At one with the universe (G27) - a Guzzi SF adventure

Guzzi reached into his bag and passed the tequila to Schmeep Gar.

"Well. It's been fun," he said. "Better than hiding for the rest of my life as an asteroid jockey."

Jazz smiled, took his hand and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. Like an electric feather, coated with the kind of human pheromones that make you really dizzy and confused.

Sapphire smiled. "There may be a way," she said before she disappeared.

"What was that?" Guzzi looked flustered. Then he realised what he had just said, and how it must sound, and he blurted out "For! What... what was that for?"

Jazz still held his hand. Her skin, so soft. And warm.

"Life is short, and often painful," said Jazz softly. Her hair smelled like strawberries. How is that even possible? "And I've learned it sometimes pays to take what the gods of mayhem and mischief throw in your path and embrace it." She drew Guzzi to her, and kissed him on the lips.

Dully, Guzzi registered the sound of explosions coming from the main hall, but then Schmeep Gar was grinding, and this time instead of translating the words, the translator just played some punching guitar lines and AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long filled the room.

She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there

The earth was quaking
My mind was aching

Some sort of powder, or dust, was falling from the ceiling, but Guzzi, hands entwined with Jazz's own, barely noticed. I could die happy, he thought.
