America is actually pretty far behind Europe and east Asian countries in broadband. It's both faster and cheaper in those places than it is here because of our telco monopolies pocketing government money they were supposed to use to build out fiber networks.

Truth.
Out here in no mans land I can either pay $50 a month for 1Mbps DSL, $65 for 5 Mbps with a WISP or way too much for way too little on Satellite
Meanwhile I only have to pay around 30 dollars for a 50-100Mbps WiFi even though I live in the middle of a forest in Finland.
I want 50-100Mbps :(. It makes it hard to work remote when I can either have my laptop on the VPN or my VOIP phone on at any one time.
I also heard lots of bad news about my country major telecommunication providers! Moreover, government needs to keep us stay away from internet! Coz they hate Social Medias and so on... I don't think they will let us evolve into this high techs in soon! Do you have any download limit?@alexbeyman,
Cheers~
