I definitely wasn't thinking that I would find anything worthwhile, for sure. This guy did house clean-outs, so you never knew what you would find. At the end of the day, he always got super low on prices, because he couldn't take the stuff back. Whatever remained went to the dumpsters, and the next week he had a new box truck full of "treasures".
I had two more nice pickups from him over the years. One was a huge box of old letters, bills, receipts etc. I enjoy old paper. I think I paid $7 for the box, and doubted I'd find much, it was a little too new (1970s). About halfway through sorting the box at home, I found an envelope marked "Save". Inside were 36 crisp $2.00 bills. Not worth much individually, but the $72 was nice!
