward others for contributing to our work in that way

Sometime I just gone through people posts just to see any related ideas to improve on what im in.. as well as to share something and get some ideas on how to do stuffs the way they did it...and loves to get interact with people around the glove

You are right, there are many people out there upvoting good comments already but there are as well so many who don´t even bother to read the ones they get on their Posts. Yes it´s taking time to answer them but that´s the least you can do to show fellow Steemians that their voice is heard and appreciated.
