I can totally relate to both segments of @christalopez's post - the struggle to gain views/votes/constructive feedback as well as the insights into technical writing.
If there's one thing in life I'm any good at it's research and writing about what I've researched! I found the advice on making technical writing fun and readable very helpful. It is a difficult job getting your point across in a way that keeps the reader engaged. Bringing yourself into the writing is definitely putting your best foot forward. :)
As far as the disheartening feeling you get when you see a goose egg next to that eye symbol or the empty 0.00 waiting for you as pay day approaches, I can only say stick with it! We write for the love of writing (at least most of us do). I have journals and docs that have never seen the light of day yet I personally got a lot from writing them. Yes, nothing feels better than having someone (even just ONE person) read, enjoy and comment on something you slaved, sweat and maybe even cried over but you have to remember the platform is growing rapidly, it has a STEEP learning curve, and it really is a long term investment not a get rich quick scheme. Best advice: build your relationships/network on here, find a tribe (or 20!) and get to putting your awesomeness out there - people will recognize your hard work and return the love - just have faith! :)

While I have never participated in any of these challenges before I feel like I have to because I genuinely found the information in that post totally relatable. Being a minnow myself I can whole-heartedly speak about the complications I have gone through and how I have applied most of what was in that post.
Currently, I have almost no topic that I write on. I mostly just write what is on my mind and try to do that in a very clean way. In the very beginning I had almost zero traction becauss I barely put in any effort in my articles.
One thing that helped change that was engaging with other authors by posting genuine comments on their articles and actually having a comversation with them.
As a minnow what mattered most is how you interact with other people. Even for the dolphins and the whales the biggest issue they have, and they will admit this, very few people actually read what they have written as demonstrated by the low quality comments trawling for upvotes.
Interact, interact, interact and success will find you ladies and gentlemen.

I honestly think that it doesn't matter if you decide to go into a niche or not. However, I do believe that people actually gravitate to those authors that actually post something that they can relate to.
Basically, anything about your experiences, anything happening about Steemit and Steem. To get that genuine engagement people need to feel invested in what you are writing in your post, I believe.
My articles that have had that genuine engagement have been those 'How to' articles, motivational articles and stories about my life.
I agree with you completely @deniskj!!! I love that attitude and any time you want to hang out with #newbieresteemday people we could use someone that "gets it" like you :)

There are basically 2 ways to approach this:
Money, money, money
Use money to gain money. Buy SBD from exchange to power up your account. You could then do any or all of the following:
Build human followers
This is the hard and long way. It really takes time and effort, and we might be "burnt out" by seeing zero view or zero money on our posts day in day out. However, this is the "clean" way and in the long term, the most profitable way. If you want to take this method, here are some things that I've learned:

You can... just click the "edit" button... copy it.. and paste it into a post... It is not a bad thing to do when you want to share a message with your followers! Also you should tell them about this particular game, it will help them a lot... We have many people in the #newbieresteemday initiative that want to help you and your friends, so its a good place to get some love!

I had to go back and read the post over and over again and I can promptly say that @christalopez had just laid down my heart cry and frustrations.
actually today makes me four days old on steemit and I have come to notice some unimaginable Success feats recorded by some people, some times I just put it off as a miracle and runminate on it being an exceptional happening.
4 days ago I wrote my introductory post, and since then I've been unable to cross the $6 mark, it has been a herculean task to at least take it up to $7,and I spent over a day, writing down the best part of myself and even creating a wonderful way to introduce myself. Funny enough, I just saw a post that is 5 hours old, which is just a little introduction and pictures ranking above $234 and was even esteemed by @jerrybanfield.
I am amazed at this, but as funny as it may seem, that is why is happening.
By the way, the solutions highlighted by @christalopez is and will always be my personal strategy for growth in steemit, be that as it may, I can really argue that it might not deliver similar or same results to everyone,due to environmental, time and personal differences it might only work to a particular extent.
My simple advice : find a strategy that works for you and stick to it.
I am trying out different styles right now, and be sure to mote that once I find an excellent way to get value for my posts in the most efficient way, I'll definitely stick to it and grow from there.
Also, always show up and help someone. This can be proven to be a great succour in growing your steemit reputation.

