One thing I have noticed, through the years of collecting, premiums on many .999 government coins (Eagles, Maples and others) go up with age. In 1996, a 1996 American Silver Eagle, was around $10. Or $6 spot + $4 premium = $10. Generics, slightly less. Today, a '96 Eagle is $40 to $100 plus. Most Generics' premium, old or new, today, still $2 or less. So, in this case, would not, the $10 Eagle, worth $40, be better than a free Generic, worth $20.
