The Three Sisters, 'Meehni', 'Wimlah' and Gunnedoo' encountered tribal laws that forbade them from marrying three brothers from another tribe. The three
brothers forcefully captured the three sisters, but a witch doctor turned the three sisters into stone to protect them from danger.
The Three Sisters is a rock formation that towers above the Jamison Valley (Blue Mountains) in beautiful orange/yellow rock depending on the time of day, as sadly the witch doctor died and only he had the power to return them to flesh.
Just putting it out there, Queen Elizabeth II said the Blue Mountains is the most beautiful place in the world.
The Blue Mountains 30 years ago certainly was beautiful. Katoomba is now way too commercial. My Uncle lived for many years in Wentworth Falls and my cousin and I used to climb the sisters.
Mum grew up in Mt Victoria and my Grandmother's family ran the tea house in Mt Wilson early last century. Dad is a Penrith/Waragamba native. So I have quite a connection to the Blue Mountains.
That is interesting. Ever since Queen Elizabeth's comment, tourism has definitelysky-rocketed, so there's definitely money to be made. There is definitely a lot of commercial opportunity and money to be made.
Ethical or not, I think it's important that everybody visits the Blue Mountains at least once so they can verify for themselves whether or not that statement is in fact true!
Oh, agreed. I can't believe the development between Penrith and Richmond down on the Nepean. I lived in Penrith 20 years ago and fished the Nepean extensively. Now all the scrub has been cleared and it is horse farms and subdivisions all the way. Quite incredible how fast it has happened.
