Once there was a young man as beautiful as the day, honest as gold, and strong and bold as Samson. He was the son of a widowed marchioness, the son of a wicked-as-hell marchioness. The two lived together in a superb castle.
One evening, the marquess said to his mother:
“Mother, I am madly in love with Belle Madeleine. I intend to marry her in three days. Do you consent to our marriage?"
The marchioness did not respond.
“Mother, I guess what you are thinking. You are afraid of a daughter-in-law. You are afraid of no longer commanding in this castle. Do not be afraid. You will always be mistress there. Belle Madeleine will be your first servant. Do you consent to our marriage?"
The marchioness did not respond.
“Again, Mother, do you consent to our marriage?"
"No."
"Well, mother, I am old enough to do without your consent."
Three days later, the marquess married Belle Madeleine and took her to his superb castle.
“Listen, wife. My mother hates you with all her heart. She's afraid she won't order here anymore. I intend that she will always be mistress there. You will be her first servant."
"Marquess, you will be obeyed."
What was said was done. The marchioness remained mistress of the castle, and Belle Madeleine was her first servant. However, the marchioness hated her daughter-in-law with all her heart and was preparing for the right moment to quarrel her to death with her husband.
A year later, Belle Madeleine gave birth to two twin daughters, as pretty as hearts.
But happiness doesn't last.
One fine morning, the marquess received a letter.
“Mother, wife, listen. The king calls me to war. In an hour I'll be gone. Do not Cry. You will hear from me. Take care of my two daughters. Take care of them well. Mother, I want you to always be mistress here. Wife, I intend for you always to be my mother’s first servant."
"Marquess, you will be obeyed."
An hour later, the marquess left for war, mounted on his large black horse.
Belle Madeleine did not forget her promise. She took good care of her two daughters. The marchioness was always the mistress of the castle. Belle Madeleine was her first servant.
For seven years, the marquess often gave his news. The war was still going on.
The two twin sisters were always pretty, as pretty as hearts, wise as little saints. Twenty times a day, the marchioness made them cry. But Belle Madeleine took care of them. The poor children already knew how to recite their prayers and catechism by heart. With their mother, they learned to read, sew and spin.
In all his letters, the marquess never failed to note:
“Take care of my two daughters. Take care of them well. Mother, I want you to always be mistress. Wife, I intend for you always to be my mother’s first servant."
However, the marquise hated her daughter-in-law with all her heart and was preparing for the right moment to quarrel her to death with her husband.

I am writing translations of folk tales that I found in public domain French books, so that people who do not understand French may enjoy them too.
The marchioness is the evil mother-in-law, and Belle Madeleine is the obedient wife.
The marquess should have realized that his mother would torture his wife, Belle Madeleine, and his two daughters, but he did not. What will happen later? Will the marquess believe the lies of his mother or the truth from Belle Madeleine?
Kati's mother's birthday was actually yesterday, November 13th. We celebrated with the family the day before, because it was a Sunday and some people needed to work yesterday.
In the morning, the two granddaughters of Kati made another birthday cake. So we celebrated again Kati's mother's birthday.
After that, seven of us went for a walk in a forest that is less than one kilometer from Kati's mother's house.
We went around a small lake.
In the picture below you can see Gabi, Kati's sister, her son Dani (Daniel), Agi and her two daughters, and Gabor, Kati's younger son.
The name of the valley where this forest is is written on this construction: Éger völgy, which means "Alder valley".
Dani is a farmer, among other things. He is raising sheep, deer, and mouflons. After sunset, we went to feed the mouflons.
You can see that the mouflons are not too afraid of Kati's granddaughters.
In June, the two males were always hiding from humans. Obviously, this is no longer the case.

It's good of the Marquess to choose his own path against the wishes of his mother and marry the woman he loved. It is also good he made sure peace reigned in his home by making sure his wife respected the Machioness his mother. The only trouble is that his wife and two beautiful daughters are in danger because of the hatred of the Machioness for them. But I believe the wisdom of the wife of the Marquess will help her keep herself and her daughters safe from the wickedness of her mother in law. Indeed upon his return the Marquess will be forced to take sides between his wife and his mother in law but being a man of wisdom we expect him to manifest prudence.

It's good the celebrations were extended to today, and all went quite well. The farm you folks paid a visit to seems an interesting one. This is the first time I'm hearing of deers being reared like livestock. Indeed, yesterday must have been a great day for you all.