Welcome @steemcenturion! I checked out your blog, and you are doing terrific! Your introductory post was well written, and your pictures are adorable. Since you are trying out different styles right now in an effort to "find what works for you, and stick to it," I thought I'd offer a little advice that has worked well for me personally - not just here on Steemit, but as a life principle:
Find out what the successful people are doing, then do what they do.
I don't have to re-invent the wheel, I just have to duplicate successful peoples' efforts. Find someone you genuinely respect, who is also having success, and learn from them. Before I made my first post here, I read hundreds of posts on Steemit on how to be successful here. That's how I found this group. I liked them, every single one of these folks are the real deal, authentic and kind, intelligent and helpful. I watched how they interacted with others, how they conducted themselves, and how they genuinely desired to lift others up. I wanted to be like them.
My secret was reading hundreds of articles before making my first post, and finding out what the successful people were doing. Do you know @davemccoy is averaging 30-50 comments a day? His comments are all centered around helping others be successful, and to me, that is the epitome of success. One of the best kept secrets in life is, when you help another become successful, you yourself benefit. It's a win/win! It is also what the Steemit platform is all about. Because of him, I found an entire group of earth angels at #newbieresteemday
*They are the type of people I want to be like, so I made them adopt me, and they will be happy to adopt you, too!

Remember that often it is only 1 vote that made that difference, either due to luck/friends/vote-buying etc. Important is to not get upset about it. @christalopez Let me start by welcoming you to steemit. I understand how you feel and I can say that most of us here had the same experience. The frustrating feeling of spending hours to research about a post and typing it carefully and painfully only to make some lame reward of less than $1. I've once seen an introductory post which went viral in a way I could not understand to make an awesome reward of $380. Till this day I am still unable to assimilate the gravity of that situation because it was the very first post that individual had ever made from that account. It was a lady like us but I can't just recall her username.
Sincerely since I joined steemit 20days ago I haven't made over $10 on a single post and I do not feel so good about that. Steemit is really all about creating yourself and by that I mean bringing out the creativity in you to become an activity and in that way you will certainly make more money.
Secondly I learnt a lot from your introductory post, honestly I never knew how to do what you thought over there before now and I do think those tips will be successful for us both if we apply them.
Lastly I wanna encourage you to keep on keeping on to face the life on steemit. It can only get better. Try not to live your live on steemit on a reverse because you do live will become EVIL (reverse spelling of live) and if you LIVED in evil you are a DEVIL (reverse spelling of lived).
REMEMBER NEVER GIVE UP no matter what.

Its killing the newbie community... the good thing is the ones that survive it are tougher and learn how to overcome... but the bad thing is that I'm sure we loose many good ones in the process too... I remember how frustrating it was to me... And I'm a pretty patient guy!
From the positive side, it also means the community is growing. Hopefully, there will be a fix for it soon.
With the minnowsupport bot, I'm seeing this issue every day. Your comment reminded me to check for failed transfers. Thx! :)
Agreed... There is no doubt on that... The bid bots on the exchange have been jammed with overbidding now for about 10 days. It could only be from an influx and I think it is coming from dmania (judging by some of the more agressive overbuys)

This one is not a bid bot, just a registration bot for MSP/PALnet. It is used to confirm the link between the Discord and the Steemit account. In hindsight, it was not so clever to use a brand new steemit account to deal with the registrations. But on the other hand, it is not that crucial. We are just returning the 0.001 registration fee as a nice gesture. :)
A well written post.
It is really difficult to gain attention when you are a newbie in steemit. I mean most of my post do not even get veiws, not to mention votes. It could be very discouraging when you think of the pains you went through while working on a particular post, just to make it informative to the audience.
I hardly write these days because of it. I was advice to spend more time reading other people's post and do much of curating more. I have to say that it has really helped.
I think another reason why people fail in steemit is when it comes to arranging their tags before posting. You might have a good post, but the tags may not go well with the post. So one needs to learn about tags and how to use them. steemit.com/tags will be of help in this area.
Secondly, is the topic. Most of the steemit big guys looks for catchy topics, before they even venture to open a post. So, one needs to work hard on putting up an attractive topic.
The key to every success is consistency. So wether your post is being veiwed and voted for or not, just keep doing what you know how to do best. In time, you will get the attention you need.

