'Finding Coco' - The real life-story of a cat 🐈

in #story6 years ago

Few years back, I could not even imagine that one day, I would spend my life with cats so happily. But, life had planned something different for me. Six months ago, It gifted me an angel in form of a cat. Her name is Coco and today, I am going to tell you her story.

So..

One day, a stranger cat came in my backyard. She was pregnant and also injured because of the road accident she faced a day ago. I was inside my room, when I heard her cries. I immediately rushed to the spot and saw her giving birth to a baby.

Looking at her, I felt a bit nervous and confused as I had no idea about what to do. 😕 But, then, I decided not to disturb her and let her handle the process on her own. When she was finished, I approached her carefully and saw a baby cat enclosed in the amniotic membrane and lying on the ground.

It was the first time I realised how delicate and yet secure a new born is. It really moved something inside me.

It was a cold night. I took both of them inside my house, gave some food to the mother, cleaned the baby a little and encouraged the mother to come close to her baby and take care of her. But, because her back bone was heavily injured, she was not even in mood to look at her baby. She ignored her completely. And, when she got the chance, She even ran away, leaving the child alone.

Now, this pissed me off completely as I was alone and had no idea about feeding and taking care of a baby cat who has not opened her eyes yet. I got really scared for her.

Thinking of the situation as god's wish, I took a few deep breaths, wrapped the baby with cotton, placed her inside a box next to me and went to sleep.

Next morning, when my maid came to my house, she gave me the idea of feeding the baby some milk with the help of cotton. At first, her idea looked stupid to me, but because I currently live in a remote hilly village and animal doctors are not available here, we decided to give it a try.

And, you know what.. her idea worked.
It was a bit difficult in the beginning, but we fed her for a few days until we called an experienced person to help us out. This is how we saved her. And, because of her cocoa coloured fur, I named her, 'Coco'. A nice name for a kitten, isn't it? 😻

After the process, I realised how nursing and saving her life was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. There are a few things in life which nourishes our heart and makes us feel fulfilled. This was certainly one of them.

As the time passed, Coco grew up fast. She learned to play in the garden, climb on the trees, hunt insects and take care of herself. I can not describe how amazing it was to watch her grow.

Later we also brought a partner for her. His name is Cheekoo. In the beginning, she hesitated to mingle with him..

But after some time, they became good friends.

Now, They are living happily. They play together, eat together, and do everything together. Watching them live together so lovingly fills me with joy everyday.

Watching the clouds

And, now I understand why and how life works more intelligently than us. If it would have given us free hand in everything, we would never be able to go beyond our small minds and grow so beautifully. LIFE IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. ISN'T IT?

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France.

Oh my what a story! Coco is so lovely and lucky. I bet her mum's instinct was telling her to leave the baby in order to survive. She wouldn't be able to take care of her injured. Good you were around.

They both look happy :)

Yeah! You're right. The only thing the animals listen to are their instincts.

I am so touched ... so happy, you did such a great job. Life really writes the best stories. So relieved Coco survived and has so much fun with Cheekoo now.

True! Life is the greatest writer. I'm glad you loved reading the story. Coco sends you love ♥️ 😻

I am amazed that Coc survived! What a gift you were given by the poor mother cat

Yeah! Life worked in our favour. I fed her every three hours and gave her reiki every day. And, later when we got a doctor who syringe fed her, we knew all is well :) Thank you. Coco sends love 💕😻

You did a great job. Coco reminds me my cat "Pao", she had left the house after giving birth to 4 kittens.

Posted using Partiko Android

Thanks. I hope you took care of them. You can share some of their photos. I would love to see :)

I took care of them almost 2 months, It was very difficult situation for me to feed 4 kittens but some how I managed. Now all four are in good hands, all has been adopted. I can not take care of them because of travelling.
Cats always do this, after giving birth to kittens they left the house in few days or whenever they got the chance to escape.

It's good to know that they survived. And, yeah! Cats usually show this behaviour, specially when they are stressed.

No English, no french, I only speak Spanish, un abrazo.

The story of coco is spectacular from beginning to end ... I realized that the name "coco" can be used for an He and a She.

Now, tell me something. What kind of milk did you give the little coco? I understand that breast milk is necessary for the development of the baby. Is there milk for cats and I have not heard? I mention it because once, my mom fed a puppy and died after a few days, because it was milk for humans that was giving him.

The other thing is I'm agree with you in the part when you say: "I realized how delicate and yet secure a new born is." in fact the photo of coco in her amniotic membrane is SPECTACULAR. I had never seen anything like that. she was very strong.

Thank you for sharing with us the spectacular cycle of coco life .

Yeah! Normal milk is harmful for newborns. Luckily, I had some milk replacement powder of dogs. First day, I fed her with it. But next day, i got the milk replacement powder of cats as well and then everything worked out fine. You can also buy it, next time you face the similar situation. I think it's available everywhere. Thank you. I'm glad you like it. Love from Coco 😻

Thank you @himalayannomad for sharing this story with us. Coco mother no where to be seen after the day she gave birth to Coco?
I could feel the joy and happiness when you watched Coco become healthy and playful. What sort of milk you fed her? Fresh milk? Coco really is a lucky cat because she met an angle. You were her mother since the first person she saw when she open her eye was you, you took care of her now even brought her another friend.
I love the photo where both of them watching the cloud. It so peaceful.
You have an angle heart @himalayannomad. Now Coco how many months old now? I wonder what happen with her mother.

@oliviackl I didn't see her mother again. And, I fed her milk replacement powder that comes specially for newborn cats . Thank you so much for your warm words! :)

Very sad and unexpected that a mother cat left her new born like that. You have any idea is this normal to a mother cat?

Posted using Partiko Android

Yeah! Sometimes, Cats display this behaviour, specially if they are under stress or have some physical issues.

Posted using Partiko Android

I didn‘t aware that cats also have such behaviour. Luckily Coco gave birth in front of your house. What a lucky kitten. now has playmate and love from your family.

What a beautiful story! I am so glad that none of the cats die too, of course it's sad that the mama cat left her baby, but at least she's still healthy enough to escape even after such injury. Good for you for managing to take care of Coco, and also with a brother now :D.

Congrats for your curie vote ^_^.

Thank you @scrawly. They are soul mates.. ♥️ and not siblings. Love from Coco 😻

The picture of that cat inside an amniotic membrane, I can't unsee. It's a heartwarming story. I can relate on some level. I also rescue cats being dumped somewhere and take them to my hope. Once they grow up and capable of finding mates, they leave me for weeks. Then they come back with more cat babies. It's a curse.

it's nice. You must be having fun a lot of fun with those cats. Why call it a curse? It's a blessing.

More mouths to feed and more night time meows to keep me awake at night. Those fur balls are fun but these have needs. I'm just lucky they got adopted. Can't take in too many cats if I can't feed them all.

I take off my virtual hat for you! Congratulations on such an achievement! I will honestly say that I am not a cat person (mother leaving her child behind is just one of the reasons why - but this is just a personal opinion) but the way you took care of this little baby is amazing. I'm happy that the lady gave you the idea to use the cotton and you saved this cute kitten!

Also, it's so nice from you to bring a friend for Coco so that she doesn't feel alone. Maybe she was firstly feeling that the other cat will take away your attention and this is why she didn't really accept him at the beginning.

I'm glad that they formed friendship at the end and now are the best buddies forever.

Your photos are very good! I love the one where they are watching clouds and the other one below this one where they are cuddling together - so cute!!

Thank you for sharing!

@delishtreats thank you for the compliment and sharing your thoughts. I'm happy you loved her story. Love from Coco 😻