Here again with the new story. It's interesting and I'm understanding it well. I think it's not fair that your son is truly in loved with someone but you refused to Mary because of your own insecurities that's not good attitude. Make her a part of your family with happy heart. But if you are not ready for it and it happened than accept the situation and don't hate her give her love .
I think you are right she is a evil mother who wanted to kill daughter in law and by doing this she lost her son too. Their is some mystery in his word's in letter. Waiting for next part.

Wow! Another interesting tale. I don't really understand why the marchioness didn't want her son to get married. Some woman are so evil, or she wanted to be the only one her son should be royal to. Even after the son told her that his wife will be servant over her, she was still not happy. Hmmmmm! This one is serious oo, I mean the wife was very obedient but her mother in-law hated her so much. This is related to real life situations, that's her some mother in-laws behave😅 what pained me is that the marquess knew fully well that his mother hated his wife but he went to war and left her in his mothers custody, at least he would have found a way to separate them. I cannot still imagine the kind of evil the marchioness is cooking for her daughter in-law, she is definitely going to turn her son against the daughter in-law. I can't help but hope she's safe.

If we talk about the story, I think this is the story which we mostly seen in reality.
She was an evil mother in law and wants that her son do not get married with that young girl.
I think here, husband was not doing justice and he is responsible to give her wife her true position.
Wives are not servants to their mothers and She is also mistress to his house.
She is raising his childrens and also serves alot of his mother, in return she deserve kindness from her husband and in laws.
The Marchioness is really wicked and not just that she wanted to remain the Mistress of the castle but because she was just a very difficult person. Now the Marquess has assured her that the wife he would marry would be a servant but yet she remains adamant. Now her grandchildren, twin daughters were born, her attitude still remains the same.
The Marquess is a weakling for him not to really see the true colour of his Mom and put her in check.
I'm so sorry for Belle Madeleine, for everything she's being subjected to.
So the birthday celebration continued the next day, I just love the family togetherness and love.
The Marquess has been described as bold, strong and honest but by his character towards his wife, Belle Madeleine, he does not strike me as someone who has all those qualities.
Firstly, as a Marquess, his wife was supposed to be the Marchioness but he allowed his wife to become a mere servant to his Mother. In the life of every man, the wife and Mom should have their own space. So I would say that the Marquess was not fair by leaving Belle Madeleine at the mercy of the Marchioness.
I just love the view of the Lake, shimmering blue.

The end of the previous story has also been very good and it has been very interesting but a new story has started and after reading it I would like to say here that love is what happens to a person at some point in time.
The way this prince's son has fallen in love with a working girl and she was his mother's servant and he was repeatedly saying here that his mother should marry him. But his mother was not responding and it was too much trouble, so one day he was in trouble and forced by his love to marry this girl and his mother didn't like it at all.
And his mother was saying that I will kill your wife and then time passed after a year his wife gave birth to two beautiful daughters she was very beautiful and then he had a war. I had to go and I went saying that I should not take care of my mother and I went by telling my mother to take care of the children and also take care of my wife but his mother was oppressing his wife. But she did not say anything to the children and the war that was going on was getting longer and the time had passed seven years.

Here comes another interesting tale. The Marchioness is not a good mother. When the Marquess travelled, his mother was maltreating his wife and his two daughters, but Belle was obedient to her husband and was still obeying Machioness his mother.
I just hope she continues to respect Marchioness until Marquess is back from the war. Well, we will get to know in the next story.
The month of November is actually a month of celebration for Kati's mother and I wish her many more years in Jesus name. Amen

It's been a while since I've been on Hive and one day while scrolling I came across your post. Then I read your Post Story for the first time. The name of story was (flock tales from Gascony the bastard part 1) After reading this story I used to wait for your post everyday to see what will happen next in this story . All the stories you wrote are very good and I have read all the stories written by you so far and I am starting to read your previous stories too. You describe the story in very good words and your writing style is very good . There must be some lesson in each of your stories. This story also makes us see the picture of reality because it is happening like this in many places around us. There are many stories which we only call philosophy but in reality they are happening in many places around us. I can't wait to see what happens next in this story
At first I was beginning to wonder and imagine how beautiful the man must have been. So much handsomeness in that man and if only there can be a pictorial representation of how it goes. I think the young man must have really been lost in love affection. Blinded by love which is really powerful. To really desire to marry her in few days shows how much he love her. I am still very hopeful how it will ends in the following series or episode of this story.
I strongly believe this will be interesting to read. Another new story to follow.
