Steemit Has Me Frustrated

So, I've been on Steemit for a little over 2 weeks now. I have accumulated about 45 followers and approximately $3.37 cents. My content is professional, educational, easy to read, and positive. However, after youtube-ing how steemit works, I have found that there is a labyrinth of hoops you have to jump through to be "seen" and be successful on the site. It seems one would literally have to spend all day chasing down blogs, upvoting, or "finding" blogs for submission to, 1. gain a following and 2. make money.

The site is difficult to navigate, hard to write on and not easy to navigate. Searching for friends isn't easy and there is not a complete list of hastags from which to search either. You literally are left to sift through a bunch of not so good stuff to find content that is worth reading/watching/seeing.

Maybe I just need a bit of advice or encouragement. I like the game and want to play, but am struggling with not finding and audience and not finding my "tribe".

Any help would be appreciated.

Tina

It's most definitely not easy to have your content seen as a new person to the platform, I feel exactly the same way, you absolutely nail it in regards to quality of content not being equal to amount of exposure.

The way I see it, personally, this platform is full of very interesting people who share their interesting views via all possible mediums, just participate in this beautiful madness, put your content out there and have no expectation. Enjoy yourself and others who make up this cool place, reach out to anyone who makes you wanna hi to them by saying a word or two on their posts (I just check "new" constantly) and people looking for your niche will organically gravitate via shared interests. That's how I look at it, from the perspective of someone who has been putting out his passion project for years with no expectation in return and now seeing this amazing new platform that is brimming with potential.

As someone mentioned to me very recently - we are all pretty early adopters at this point, there will be people with all kinds of different interests coming in the future, I believe in the future of steemit, so for now be proud of being on a ground floor and perhaps posting to a seeming void can be a personal challenge to hone your craft.

I don't know if it helps, but my point is - you are not wrong, it's not just you. Be yourself, do you - and don't have expectations, don't let it get to you, enjoy the ride!

All the best @thouser, you got it!

Thank you deeptechhouse. I have followed you in return. From all of the videos that I have watched, it's not a matter of content, it's a matter of investment (time and money). So, it will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out. I am happy to be on the front end of this game and will continue to do my part to put out content that is useful and positive!

I think it's a good way to look at it. Of course it's not linear and investing time VS the money is much more is a lot more exhausting, but again if you think about it from a perspective of any other social network, you generate content there with 0 chance of getting anything from it passively.

So while I'd absolutely love to provide quality content (subjectively of course) and get rewarded for it, I'd rather shift a mindset of doing it with no expectation of any returns. I have done that for years now doing my mixes, so even the chance to get anything in return is amazing, what I am more excited about is having a platform where I can do a long term investment and build an audience that would genuinely care, and that to me is a lot more exhilirating :)

I do appreciate your follow and I hope you will continue to enjoy the stuff I put out. Best of luck!

HI,

I also have been on Steemit for a bout 2 weeks and am at around $2.80.
I also agree that there is alot of hoops to go thru.
I have watched lots of videos & truley beleive in this platform, I am sure updates will come soon enough.
I am going to spend the next 2 weeks really pushing it and see where i end up.
I would also like to hear from you as to where you are in 2 weeks also.

Aidan.

I gave you a vote and follow

I will stay in touch! I think having networks on a platform like this is key!

Great,
Did you join here by way of crypto of from something else ?

Just write for yourself, and not to try to gain popularity. With platforms like these, it's difficult to stand out. Just keep posting things you enjoy posting about, and don't stress about getting followers or making money. Plus I don't think anyone is just gonna magically get 10,000 subscribers overnight.

As for having to sift through a lot of content to find posts you deem valuable, that's just how all these platforms go. Sort of a grind, but you do find some great stuff if you're willing to browse and sift. I'm new to steemit, but speaking from experience with reddit.

i5starjordan, I totally get what you are saying, but what you are describing is tumblr. The game is what makes this platform different from that. I'm only frustrated because there is so much information and so much to do if you want to be successful on this platform. Which begs the question, is it worth it?

Two weeks in the game is way early. It seems to me that I get caught up in Steem.it when I have the time. Then it becomes more about what I want to write, or who I want to read and support.
Sure it's frustrating when it seems that no one reads my posts or will venture an upvote; but, that is the Zen.
I'll follow you and keep an eye out for your posts.

Greetings.

H. G.

Thank you so much for your advice and support!

My wife Elena @bellydancegirl who does bellydance and meditation videos turned me onto your posts and I understand your early frustration. I would simply say "be patient" when posting and always try to add good content and the followers and upvotes will come. I started in June last year and it took me over a month to really start to gain any traction. Around 3 months in I was still cynical but started making more cryptocurrency. Now it is 7 months in and I am doing much better on the platform. I think that subject matter such as what you are offering is poised to do very well in the future. Meditation, new spiritualism and esoteric subject matter is currently ripe for taking off, so I would simply say stick with it. I will follow you and try to curate your posts from time to time so that it helps you raise some cryptocurrency for your good efforts to help elevate human consciousness and personal happiness. Peace.

Thank you so much @clarityofsignal and thank your wife (@bellydancegirl) as well for reading my posts. I love sharing positivity and helpful tips with the world. It's my way of giving back and helping the overall vibration of this crazy plane. I understand completely that our vibe will bring our tribe. Peace :)
