The Inverse Cramer Effect
Jim Cramer used to be a somewhat reliable source for stock tips but over the past few years a phenomenon called the “Inverse Cramer Effect” has been born. It seems like when it comes to 99.9% of his advice the exact opposite of what he predicts tends to happen. Cramer’s record has become uncannily bad. It's become so bad infact that a lot of people have done very well in the market making the exact opposite moves as what he suggests.
If Cramer says a stock is set to perform very well, it’s time to sell. If he says it’s time to sell, you’d better be buying. Considering his record of being wrong his latest comment about this last market drop concerns me. We’ve been due for a huge market downturn for a while. Is this the beginning of it? The markets certainly have retraced quite a bit this morning so far. I had assumed the powers that be would try to postpone a market correction until after the US Presidential election but time will tell. Jim, stay away from my portfolio.
Breathe and Allow Things to Pass
Someone's whose advice I do tend to trust is Warren Buffett. Yes, he's old and some of his investment philosophy does seem outdated at times but his track record is the antithesis of Cramer's and speaks for itself. This Buffett quote captured by attention this past week, not only in terms of investing but for life in general.
We live in such a highly reactionary world right now. At times it seems impossible that cooler heads will prevail. This trend seems to be unfolding all around us right now. People seem unbalanced, unhappy, and completely frazzled. Now more than ever it's important to sit back and observe with logic. It's very rare that something good comes of allowing outside forces to trigger our reactions.
Sometimes we all need that reminder to take a beat and just... breathe.
Squirrel Therapy
Our squirrel therapy has continued this week. Despite the stifling heat and humidity of the late Minnesota summer we've found a way to make it to the park a few times. The humidity levels reached 92% on morning this week!
Despite the crippling heat, communing with nature sure does make the worries of life melt away. We try to either get out first thing in the morning or shortly before sunset when it's cooler. I now have two squirrels that will eat right out of my hand.
Frugality, My Old Friend
Remember when I said a while back that I can't pass up a good bargain? I've been searching for a navy blue blazer to take with me on trips. These things are unbelievably versatile, the Swiss Army knife of mens apparel. You can dress a navy blue blazer down with jeans, a t-shirt, and white sneakers or a button down shirt, and casual shoes if you want to go a little more formal.
Remember that intrusive marketing that I was complaining about the other day in The Pestering? Well, the mighty marketing gods trying to prove me wrong and "the pestering" ended up working in my favor. An email from eBay landed in my inbox and delivered this gift.
This retails $300 and I snagged it for $23 on eBay. This will literally cost more to have dry cleaned than I paid for it but I'm not complaining. All smiles over here.
All for now. Be well, enjoy your weekend, and make the most of this day. Thank you for reading!

I loved the Buffet's quote you mentioned. Being a social species, hunans are impacted by the reactions in their surrounding. It triggers us to and behave mindlessly. In order to be mindful, we need to be logical. It can be attained by emotional control, deep observation and calm contemplation.
92% humidity is pretty high. It makes the whether hotter. Hope you get the relief
Yeah, we're basically tribal beings so we feed off each other's emotions and behavior. I feel like learning to master your reactions are a way of evolving beyond some of our more primal tendencies that tend to create patterns of misery. Yes, the 80 and 90 percent levels feel oppressive. Thankfully, the humidity levels start to dissipate as the day goes on.
I agree.
Every person's prediction can't be true, these are the markets that are not known, they go down, they go up, we all should invest with our thinking and when getting good profit, we should definitely take profit.
You have to find people you trust, this is the hard part. There are patterns in the market for those wise enough to see them.
I'm not sure if you know about it, but there is a community for reflections. You should be able to find it via search if you wanted to. I am probably one of the worst people when it comes to being reactionary. I'm doing my best to change that though. I remembered a speaker I saw a while ago who suggested identifying the things you can't change and the things you can and focusing on the things you can when it comes to a problem. I'm probably able to handle one more major downturn before I need to start working about moving my money into more stable things.
In financial matters there are profound truths in a nutshell. Such as: Don't spend money before you earn it, pay your debts on time, don't buy things you don't need and don't put your eggs in one basket". I try, as much as possible, to follow some advice, but sometimes I have fallen into temptations. Especially in buying things I don't need. hahaha.
That's great about the jacket, it must look "cool" on you. But better to follow the routine of feeding the squirrels. That moment with nature will be good for you and your wife, and for the squirrels who must be happy to see you.
Hope you have a nice Friday today, my friend. Hugs to you
Definitely, those are foundational financial behaviors that will make life far easier! Treating yourself occasionally is okay, I think. I try to treat myself when I achieve something special or for milestones and such. This creates a kind of cycle of self-motivation to push yourself to that next big goal.
This is a wool jacket so I'll have to wait a few months to wear it. It's so hot/humid here right now. The squirrels have been a Godsend for us. We've really enjoyed them this year. I wish you a wonderful weekend Nancy! Take care.
Everyone is waiting for the crypto market to go up for the altcoin
This cycle is so different from past ones. I'm steering clear of alts this time around.
Not all advices really work as it is been said but accepting all might cause distraction.
For sure!
Sometimes we have to trust our own opinions without having to rely too much on an influencer. Currently the crypto market is also down and sometimes someone who can predict crypto prices is often wrong.
Feeding squirrels directly from your hand is an extraordinary experience. You are an animal lover. God bless you
Have a nice day, Eric.
There are certain people I trust but no one is always correct and it's always best to use your own logic to make your final decisions. We've enjoyed the squirrels so much this summer! God bless you too Eliana. Have a wonderful week!

The reflection is quite getting quite so needed as day goes by actually
So he is like a woman? do the opposite of what he/she says and you will be perfect.
