RE: Thoughts Become Things

in #story3 years ago

Thanks! I can't wait. The tech geek part of brain is buzzing. : ) I finally got WiFi connectivity sorted. Since we part in an underground garage and our condo is five stories above I was having trouble figuring out how to get the OTA updates for the car. I learned I can use the iPhone as a hotspot to get those updates downloaded and it can even be done while you're driving.

That is very cool! That also makes a lot more sense. When I read your earlier post I was thinking "wait, how does he not have WiFi". But then I got thinking maybe it was your way of unplugging, so I wasn't going to argue :) It's amazing just how connected everything is these days. I was really digging the heads up display in the BMW we just rented.

Yes, when we finally move from the condo I'll be able to connect directly to the home WiFi and that will be SO much more convenient. This will work for now, thankfully we have unlimited data on our phones or I'd be up a creek. Some of the downloads are massive.

It IS amazing how connected everything is and this is just the beginning. Tesla saves your profile to the cloud so everything in the car (mirrors, seats, radio presets, temp, etc) adjusts automatically in any Tesla you drive.

It's funny you mention heads up displays. I was just telling my wife it would be nice if the Tesla had this for just the most important info. Maybe there's an aftermarket solution. BMW is awesome. They're always on the forefront of tech. I can't wait to see how they compete with Tesla once they catch up. I think they say Tesla is still around 8 years ahead of anyone else. Which model did you rent?

It was the X2 28i I think or something like that. They actually had a couple of options for me to choose from, but as soon as they said BMW I was pretty much sold. I threw some pictures of it in my latest post.

Yes, I know that model. It's a great looking SUV. My brother has the M6 and loves it. Their ride quality is usually a LOT different than an American car.

I really didn't get to play around with it too much. I saw there was a sport and eco mode, but I just left it in the default. We didn't have a lot of time to familiarize ourselves with it between picking it up, packing, and hitting the road the next morning.