I understand how you feel and many can relate to that.
You have done the right choice as it is important not to spend hours and hours producing posts every day. Early on, the majority of the time need to be spent on networking, comment on other people's posts and connect with like-minded people. Having as little as 1-2 posts per week is fine.
Another thing, don't look blindly on the $-upvote values. Many people with high earnings, get it with 1 big upvote. Just work consistently and try to grow your view and upvote count, if you produce good content and are lucky, you might catch a whale in the process.

"You are a good writer and your skill is needed badly on steemit. why waste it? and why waste your time when you could earn big from it. You should join steemit you know?"
After hearing such motivating words, you become so excited to get started on steemit and light up the place with your piece of writing but after your first, time invested post on steemit, you get humbled and knocked back by the failure of your work to get audience and votes.
As if that is not enough, you decide to go through and seek answers to your post failure and you come across a line from a user and its gotten a monstrous traction already.
I give up! this place is not what it promised... these are the painful thoughts As a newbie, i stay worried and angry and still wallowing in confusion for many days staying away from the community.
Finally, you get back and you still notice same poor turn out on your post as you even get scammed by some bots, until you meet some nice people like @davemccoy. Initially everything they say is like a bluff but with persistence you begin to come along and realise that what they say are doable and workable.
What i have come to realise as a newbie is that a post is only as good or bad as the kind of people you follow, the kind of people you seek advise from, your activities here and the decision you have made before and after you joined whether to succeed here or give up.
You need people and activities to make that desired impression here. This is why I have started building on that and found @danielsaori through @amariespeaks and @Davemccoy. With these kind of people, you can make your post go viral and you can make a great post.
Now I am glad i will make it to the top and you too can with these people.

Welcome again, @christalopez! I wish I could add to the already fabulous advice given to you by others like @davemccoy , @amariespeaks, @smylie2005, @bashadow, @liberviarum, and others, but they've summed it up nicely. They've demonstrated the best thing about Steemit - it is a wonderful, supportive, community of people, all working to lift one another up.
Because of your questions regarding how to gain traction, I went back and read a couple of your posts, including your first introductory post. After reading your writings, I wish I knew you better. For instance:
Answers to those type of question could help people know you better, and that's what it is all about here at Steemit. Relationships It's all about getting to know each other and building a new kind of community, as well as a new type of economy. For instance, you mentioned a "we" in the above post...who is the "we," and do we get to meet them?
Lastly, what is "copyscape"? lol, sorry if that is a dumb question...I'd search it, but I'd rather hear you explain what it is, as a way to engage with you. You know something I don't - most people so. You have an area of expertise that I lack, and I'd rather learn it from a person I know, than to simply use a search engine.
This is an incredible platform, but what makes the platform great, is the people here. It is a community, and to be successful here, just dive in! Join...and then join in, not just with blog posts, but by swimming with other Steemians.

@christalopez is right about all she has said. Blogging has never been easy, while you've some post go viral, others seems like you haven't actually posted a thing.
It could be very discouraging at first but one thing I've learned is that consistency matters... If you are consistent, you'll know what make the masses tick, what intrigues them and that will help you focus you energy not just writing gossips today then motivation tomorrow.
Again, blogging has never been easy, it can be pretty frustrating but consistency is key.

