You are absolutely right and I agree with everything you've said. We are too far along into their development and now they can't be stopped. We can only hope that enough people come together to oversee the development so that AI doesn't go rogue. Elon Musk's OpenAI initiative seems to be one such project but let's see how successful it becomes.
