Every person has a unique personality and a unique experience with Steemit.
Some people are motivated by engagement and status. Some are primarily motivated by knowledge and curiosity. Others are motivated by power and money. Some cherish autonomy over all other aspects of life. Most of us are an amalgamation of different traits and motivations. Every person has a unique composition and a different experience within a system.
There are a thousand different opinions about Steemit, but there's actually very little data about how people genuinely feel about Steemit. In order to get the community's honest opinions about Steemit, I created an anonymous survey on Survey Monkey. There's a setting with Survey Monkey that allows it to be anonymous, meaning it doesn't collect IP addresses. I chose that anonymous setting so people would feel completely free to be honest.
I did not do this at the request of anyone in Steemit, I did it because I think it would be a helpful insight into what the community here actually feels. I believe it can helpful in providing feedback that would otherwise not be visible. For newcomers, it's pretty difficult to have an opinion get to anyone.
There are 10 questions in total and most utilize the comment boxes so you are free to write open-ended responses. I just tested it out, and it works.
Let's find out what the community thinks about Steemit.
To take the anonymous survey titled, How Do You Feel About Steemit? go here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B9YQLX3
I'll post the results in a different post after a day or so.
The survey should take less than five minutes to complete. The survey doesn't ask any personally identifying information, either.
Thank you for your attention today. If you think I missed an important question, please add your comment below. The survey can only have 10 questions, but if you think some different questions need to be asked, let us all know.
I just completed the survey. Thanks for putting it together! Anxious to see the results :)
Nice tools survey
This is a great idea.
Survey completed.
it will be great to have some data on this.
Survey is filled :)
I hope this will inspire Dan & Ned to propose this kind of survey in a near future ^^
Not sure how a survey where everyone can write different answers instead of choosing options, can be combined for proper results afterwards.
I used to be a market research consultant and analyst.
From my perspective (opinion) - Having a questionnaire this open will be a nightmare to aggregate the different responses and even when you do, they won't fit nicely in to divisible responses. There will be lots of overlap and grey areas.
The survey is a good idea, but if there are a lot of people who respond the data will take a huge amount of time to clean (which can introduce subjective biases) and will have limited usefulness, because you can't cleanly determine relationships between answers. i.e did respondents who thought they didn't have a voice also see the reward system as negative etc.
@stellabelle Look what just arrived in the post this morning :) Afraid I am suffering from "bedhead"... as in up all night! Anyhooo... survey done and dusted and can't wait to get reading this, Cheers!
thanks for documenting receiving my book! That makes it more meaningful somehow! It was fun for me to learn where everyone was from! Only one American in the bunch, which for some reason surprised me! It seems that most of my friends here on Steemit are not from the USA......I feel a bit like an outsider here....considering I don't watch sports or reality tv shows..... Thanks again for participating! That was pretty fast actually....
I haven't had a TV since 2007, think we are all a tad 'outsiders' here. Not a bad thing :)
Its a great idea! Will be taking the survey this afternoon. Will you share the results with us in another post @stellabelle or can we see those results on the survey itself? Thank you!
I'll post the results in a different post. Hopefully it will get a fair amount of responses.
Interesting. Will be back in 5 min :)
Done
I've added my voice.
Man you really have it in it for steemit these days @stellabelle I do agree its losing our inner touch. used to be better now i don't know.. lets go answer some questions.
It's in everyone's best interest to know reality so improvements can happen. This is a basic, very basic thing. I am for improvements, to see things in their best possible form, or at least to know what kind of reality exists. I think that is what Steemit represents too..kaizen is something that exists in some form or another at high-functioning organizations:
"Kaizen, Japanese for "improvement." When used in the business sense and applied to the workplace, kaizen refers to activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. It also applies to processes, such as purchasing and logistics, that cross organizational boundaries into the supply chain.[1] It has been applied in healthcare,[2] psychotherapy,[3] life-coaching, government, banking, and other industries." -wikipedia
Youve spent a lot of time around engineers
It's a great idea. Please upvote the article so others get to see it.
Took the survey. Thanks @stellabelle. Oh and I didn't care if it was anonymous or not.