I got an immense pleasure reading your 2nd introduction to the community and flying over your blog, that brings me to think how amazing is that we can connect with each other around the globe using a unique ecosystem interacting with Steem Blockchain.
Everyone reading your posting will agree that you are a good writer, Look at your blog for example. I was really impressed by the number of articles, I checked out the traffic ''between us ;) I'm a SEO Adept and when I like a blog I check out the traffic etc. I want just to tell you that no matter how your work, skills, are good If you don't get visibility and have people to look at your work you can't reach your goal.
I'm not in a position to tell you what you have to do, But I believe that we are interacting with the blockchain, and there are some parameters. Time is the most critical parameter, if you take time to understand those parameters and leverage the system you will be there.
Steemit is not only about writing, we are in a social media/blogging platform interacting with Steem Blockchain that has generated a microeconomic ecosystem and many others interaction aspects.
What you see or what you live now, is the process of time, and if you have the vision of where you wanna be, just do what it takes and allow to time to go through the process.

The first thing I will say is, every whale was once a minnow. Though I have not been having up votes on my posts as desired. But I have discovered in life that no one has ever climbed a ladder from the top. Every great man were once in the place of working their ways through to the top.

I know I'm still a minnow, but I don't see myself as one who's failing on steemit, I'd rather see myself as one who's working his way through to the top, though rough might be the way. The very rough way will someday become a plain ground.
There was a time I was almost discouraged because of low up votes, but I recently encouraged myself to keep doing what I know how to do. I believe a day.would come when my post will reach the limelight if I truly have quality content.
When I think of how long I've spent on Facebook without being paid a dime, then I'm not discouraged because of little or no up votes on steemit. I have share my posts on Facebook for the past 10 years without expecting a dime or pay. If I wasn't discouraged to share post on Facebook, then I'm 100% encouraged to keep posting on STEEMIT both when I'm voted or not.
I believe that STEEMIT has a better hope for my future. I believe if I'm creative enough, I won't spend six months on STEEMIT without making my way through. I'll try my best to be known for what I do best.
I'll like to relate this topic with the last comment challenge contest. It talks about dark moments. I believe the stage as a minnow is the dark moment, but one should not give up. Giving help only makes you loose and not win. Most people have failed on STEEMIT because they gave up.

I honestly feel the same way as @christalopez.
I've been here for roughly a month and I feel really insignificant. Making good content is one thing, getting attention is another. I end up posting memes of what I think and feel about steeming.
Nevertheless I don't plan on quitting anytime soon. I've been researching alot on how to make it here; joining simple contests like these help out alot so thank you @danielsaori and your #minnowsupportproject. You are the "Captain" we need but don't deserve.

Nice post @christalopez,I am just glad that you could voice out the complain of every newbie, some persons might as well altogether quit and not post again. I recently checked the blog of a friend only to discover her last post was 18days ago. And I wont blame her because her previous posts yielded 0.00sbd. Its just so sad because most times the posts are just so good yet no attention is been given to them.And then you see a post that sometimes you find hard to understand getting so many upvotes and over $1,000.
What I just have to say is not to aim for the whales because it will be less likely to get their attention. What I do is to read posts of people whose reputation is 50 and above and whose payouts are not too large and their comment section doesnt have too many comments ; so that if I comment,I will get noticed and probably have them follow me.Sometimes I drop links of my posts relating to that topic and refer them to look at it..You will be almost always lucky to get a good upvote.

It has never been easy here on steemit. When you post, new member with few followers dont always have good upvotes. Nevertheless, ive learnt a lot here on steemit. It been so educative, encouraging, motivating. But the major key is CONSISTENCY. Nice post and writing tips. I feel your frustration, I am new here as well and still trying to find my niche. While I am no expert, what I have been doing is trying to find folks that have similar interest and read their articles and comment in the hopes that it sparks their interests. I have always wanted to be in a community like this one and I truly feel that you need to make those connections but be real with it and be real to yourself. Also, donβt compare yourself to the whales, its not fair to you as you are so new. Lastly, what I am doing personally is not thinking about βfailingβ just keeping plugging along and write quality articlesβyou definitely have the talent. I am also having that struggle, but I saw another side to it.
Steemit seems to have more of people who want you to be worth it. Worth their following, worth their resteem in, and worth their upvoting.
With the voting power being rationed and it having a cost, steemit might just be teaching us the cost of our actions, and telling us to make sure our actions are worth the receiver's output, which should be valuable.
So I decided to try as much as possible to deliver posts of value, worthy value.
I think I'm growing.

