Chinese traditional medicine did not classify and specify muscles as anatomical elements and functions like western. Concept of muscle was developed by following paths of 12 meridians which systematically connecting the internal organs of the human body. Therefore muscles have no specific names defined in each parts of body and are considered as sub-families of meridians. Now integrated with Western detailed muscle theory, it provides rich perspectives on the application of ancient meridians.
