Nice review!

Will I release the source code?
NO. The reason being that it could be used to do massive spamming. The real purpose of the bot was to get to know better the Steem API.

I encourage you to release the source code. There is already the deterrent for massive spamming - flags. Spammers get flags, but someone else can learn from your code.

Flowers grow best in the sunlight 🙂

I may release it, but once I've worked though it as It is kinda messy at this moment XD

The point is, if the way I'm doing this bot can be considered spam or not

I guess it is spam to be honest, by definition. If users are enjoying it and you don't attract flags then I'd say that's a tacit blessing from the community.

You might try to add something useful to your message for new people or something.

But on the source, well most source is messy. You very rarely "arrive" at the mystical land of "clean code" and in my opinion it's best to involve other eyeballs along the way. But your call 😁

I vote for release. Your code publishing unlikely make a harm to steemit :) Bot comments will be flagged in case of spam.

Is this bot still working or does it cost to much resource credits now after the hardfork? I want a bot like this.@moisesmcardona

Well i would say that you have really done a great job. Not everybody may appreciate it but the thing is that you are trying to make the steemit platform a better place and i love that. Keep it up mate .

nice purpose!! upvote and following

You used the Steem Python Library? It didn't run on my pc :(

I'm running it on Linux. On Windows I had issues

This is a great experiment and very helpful. Thanks and keep up the good work :)

Thank you! 🙂

Nice :) I enjoy reading keep it up

Great post! I was curious about the bot and you provided some really good information. I was appreciative of the bot on my welcome. You start off hoping to get a good start and bot welcome is inviting.

I just personalized the message to invite the people to reply to the bot if they have any questions. That way, I can interact a lot more with the community and easily help them ☺.

Wow its amazing that you made this bot and that you take the time to welcome new members of steemit! I think its great that you are this way, I am follwoing you now :D, thank you for sharing what you have been doing to help others here in steemit!! :3

You're welcome. The main purpose of the article was to let the community know about what I did. Some were taking it like I was spamming, but I myself consider that welcoming people is a nice thing to do. I would never ever do a bot to spam in people's posts.

I think its a really nice thing to welcome people with the bot you created, since its you, and I agree with you that you are not doing spam, so to me its great that you took the time to explain to everybody :D!

Thanks for your support 🙂

You are welcome 🙂

Hey I've been greeted by this bot ! Although the fact that you add like "made by a bot" kinds of defeat the whole point, when I red your comment I was like "oh well a guy spams everything hoping to get upvotes from newcomers"

I now see that you have no ill intentions so it's nice :)

I like the fact that you went full disclosure on it.

I though it was better to let people know it was a bot. As I said in this article, I don't mention something like "if you like this message, please upvote it." which is something I've seen on other posts. Also, the fact that I'm human means I read everything posted, and I definitely read the replies the bot was getting and replying to some 🙂

Next month will be my first year around here and I've really enjoyed being part of this community so far.

This bot was, for the most, a learning experience since it introduced me into the Python world.

glad to hear that :) this what I ment by "no ill intentions"

I thought it was quite cute and you stated upfront that it was a bot. I can understand how some could see it as spammy but it was just harmless fun

Exactly my point and exactly the reason as to why I added the line saying it was a bot 🙂

Glad you liked it!

You want to put some AI in and get it to converse with people. That would be super cool.

I'd love to learn AI. That would be fun!

It's the way forward for you. You can set up a basic AI very simply.

🙂 In the meantime, I added a more friendlier message saying if they have any questions, to reply to me. I guess it will be better that way.

I'm sure that will be fine. Nice to get a little welcome from whatever source. There are many bots here anyway so what's the harm?

Well I had some more witty question than thank you so I got a very random reply. But kudos... just hope it was a real person.

I'm a real person indeed 😃

I am really excited about the bot, but I know you would not share the code with the other Steemers @moisesmcadona.