@danielsari Being a great writer is not easy. In many cases, no matter how much time you spent in writing not everyone will praise your work. It is also my problem as a beginner in the field of creative writing. Inorder to make your readers pay attention to your work, get to know yourself first. Find out where you are doing good, what you can contribute with the majority and what it will do best. Also identify the readers, find out where they are more interested. That's where you can get them. To be a good writer, need patience, perceverance, accept every negative comment and be positive. The great writer is formed over time not in a flicker eye. There's always be the right time and place for the dreamers become a famous.

The dark little secret is not so dark after all. It's just genuine interaction and writing quality posts like you do. Of course there are other "secrets". You can read a post of mine on it or just search Steemit for it. There's a lot of tips out there.
As for your writing tips, oh I think I could use some of that present tense you mentioned. And maybe add some more adjectives and adverbs too.
Anyway we all fail at first but when we learn a lot from our mistakes and read more about what we can do here then we can become great Steemians! :D
Oh wait... if you want a "dark" secret then here you go: Some people earn a lot here from using voting bots and pay for upvotes/resteems and other services. You can try it too if you want. Better research more on it first though.

Regarding bid bots, I agree it is important to research. Most people are actually losing a lot of cash on them. I have done a lot of tests and it requires both an amount of timing and luck to get a good return.

Success on Steemit quickly used to happen a few years ago. People made a lot more money for posts back then. If you can make yourself known and take advantage of opportunities there can be fast success.
Since I have joined I have made a lot of mistakes on Steemit. I did not read the frequently asked questions carefully. I voted for hours upon hours my first days. I swear I calculated 37 hours and $1000. Hahaaa. Nope, in fact I made next to nothing and I had to wait a long while to vote again. I learned all about voting power after that.
I got off to a bad start but I have met some of the most honest, helpful and nice people on Steemit. Every time I messed up there was someone there to catch me. I love that. To have support and friendship is great success to me. And sometimes that takes a little time! Go Steemers!

As a fellow newbie, I share her frustrations. I consider myself a skilled writer, but thatβs because Iβve put the work in. Iβve been writing just about every day since Iβve been capable of expressing complex thoughts on paper. I used to be a history PhD student and I worked my butt off trying to produce work that was up to academic peer review standards. I canβt paint, or draw, or even sign my name very well, but I can certainly tell a story. As a former teacher, it doesnβt bother me when people donβt have a particularly strong grasp of grammar or an eloquent writing style (particularly if theyβre not native speakers); I just care about effort. But there is a lot of garbage on here that goes well rewarded, and that can be frustrating.
This part resonates with me: You sculpt the questions to text by performing research, this by doing your due diligence, getting the facts straight. My niche is writing history articles that are well-researched but fun to read. It takes timeβlots of it. Some articles take up to 20 hours of research. Iβm trying not to focus too much on the dollar amount. In academia, I spent eight years on and off working on a project that went through three rounds of peer review, and I actually had to pay for offprints of the journal that it was published in. I lived on less than $30,000 a year in New York working as a teacher at a university. I didnβt pursue that career path to get rich, but I loved the work. Since Iβve left academia, this is how I stay connected to those years of my life.
I have every intention of continuing to put in the hard work. Iβve started mixing some other genres in there that donβt take insane amounts of research so I can build a following of people with diverse interests, but I want to keep sharing the projects that I love, even if I only get pennies and a couple of comments in return. Just one reader enjoying what I put out there is enough for me. I truly believe that the hard work will go recognized with time, because the people who have stumbled on my blog seem to enjoy it.

