Chester Streets, UK - #streetphotography Contest

in #streetphotography7 years ago

Hello, this time I want to share with you some beautiful #streetphotography of the city of Chester.

I was there last August, visiting my friend. We spent most of our time in London, but we simply could not skip this one out.

Chester's a really beautiful city, I love the uneven floors in the really old buildings! Where were you visiting from? We work in Cheshire and Chester quite a lot, definitely can't complain in terms of location!

You are lucky to be there often, it is very charming. I was visiting from Slovenia once and then last year from Canada.

It's a lovely place, if you are back in the UK I'd recommend checking out York (Kind of like Chester but a bit more old world-ey) and the Lake District (Just beautiful scenery!) Although if you're living in Canada now you're probably not short of beautiful scenery! I visited Vancouver and Whistler with my wife last year, we'd both always wanted to go to Whistler so tacked it on to a visit to Portland for a conference. We both just fell in love with the place and the people! We have a lot of friends in the industry from Alberta/Edmonton/BC....all over really. I think the politeness unites us!

What a beautiful city! I especially like the clock on the bridge

I agree with you @bypaul!

"Eastgate and Eastgate Clock in Chester, Cheshire, England, stand on the site of the original entrance to the Roman fortress of Deva Victrix. It is a prominent landmark in the city of Chester and is said to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben.
The original gate was guarded by a timber tower which was replaced by a stone tower in the 2nd century, and this in turn was replaced probably in the 14th century. The present gateway dates from 1768 and is a three-arched sandstone structure which carries the walkway forming part of Chester city walls. In 1899 a clock was added to the top of the gateway to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria two years earlier. It is carried on openwork iron pylons, has a clock face on all four sides, and a copper ogee cupola. The clock was designed by the Chester architect John Douglas. The whole structure, gateway and clock, was designated as a Grade I listed building on 28 July 1955.[1]"
