Weekend Downtime
There was a bit of downtime this weekend. The cause was due to Steemit retiring some of their public API and seed servers. The issue has been fixed and now SteemEngine.net will be more resilient when a 3rd party API server goes offline.
Fixes/Upgrades
- Some users could not link their steem account due to special characters in their name. This has been corrected.
- Redundant API servers have been added to provide resiliency to SteemEngine.
Joining is as easy as 1-2-3
1. Sign up to SteemEngine at https://www.steemengine.net/join
2. Link your Steem account through the website.
This is required so you can vote and follow other users. Use your private posting key, we don't need or want your Active Key! Your private posting key can be found on Steemit:
Steemit -> Wallet -> Permissions -> Show Private key (Posting)
3. Click on Vote or Follow - and begin earning points!
The more users you follow the more followers you will get in return.
The more high quality articles you vote for the more SBD you will earn through votes.
Make sure to report posts that are spam.

When just starting out if you have a small amount of SP it might take a few days to see results - but you will see them. The majority of users receive more votes than they give out.

the thing to change voting power doesn't seem to actually work, so all my votes were 100% instead of the values I typed into that box

The vote weight was a new feature added this morning. I believe that the weight % box was displaying before the backend code was put in place. The vote weight box was not supposed to display until all code was ready.
Since about an hour ago the weight feature has been fully implemented. We have had several testers confirm that it has been working correctly. Could you please test again and let us know if you experience any issues?
