If I may posit a theory: the value of an upvote is essentially worthless on most platforms - at least in the eyes of an individual. So most people probably overlook that step in showing appreciation of value.
In a world where it usually takes hundreds of thousands of upvotes to mean anything, what does it really matter if I upvote or not? (Kind of like voting in the U.S.) Perhaps the impact of the Steem platform and others like it might not have quite sunk in yet, or may even be tainted by the monetization as a another way of somebody trying to profit from me.
For the record, I've upvoted every one of your posts I've viewed and even a lot of your comments and replies, and have been sharing it with my friends in crypto.
But perhaps it really is a sort of paradigm shift of meaning that hasn't hit home yet for many viewers. I hardly ever "react" to Youtube videos or the like (other than to save or share), and I'm sick of social media in a lot of ways, but I've joined Steem just to be able to see your videos, comments, and feedback.
Hopefully, your post about upvotes meaning something to you will be accepted and will create a reaction, but I hope you're not discouraged from continuing to share because it really is appreciated.
Maybe there's a better metric like a high percentage of views or something, but please know your work is appreciated. You're practically regarded as a saint on the Slack group if that tells you anything!
Please keep it up where it's enjoyable for you, I know I speak on behalf of many many traders when I say Thank You!
