That's the long term commitment you need to keep as an investor. Sometimes, you might decide to alter your time frame based on whether you achieved your ROI goal or not. Also, one of the lessons I learned from studying the way warren buffet invests is that he would never sell an asset (a cashflow producing investment) unless he uses this capital to buy a bigger asset with a higher cashflow. Robert Kiyosaki also uses the same investment philosophy in real estate.
