I wish I had time for a little bit of time for some time to myself. Unfortunately, time escapes me.
I don't mind that much though really as all the things that are going on are quite interesting across most of the fronts. The issue this week is finding the time to get the various tests done before my infusion on Friday, which is a bit of a hassle as there are a couple more than usual and I wasn't able to get a decent booking time.
I probably have a few work trips coming up too with one likely confirmed on late notice for next week. While I am looking forward to training abroad, on such short notice it sets some challenges as my wife will also be away for the day at the same time so we need a babysitter (grandparents) to do a much longer day than they are used to with her. It can be tiring on them of course.
But, these are challenges that we knew we would face from time to time and they knew also when I took the job. In a few months when my wife finally graduates, these types of things will be much easier to deal with, as will the weekends. I love being with my daughter but there is literally no moment during the week or weekend that I am alone. Well, after she goes to bed at night and I start working or writing I am alone but, working or writing. It does get tiring but the light at the end of the tunnel helps.
Steem is actually partly a break time for me, which is kind of awesome really considering many people use Facebook or scroll Instagram during their down periods. Steem is do much more engaging and useful for a host of reasons with earning some Steem on top an added bonus. At some point, people are going to realise how sticky Steem can be in the hearts and minds of users and it will take off.
I think a lot of people are somewhat put off by the amount of work it can take to make a significant amount in Steem but, it takes very little work to make something and that something can be produced in so many different ways and many of them are enjoyable.
It has saved my mind and nerves often enough by being able to interact here and there, drop a comment or take a few minutes to post some thoughts in this or that. Writing for me is cathartic and may not be for everyone but usecases for the Steem Blockchain are developing all the time and more and more will discover parts that draw them in.
I have said it before that what I find is that the people who have the worst time here do so because their expectations of the moment are incompatible with the possibilities of the moment and then they take a position because it is not possible now, it never will be. More timeline issues and occasionally I suffer these things too.
While I look long on Steem, it is difficult at times not to want results faster, especially when the benefits of those results will improve my current situation and relieve various pressures both financial and personal when it comes to time. Given a situation if a steady income stream from Steem, I would be able to be slightly more choosy with some of the work and do a little more of the things I love, not just like or tolerate. Who wouldn't want the results faster?
But, I am also not going to complain as I know that there is no point as there is an order of process which includes, retraining the world on how the internet can work and empower them in more ways than just fill their attention with entertainment and advertising opportunities.
What I see as the value of the attention economy is when rather than having our attention drawn to marketing shill, we will be drawn to each other and outreach various talents as well as communities that are built, managed and most importantly, owned by us. When we are all consumer, contributor and investors in our own success, the way we gather, discuss and collaborate changes drastically.
While there are many teething pains now and many more to come, it is all part of a growing conversation that will shift into a global movement that will hold billions of voices, many of which were never heard before.
Pretty interesting times to be a part of in my opinion and on Steem, everyone can have a front row seat if they choose and, access to the stage.

I agree with you I see this as like medicine and I relax on here. my mind escapes the daily grind and I disappear on here. I know others see this as the grind, but I don't.
It is a nice way to start or end the day and I find that scrolling through on my coffee break is more rewarding too. Just think that someone scrolls instagram adding hearts to selfies whereas we scroll Steem and add tradeable value to people's work. Bit of a difference.
As I have finally gotten up to date on my feed I am enjoying the engagement more as well as it is great to have something to look forward to when downtimes come up. While today it is sharing and commenting, we have learned that possibilities seem limitless as the ecosystem continues to broaden and create new ways to engage very often.

As more people come in, there will be a wider range of services demanded combined with a broader set of skills and ideas. It can keep expanding for s very long time and potentially evolve into something very different from today.
Speaking of marketing, I'm glad I finally had a positive response when I talked about Steam a couple of days ago.

Had they been drinking? :D
At some point people are going to be asking about it I hope and others coming in and finding you here saying, why didn't you tell me??
That guy is one of the few people who really, as in actual fact, tend to think outside the box.
I also brought Steem up in the process of showing some of my photos at the go club yesterday when the two visiting ones had already left town. What I got in response was not the kind of dismissal or a blank look of having seen a ghost or something that I had encountered before but some sense of the other person processing what I was saying. I mentioned that I'd much rather do my photography publishing on a forum that allows me to benefit from it this way with the reward mechanism slowly ticking over rather than hand over the fruits of my efforts to some billionaires for free. :)
I'm expecting being told "why didn't you tell me" if this thing pans out. I guess the crucial difference between this time and the ones before was that I didn't have to listen to any nonsense.
$rewarding 25% 15 min
A previous command crashed rewarding, sorry for this. It is now fixed and works again.
THe nonsense is going to be the thing that they will slowly overcome and start to change their tune as if it was all their idea. In time, people will find what they once rejected very natural behaviour and most likely, will feel as early adopters anyway.
More or less, what you are saying is that people have become attached to positive results right away and not the process of getting to those results.
Instant gratification has been an issue for a very long time but in the past there was less opportunity to get it across all areas without action. These days, it is very easy to get the feedback loop without doing much at all.
That pic was clickbait. She's so cute!
I'm glad you're just a few months away from things getting much easier. It does sound like you and your wife have an awful lot on your plates. Glad also that steem is proving to be a respite in the storm. I experience an ebb and flow of that. Sometimes it's a great way to "power down" here and there during the day, and sometimes it feels like a burden and distraction from "real life." I'm still striving for the right balance and time commitment. But I do see great things for the future of this ecosystem.
I don't have boobs so I need some hook. =) She is getting cuter everyday.
I am hoping that in time there will be more real-life ties to Steem through daily usage, purchases and interactions where there are various apps that tie people together from their personal circles.
Indeed Steemit is like the child. Exciting and with so much potential to develop. Unseen but eventually realized. Thanks @tarazkp
So cute...
