In this tour, I found out stone sculptures at the corner of Stone pagoda in Mireuksa's ruined temple place.
I already explained Mireuk was Maitreya. This temple had been built in Baekje dynasty and repaired several times after the unification by Shilla dynasty.
After the collapse of Baekje dynasy, most of architectures were destroyed. Only stone works could've been survived.
The stone pagoda in Mireuksa temple place was the representative one of them.
When this stone pagodas was discovered, most of parts were collapsed. So they reconstructed with the cement. In this time, the stone pagoda had been totally reconstructed and opened.
I dropped by this place to see how the pagoda was repaired. I posted the appearances of the pagoda in previous post.
In this post, I'd like to show you the stone sculptures at the corner of the stone pagoda. There were four human looking like sculptures.
In my memory, it was a first case I recognized human looking like sculptures at this position.
There were imaginary animals in Whangryongsa Temple's piled stone pagoda which was built in Shilla dynasty.
In many cases, four heaven kings sculptures could be found around the pagoda.
It was a human, not a heaven king or a imaginary animal. I could not find out the exact meaning of those sculptures until now.

Cool sculptures always fascinating to see what has happened in times past. But since we live in the future, my favorite thing to do is play Bitcoin Games lol :)

They are short in size! These type of "Wamana Rupa" we called them in my country as "Wamana" aka "Bhairava" as well. I think that place is dedicated for them. They protect that place / temple! It's an ancient myth, but people still believe that!
