A different kind of LHC

in #steemstem7 years ago

Next week is the steemSTEM meetup at the LHC or the Large Hadron Collider and I am really stoked to be there!

I was talking about the meetup with @suesa, as she will attend too, and she told me about how she googled it to get some info before we go there. It is, after all, not an every day topic!

But when she googled it, she noticed something weird. Google was suggesting the words, like usual but ... it didn't seem quite right! She was sure the LHC was called "Large Hadron Collider", as a hadron ...

... is a composite particle made of quarks held together by the strong force in a similar way as molecules are held together by the electromagnetic force.
Wikipedia

So it totally made sense. But why did google then propose she'd look for the ...

Large Hardon Collider ?!

Questioning herself, she believed in google and clicked it. Just to be met with mockery.

So it was "Large Hadron Collider" all along. But apparently, the mistake of switching the "d" and "r" happened enough to cause google to recommend it to people.

We both laughed about it but then started to imagine what a "Large Hardon Collider" might look like.

And we laughed some more.

And then I told @klye , who laughed too and promptly illustrated it for our and your viewing pleasure:

--- When two large hardons collide, they make a big, slimy mess and a lot of science is being conducted. ---

Sort:

Sounds like a fun time, would love to check out LHC, nice to hear of some good interpersonal interactions with steem!!

What the hell is this and why are we not funding it?

I could think of some reasons not to xD

t.

Thank you for the honorable mentions and allowing me to illustrate the large hardon collider! <3

I do art commissions folks! Need an expert MS-paint artist to make your
perversions visions a reality? You know who to get. ;)

That was hilarious! It gave me a really good laugh!

"Dear lord, thank you for putting paint and @klye together sometime in recent history"

t.

@yesaye was trying to organize an mspaint storytelling collaboration, you are always welcome

Well done posting this, under "SteemSTEM" and "science" tags and all :D
I love this idea. Large hardon collider. This was the term which made me learn how to correctly write large hardon collider.

I had to google the image, as already few years ago I happened to see a photo of similar topic:

I do not know the original source of the photo, but here you go. This is what I grew up with.

This is why I'm an engineer.

This actually hurt me a bit, physically.

t.

No pain no gain.

That is so painful to watch!

Well close your eyes and enjoy the feeling!

Noooooo! :D

Oh yeeees! ;)

I was tempted to answer 'Oh noooo'... but well :)

Try to search large hardon collider under google trends.
You get this:

lhc.jpg

There is a good reason for that.
See this data table:
https://rio.jrc.ec.europa.eu/en/country-analysis/Finland/key-indicators/26163
We can see Finland clearly has above EU average % of Engineers and Scientists - and they have all their secret fetishes.

That explains a lot. But I was curious, had to go deeper and thought, they clearly must be interested in studying big bang. So I put big bang in google trends and this is what came up.

bigbang.jpg

I am from Finland and all I do is search for penis colliders all day.

Hahahahaha you broke me!

😱😱😱😂🤣🤣

I'm using this post to live out my inner child. Hope you don't collide with the Toms of Finland

EV46181_7_768x470.jpg

Inner child.. large hardons.

Do you want to talk about it?

Nice post and I'm super jealous that you are going to the LHC. Also, the story you outlined above is another great reason why we just can't simply trust the information given to us by the almighty algorithms. I've even had google return totally incorrect math to me. lol - Always double check what you're told! ;)

I don't know how to feel about this post...

So here's a fun fact : Richard Dawkins once misspelled in the same way the full name of the LHC in one of his books, unfortunately it was corrected before publishing.

Steemfest 3, hardons in Switzerland!

Still better than the Lausanne Hockey Club.

Otherwise, let's be hardronic. Yeah this exists already (I however never attended)!

HAHAAHAHAAAHAHA -- how have I never seen this before?!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Large Hard-on Collider, wow! And nice touch with the little anti-matter hard-ons and quark-gluon-plasma hard-ons flying every which way lol 😂

yes
please and thank you space nerd here

can't believe this thread, so hilarious . I would emphasize "Large" .. has to be large or it's not going to collide.

amazing post thanks for sharing all of your post was amazing carry on upvoted and resteemed

Lol just funny one..

For a great window into the minds of stupid people just type "how come" and a letter into the google search.

