The Fabulous Four

in #story5 months ago

Even inside my own head it seems pretty chaotic - the the woobly and meandering line of work hours I use on then this and then that project. When I am not whipping myself into doing just one thing I tend to do a lot of things simultaneously. Same with books. I have no problem reading 5-6-7- books at a time.

But today I was working on my first role playing scenario which I plan to put out as CC-by as is the rule with this project. It is about four old hippie ladies who meet up in the great forests of Michigan in the autumn of 2020 and from there... well mystery, possibly horror, hopefully fun for those brave enough to try it out.

My working title has been "The Fabulous Four" and as work is progressing pretty well I just thought that I would check again to make sure it is not in use ...............

LOOK WHAT I FOUND! Premiere July 26 - 2024

Not at all the same, still COMPLETELY THE SAME! WTF! I will need to find a new title.

A roleplaying game is a strange way to tell a story. And making a written scenario so people can play your story is even more strange. In my case I have chosen to have four pre-made characters - which is, the leading roles, the ones that the players will play. As a GM using my text you will play the rest of the world, tell the players what their character see, hear and smell and to that part you will provide them with maps, descriptions, supporting roles (which are called Non-Player-Characters - short NPC) and maybe some advice on how to go about the whole thing.

But pretty crazy. I have chosen to have these four predefined characters and decided on four stereotypes so the players had something to work with. And even though what I have though up is pretty far from this - stereotype wise this come pretty close :)

Here's the silly trailer :)

Sort:

Haha I've known a lot of old hippy women, am one myself and am rather older than any of these broads. That trailer had me laughing out loud, even though the jokes were standard fare for a Hollyweird comedy about older women.

I have no idea how to play one of these games you're making. I know you've been into this since you were very young, and will likely make a fabulous game. I would love to see what folks have these women do.

I've known a good few too. So that is what I will base this on...

It is the first time I actually try to write a game. It is something completely different from just playing. In essense it is a story where you deliver all the elements, place, history, and characters. For that reason it can also be read without having to okay it.

I never really did play from such texts, but I thought it could be interesting to try, and as my daughter, my brother and I was talking about doing a Kickstarter where we made such a scenario that was to go with some models and our drawings, it could be a fun experiment.

it could be a fun experiment.

and another fun project for you to have on your to-do list. A family affair too. I love knowing your daughter is involved. Otherwise, I have no idea what you are talking about! I'm a little old hippy lady.

The idea of pre-rolled characters is an interesting approach. Never played a table top session like that before. Single player video games will oft times give you a hero to play. Your module sounds very interesting.

My knowledge of premade adventures are quickly exhausted, but I don't think I have seen that either in one of those. I have only tried it with this game and it went in very, very different directions. So for that reason I thought that it would be possible to make the player interpret the characters I made and still have fun.

For me it is an experiment to write such a scenario at all.

So for that reason I thought that it would be possible to make the player interpret the characters I made and still have fun.

It seems to me that it would be fun and somewhat unique.

That's a freaky coincidence. At least we can search for clashes. You really need a unique name for things now and it needs to be something you can search for. I have a very common name, so I might have to change it if I was really pursuing a music career.

I must say it is, but at least I for once collided with the mainstream. I'll think up a better name. If nothing else it was kind of weak for a mystery game. Looking forward to hearing when you find that rockstar name of yours :)

While it's frustrating to find a similar title already in use, it's also an opportunity to come up with something even more unique. Best of luck with your project, I'm sure it'll be a hit!

Thanks, mate :)