As far as the competition, youβre welcome to try that too. @deliberator has a best post contest that he does weekly too. Also a former teacher, but of preschoolers most of whom have isiZulu or isiXhosa as their first language, so their having to learn in English requires major effort on their part, which I really appreciated. Then again, having a secondary career as a proofreader/editor, the grammar on Steemit can drive me dilly :).
As for your recommended gems, I've just had a look at @eleanorgoldfield - in particular her #introduceyourself post ... very interesting and she has some heavyweights supporting her - I hope she goes from strength to strength. Making quality comments is a great way to grow and to build followers. A rewarding tactic can be to focus some of your time to comment on higher rep accounts. It will definitely be more challenging to build a connection, but it will increase the chances of some big upvotes, which in the end can be very rewarding for the overall Steemit experience.
I suppose I can do that. It just rubs me the wrong way when people are obviously trying to grovel for upvotes and attention from people with a lot of Steem Power. If it were me I would find that really annoying. I end up spending my time on newbie posts because I want to be encouraging, but I'll try chiming in on conversations on bigger posts from time to time. Thank you for the advice!

It can extremely disheartening to work so hard on a post, make it come from your heart, reread and reread to make sure you have it all right only to have it make a few cents. Especially when you can go to the "trending" or "hot" section and see people with $100, $200, $500 on their post that was a post on crypto or a post that was made with only a single paragraph. Thats why I stay away from those sections! ;) I noticed when I stopped paying attention to the big dogs, err whales, earnings, I enjoyed myself a lot more on Steemit. My writings flow better. I write about what Im feeling at the moment, I write about what makes me happy, what I enjoy. I have learned that to get the love you want, you also have to give the love. I went onto the "new" section and scrolled, commenting, upvoting and resteeming where I saw proper, building relationships is half the battle, just like in life! I followed and replied... Real replies, heart felt replies. I love playing the contests and photo challenges. Its a great way to make extra SBD and steem so you can further your power. And its fun!! I finally came across @newbieresteemday when seeing a contest they had going... I only wish I had found this amazing group of people before. They push you to interact, to do your best. I highly recommend joining Discord, which is like a chat. Its a great way to meet new people and share you posts with people who enjoy the same things as you. Lastly, just remember, this is supposed to be fun. Dont worry so much about what others are doing. Do what you love and it will come through in your writing. Dont worry so much about the money, we did this for years, not making a single penny!

Below is a portion of the comment I left on her post. The most important thing about this post is that word happenstance. Don't ask why I do not have a fricken clue, last night just before going to bed that word popped into my head, like a bad commercial jingle, and just would not leave me alone. So when I woke up I decided I was going to find somewhere to use the damn word, get it off of and out of my mind. So I found a place to use it. Did I use it correctly, I don't care if I did or did not, I used it. That is what counts. It is now gone, it is no longer tap tap tap dancing around in my little head, I don't have a huge dance floor up there, it is certainly not a large enough place for Sammy Davis Jr, maybe for Fred Astaire, but not Sammy.