I submitted the form and didn't hold back on my opinions or thoughts on how to improve the site. Hopefully you have someone's ear who have the power to make changes. In the meantime, this minnow's got to get back to work. I owe, I owe, so off to work I go. :o/
I've done the survey. Looks like it could be a lot of work to go through the answers. Cheers
Here are my answers, as I choose to share:
1-2 months
Intrigued (still)
Yes, more than other blog posting social networks. But could be more
Relative. I choose what information I provide, what conversations I engage in, and to whom I listen to
Yes (it matters even if nobody is listening)
Some, but not all. We all have different tastes
Open free flow of information and the inherent incentives for people to contribute in active discussions
Too many to name. It is still in beta, so I will defer until v1.0 comes out (dev's should be given time)
No opinion. Have not used it. No intention to.
Positively, as people are more inclined to comment on my posts and respond when I comment on theirs.
Great initiative @stellabelle! We should do this regularly...
Hey, thanks. I was unaware if anyone had done this yet or not.
I haven't seen any surveys so this is great. BTW a good question to add is 'How likely is it that you would recommend Steemit to a friend or colleague?' on a score of 1-10. In business this is the foundation of the Net Promoter Score and really the key to organic growth. We have to eventually find out what needs to be done for enough people to recommend it to others.
At the request of a "competitor" perhaps?
I'm just asking....
:-)
I just took the survey. Excellent job with it. I have had to create surveys for work.. they are not as easy to create as many believe. I am VERY curious to see the results. Thanks for doing this.
me too! The results are fascinating so far, with one exception which you will read....
I participated! The ability to schedule posts to post ahead of time would be awesome. I've found the time that you post makes a huge difference but it's not always possible to post at those times, sometimes life gets in the way. The ability to work ahead would be a great asset.
Eric that would be wonderful. Midnight and 9A seem to be sweet spots for posting. A post scheduler would halp with the midnight slot.
So far there are about 30 survey responses which is quite a lot! And so many different responses. If people feel comfortable having their answers attached to them, then, you can post here. I wasn't sure if everyone would want to do it that way........what are your thoughts on that?
I'll answer anything in public you want... I had a link to one of my posts that was relevant to one of the survey questions... so if you wish to post those go for it... need me to answer it again publicly I'll do that too.
@stellabelle I've completed Survey , this is a good step toward improvement in #steemit community .
You should have put more multiple choice questions. I see your next post will be about the data you have collected from the survey?
Thanks for sharing, nice survey!

Tried it once for fun. I'm not addicted to Steemit..
Do you believe that the monetary reward system on Steemit is affecting you negatively or positively?

I'm in.
Rats I hit submit before copying my replies.
Here is my anonymous survey haha (but really, I have done yours too)
https://steemit.com/health/@logic/the-unfairness-on-steemit-can-literally-make-people-seriously-depressed-or-even-suicidal-this-is-serious
Good idea, I wonder if results are also accessible to public? I would want to see results if there is a link...
I will post all the results tomorrow, including the ones that described me as a "cunt". All of them will be displayed so everyone can read them..
Well, that's not good! I guess, people taking anonymity as opportunity to say good and bad as well... Eager to see results, hope they will be objective to the matter...
I cant go back, and make mine public. Sorry, I would.
I sent a message to you over at chat
ah, I'll post all the results later on today......in a new post.
just took it! thanks for posting this :D
thanks for doing it!
Really look forward to reading all the survey results. I hope @dan and @ned gets to read the results too, and do something in response to the community feedback.
I'll make sure and email them the results directly so even if they miss it on steemit, they will be able to access the results at their leisure.
Great
I completed the survey. I have a few posts up here but mainly spending a lot of time reading other contributors' articles, trying to see if my interests in life would be a good fit here. Looking forward to your results.
thanks for doing the survey. I'll post the results later today
my first promoted post........I suppose it does feel good to be able to move this post from obscurity into view.
Survey completed. Thanks for the initiative. I trust you are big enough to make your voice heard when you will publish the survey results :-)
Completed. :D
Thank you, Leah! This once again proves that you really care about Steemit community.
I'd like to draw the attention of all at this point. Unfortunately, at the moment the feedback system with the developers is undeveloped, so such initiatives really help to improve life of every Steemian.
And that's a big thing. So I personally appreciate it a lot.
And of course I've done the survey! ;)