Thats what we need. Some reasons to laugh on steem :D Thanks, reggae

Una manera muy divertida de explicar la realidad, la internet y la ciencia buenisimo tu post saludos.

I'm glad steemstem is really going to the clouds with these arrangements, and who best than with @,suesa?
Honestly concerning the Google misinterpretation it happens these way a person who doesn't really focus will lose steps and be misguided, I'm glad it didn't even misled you guys here,
And oh! It ends up in laughter.
@reggaemuffin, you going too?

lol. It's really funny. I wonder which of you is more laughing. @reggaemuffin

I'm still laughing, although slightly ashamed :P

Nice post sir thank you for sharing

you create a great post....i impressed to see your post.... Lot of thanks for Sharing this informative and valuable post....best of luck brother....

This post is about swollen members flying into each other at ball shattering speeds ... did you read it?

yes i reed it...and your topic is logicaly...so i like it..if i say some wrong ?pleace forgave me

Nice post! Abaut science and reality. Greetings.

ohhhhh My God both personalities, Science is on at its peak.

Super power :)

So many people have made that typo it may have led to a whole genre of Amazon erotic novels on the topic of large hard-on collisions. I say may because I am scared to check.

People on the internet always talk about how CERN is filled with a bunch of dildos. Who knew they were so literally correct.

Based on my preparatory reading for our upcoming visit, the Large Hardon Collider is on the cusp of a new, hotly debated particle, the Phallon, which, to quote a recent Large Hardon Collider press release, "is sort of like a Boson, but different."

It's amazing work they're doing down there, all the way back to their initial discoveries of the Charmknob, Strangedong and the all important Up/Down Tadgers!

Can't wait to see the facility in person!

SteemSTEM orgy that creates new particles? Sign me in!

ahaha meanwhile in swiss

Okay, I'm dead hahahahahaha I loved this.

OMG, This is what happening right now 😉

That is halarious!

JGV

Haha..... I can relate

Hahhaha, the nsfw tag is secretly what made me open your link. You did not disappoint me with this post @rm. lol

t.

Thanks xD I have to add rm to my mention tool. But it will probably gave me a lot of fasle positives xD

rofl

ok, the #nsfw confused me for a moment... good one :P

shoutouts to @klye for the wonderful art... i remember 2016, my feed was practically ONLY klye-faces... yeah, maybe that's why I never really posted before 2017. No offense, i love the MS Paint art, it was just a bit too dominant :P

This must have been what @klye was talking about the other day!!!!!

Please help me convince @klye to 1v1 dick battle me.

I mean in an artistic way of course.

Hi @reggaemuffin, I do not want to spam with unrelated comments, but I am currently running a project called the Steemit Success Initiative, which is a project that aims to grow Steemit a s a platform, increase the amount of DAUs, and help beginners on the platform develop.
I was in contact with Ned, and he said he is open to talking about my plans to grow Steemit. Before I do that, I need to show him that the project has support - so I am reaching out to witnesses who want to help the Steemit Community grow and develop.

If you are interested in helping in any way, we are looking for any support you can give. You can check out some posts on my page, and feel free to message me too. I have presentations I can send you!

This is 100% accurate! I love it. If you want, hit me up on discord and we can discuss :)

Thank you! Yes I'd love to, what's your username? :)

I'm reggaemuffin on discord too, you can f.e. join steemSTEM to be in a server with me :)

This is too hilarious of a coincidence.

Your name is dope btw, an your muffin logo.

Wow. Funny and pretty gross. Haha. Enjoy the hadron collider! I'd love to see it someday.

Voting for you as a witness / recommended by @jrswab's post! Thanks for your service :)

reggaemuffin , you came out of nowhere and you are killing it in Steem with stunning content. This truly shows that when one is dedicated success does not take long to follow.

reggaemuffin is a straight shooter and I am glad to see that he continues to give solid advice.

How would they move a huge ring under the earth xD

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest and most powerful particle collider, the most complex experimental facility ever built, and the largest single machine in the world.[1] It was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) between 1998 and 2008 in collaboration with over 10,000 scientists and engineers from over 100 countries, as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories.[2] It lies in a tunnel 27 kilometres (17 mi) in circumference, as deep as 175 metres (574 ft) beneath the France–Switzerland border near Geneva.

It is pretty hard to move that thing ;)