I am not experienced when it comes to blogging but smart enough to understand that it does not matter how good your content is if you don't have followers then your going to burn yourself out hoping that you just might pull of the right article with the right tags which to be honest is just to hit and miss.
My first passion above anything else is I am a free stylist alto saxophonist who enjoys turning up to the club and playing alongside the DJ entertaining playing my heart out giving my best and lifting up the atmosphere of the night. It is the positive feedback the positive interactions and thank you's the vibe that I get back of the crowd where the reward lies. So how does this relate to a new person in steemit...
Most people would agree that in general to gain you need to give. I have never met a leader of anything that skipped this process, have you?
My first three weeks here were pretty challenging and I am far from where I would like to be right now and admittedly took just over a week out to recharge and rethink. I would defo say starting from day one make sure you actually sort your picture out on your profile sort your wall post out don't skip the basic setup. Been honest I won't follow a picture of your pet cat or your dog. I like to see a face or something that does reflect what your interests are.
I am not attracted to people who promote upvote me and I will upvote you and neither should you be. It is not attractive its not real it's freakin fake. I don't turn up to a club and wait for an audience to start clapping before I play. I give and give my heart out so if I was to start right from day one again I would say do not even do an introduction for a week. Sit down and list the things you honestly like the things you feel you have a genuine interest in and go and have a tour around and search for those people that have the same interests.
Drop the ego you are not in a competition with anyone, you might be inspired by others but you are totally unique there is no other you. Here you don't need to be focused on trying to approve yourself to other people. That will cause you a lot of frustration just be who you are and interact with other people that have similar passions to you.
Give out genuine constructive comments don't try to live on an island figuring this out for yourself. I know I spent my first 3 weeks asking more experienced people for advice but its like anything. There is always going to be someone in your niche or niches that have more experience than you. How much headache can you save yourself by actually asking. The very fact that you are asking is a compliment to the person you are asking and you will find that genuine successful people love talking about how they got to that success so do be the perfect student and go and ask.
I don't want to stay on the minnow level I want to be a whale so I make an effort to swim with the whales but I also choose to give my 0.01 upvote to those that come in after me again in the niches that I have an interest in and I do it because when you lift other people up and encourage them karma eventually does reward you back.
Compliment people but keep it real and related to the blog that they have created and keep those relations going ask questions about what they have wrote to encourage a conversation. I try now to just resteem the blogs that are also linked to my passions because I don't want my profile to an endless list of everything. It only turns away the audience that I really want to follow me and they are the people I want to like me for who I am. I don't want the genuine value I have to be washed away by any random posts so think about how and what you are resteeming think about the content that you want people to see on your feed.
Try to get organised or find someone who is which in all honesty is something i am still working on. it is so easy to get addicted to steemit and lose hours and I have done that myself and again it burns you out. So now my approach is get my 10 upvotes done at a regular time every time I do it and it is very important to understand that as a minnow we get 10 valid upvotes in a 24 hour and been quite blunt anything more than that is a waste but if you are watching the bandwidth you can get away with giving out quite a few comments daily. I can't really advice on how many people to follow I know personally i have slowed that down and have stopped following anyone that does not relate to the topics im interested in and I don't ever make comments on posts I have no knowledge of whatsoever. Your not here to be a master of everything. lead with what you are most passionate about and then maybe later look into another interest. For me it would firstly be music then education about marketing so what i have learnt so far I put into videos a few posts and where i have seen others walking into a wall I have shared the lessons I have learnt in the hope that it helps them which it has quite a few times in my fairly new stages so when you learn something new write about it because there are plenty of new people here that may benefit from it. Then it looks like food for me and a few other things but only you know you and what you love. if it helps look at past pictures write a story around the pictures but again my biggest tip I feel i can share is spend more time to start with making new friends giving great comments uplift other people and be realistic. It is very rare that you are going to make $$$$$s with a small audience and although this might sound backwards if you are focused only on making money here it is going to be a long journey. Get excited about meeting new people who can't judge you because here you have the opportunity to write a fresh page.
Anyway apologies for the long "comment" but a massive thank you for putting this idea out because it kinda inspired me to start again so in conclusion just love people be yourself and what ever genuine value you have to share give it your best every single time. It is important to get a following, but sadly enough, nowadays you can't really measure the following based on your followers. An example of that is accounts that follow 60K accounts and in return, they get 20K followers. :) True followers are those that always show up on your blog to make valuable comments. Those kinds of followers we gain by making quality comments, and we keep them as followers by maintaining a genuine conversation whenever they post something.

Hello friends, I support many of the comments that are here, many times we write something just to wait for the money and thinking that it likes the other.
We should write thinking of yourself. Sometimes it is very difficult to get your work to that user who is waiting for you, but the moment you arrive it will always remind you and be aware of you. Like many I have been discouraged, I joined in August and I was two months without activity on the platform, the return in December and until now I have done better.
There are many lucky people who belong to this amazing social network called Steemit, which gives us the opportunity to upload any quality content and we also receive a reward for it, so yes, let's continue showing that we can be more and better with our works, and in that way change the world for the good of all!

Yes, I think that is a common issue. People write something, drop it in a post and then moves on to write something else. 10x of the time need to be spent commenting as a way to promote yourself and attract people to your blog. Take care and see you around.
It can be very frustrating and challenging for a newbie to put in a lot of effort into a post and get little or no attention at the end of the day.
Whereas a dolphin or whale can post intangible things and at the end of the day goes viral with a lot of upvotes.
What i observe is responsible for this is that most u0sers on this platform, right from the minniows prefer to stay around the whales,lick their asses with upvotes even when undeserved, just to get their attention and huge upvotes in return, while the dont even click on post of newbies like them, talk more reading.
And further more up to the Whales, who never care to check out quality post of newbies and upvote if deserved, because they feel the are of no good value to them in rewards value.
I have been in your shoes and still in it, i make some posts that i feel are of benefit to mankind and human race in general, made posts to seek support for the motherless and underpriviledged in the orphanages and society respectively, the maximum attention they have gotten is few views and below 5 dollars reward.
As away forward for the time being, i will encourage you not to relent, continue to dish out quality posts, derive pleasure and satisfaction that you have shared knowledge with someone even if its just one person.
Believe me as time goes on and your reputation increases, you will get more view and rewards for your good work.

I understand the frustration you describe and I like @gunter01's comment.
As Steemit grows I think it will be more and more important to pick your niche when you get started. That way you can more easily promote yourself by posting and commenting within your niche.
And don't think there are whales not looking for great content from new Steemians. As a whale grows, the curation reward gets more and more important, so they will also have an economic interest in finding and promoting great content. One of the most well-known curation groups is @curie. To get an idea of the kind of content and quality they promote, check out the comments for that account.

Understanding and hearing are two different things that will lead to two different outcomes, so how come every time I try to talk to people they only want to hear the exactly opposite what I'm saying, for example yesterday when I tried to reason with a person about a matter that was not my in my hands, yet this person wanted the outcome to be in his favor. Where do we go as a society or mechanisms when we as individuals can't face the harsh reality that surrounds us.

This is something bothering me as well. It basically has to do with people not being good listeners. People more interested to hear themselves talk and to make their point, rather than trying to understand the other person.
Sometimes it's difficult to get attention in steemit. You just have to get to know how all this community works. And of course you have to find your people. The ones, that will like the work you do and will encourage you. This process can take a lot of time. After registering here, I was discouraged at one moment and almost stopped visiting the site. Maybe I had about two months or so in absence. Now I am regretful of that act of mine. Luckily, after giving another try, I found that a lot of people liked and upvoted my second first post.
One thing is sure - nothing happens fast and you had to be patient to build up followers and find various ways to encourage them and be encouraged of course! One thing is sure... You should not be irritating and the things will gradually start to happen.

I will make my review short and simple. Yes, a good writing skills is the big factor on this platform but there are a lot of things aside from being a good writer that matters in order for you to success in this platform. Let me break it down.
3. Important Things:
Good articles but few followers. Even your article is the best article in the whole world it won't be viral if no one can see. It means you must have a followers that will be able to see your article.
Good articles but no one can relate to it. Based on my research majority of the articles that viral and has many upvotes are those article that relates to the steemit communities. Like articles about personal experience, an article that provides help to others and an article that's easy to read and with common terms used so that majority can relate even those non-english person.
Good articles but no groups or whales that support it. We know this, in order for the article to get on the top it must have many upvotes and it must have higher earnings. Because that's how the system works. So, it's very important to get involved to the community and join to the groups, it will help you to be recognized.

Would like to have entered - could have done with the SBD - just hardly an expert on the subject though. You're probably better off just giving the SBD to those minnows who are practically dolphins. Like they need it! :D But, let's face it, they're more likely to be able to face the challenge better, naturally. It kind of goes without saying, doesn't it?
Would like to have voted - just too many comments to wade through. How to run it better (so that it doesn't become such a minefield to wade through)? I don't know. I guess it's just probably better to check out this thread on the first day if you intend to enter / vote. Wait till the next one if 24 hours have already elapsed.
I do think forcing people to vote manually instead of just going off upvotes is making the whole thing a little too cumbersome. For your normal, sane, type of person. But then, maybe that's just me? ;)

And it doesn't really look like the girl whose post is being commented on is ever going to need that much advice. Does it? I mean, she's pretty, after all. She'll do well on steemit as a result with time.

With the bot armies around I prefer a more manual and "cumbersome" method for voting. And after all, it is not overly complicated. The voting is also not perfect. Anyone with friends in one of the steemit communities can easily fish votes no matter the quality of the comment.
