Two Towers, Bologna. This part of the city, built when Bologna was at the peak of its power and wealth, was once dotted with towers. In fact, one of Bologna’s many affectionate nicknames is “la turrita,” or the “city of many towers.” There were once hundreds of towers in the city; some were built for defensive purposes and many others built by powerful families, continually attempting to one-up each other.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Australian Monday week #35 - winner announcement!
@vinceboisgard Australian Monday entry:
The Great Ocean road really is a nice drive, especially when the sun is out. You can do it in a few days to really enjoy the sceneries. These are the famous 12 apostles or what left of it! They are slowly disappearing because of the ocean erosion.

@marc-allaria Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:
I still try to propose underwater photography for the Tuesday World Oceans contest ! This week a nice red gorgonia shot around Pasoso Island in Sulawesia. A lot of current kept the sea really clear as you can see. On the gorgonia, you can see a black comantula which is the same family of sea star.

Tomas
CEO & Founder of CGH
My only visit to Stockholm, Sweden happened in summer of 2009. But it was only an 8 hour layover before catching a ferry to Tallinn, Estonia. I do wish I cared more about photography at that point, because even 8 hours would've given me some great photos. But I do have this one of Riddarholm Church. This church, the burial place of Swedish monarchs, is one of the oldest buildings in Stockholm with parts of it over 700 years old.
Another picture taken early evening in Florence, along the River Arno, where the lights on the building reflects nicely on the river. The blocky style buildings along the river is pretty characteristic of Florence, and you can see that they hang slightly over the river, with the ground level lined with shops. Pretty interesting!
Beautiful Florence, glad to have another image from that amazing place.
Thanks Tomas
Scottish Crocodile, Isle of Eigg
Isle of Eigg is one of the Inner Hebrides, islands located off the western coast of mainland Scotland. Craggy and sparsely populated, the jagged cluster of islands is dotted with Iron Age sites and traces of the earliest Christians to see this part of the world. The islands have a greater percentage of Gaelic speakers than anywhere else in Scotland, save their neighbors to the west, the Outer Hebrides. In many ways, walking along the rocky coast of Eigg was a bit like stepping out of the twenty-first century and into some distant point in the past.
I can see where it got its name from:)....
Schladming, Austria
Originally a small mining town, Schladming is now a famous winter sports resort which hosted FIS Alpine World Ski Championships twice (1982 and 2013). Four interconnected ski mountains (Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm) offer more than 167 kilometres of pistes.
Yep, that sure is an excellent place. Thank you for sharing your image with all of us.
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia is the main tourist attraction of the Bulgarian capital. It was built in Neo-Byzantine style and is the second largest cathedral on the Balkan Peninsula. The best time to visit this impressive building, is shortly after sunset, when the lighting is switched on and there is a deep blue sky in the background.
What an amazing looking sky and great entry!
Thanks a lot! 🙂
The photo was taken on a roadtrip to Barcelona. This is Girona in Spain. There is a river flowing through the city, crossed by several bridges and accompanied by colorful houses stacked on each other right besides the river. right here i am standing on one of those bridges.
Thanks ever so much for your contribution.
Bastei in Saxon Switzerland, Germany
Just as the neighbouring Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic that I visited afterwards, the Saxon Switzerland is part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and features an impressive landscape. This viewpoint is located at the Bastei.
1/500s; 12mm; f/11.0; ISO 100
I have also posted this photo on my blog.
What an amazing looking nature. Thank you for your participation.
This amazing beach is called Cala Mitjana and is located on one of the best preserved islands in all the Mediterranean: the island of Menorca (Balearic islands, Spain). Its almost pristine nature, as well as its translucent waters, make the visit worthwhile!
Thank you so much for your contribution. Truly appreciated. Kindly stay tuned for the winner announcement coming later on today.
For a small country, Montenegro is filled with amazing sites, such as Lake Skadar National Park. It is the biggest lake in southern Europe and is located at the border of Albania and Montenegro. The most beautiful view you will have from a small road, where you can watch this colorful Horseshoe Bend.
I love Montenegro, what a beautiful country.
Meadows full of wild flowers up high in the Apennin mountains near the National Park of Tuscany and Emiglia Romana.
Life up here has a different rhythm. People drive up to the forest early in the morning to collect wild mushrooms, the meadows are busy with dogs being trained for hunting and everyone stops to say hello and are curious about what you're doing. This is the Italy I love!
I certainly like the slower pace of life... at least nowadays, lol....
In the beautiful Vienna city; i am just in love with how beautiful the country is planned. From buildings to railways , to vegetation, to water bodies etc. If i look far, i see mountains. I wish i Can have more than this in my hometown or city.
Incredible Vienna
Not only Vienna is incredible but also your image. Thanks for that.
Thank you for the moral boost @czechglobalhosts
You are also doing incredibly well
Strange architectural piece!
This building located in Paris seams like it's been cut in half. In the past a railway named "la petite ceinture" used to run along the left side of the building which explain its strange shape.
Location: Paris, France.
Burano is one of the most popular islands in Venice. And it is also one of the top 10 most colourful places in the world. You can see the coloured houses are all over this island which looks fantastic.
Beautiful sunset from the Santa Justa elevator, the views over the city were stunning but for some reason this photo is touches me more. Even though they charge to get on top of the viewing platform, it's so worth it!
The island of Nisyros (in Greece) is a dormant volcano, which means that it hasn't had an eruption for a very long time but it will probably have in the future and this is Nikia, a well preserved picturesque village, hanging above Stefanos, one of the biggest, most impressive and best preserved hydrothermal craters in the world!
My post about Nisyros island is here.
Awesome shot. The city looks so tiny.
Salute from Rovigno (Rovinj)
Rovinj is the most romantic town in Istria but also a tourist center as well as the Croatian "gay mekka". Recently the city government decided to forbid collecting of plastic bottles in the center which had both the ecological & the social impact so we went there to make a performance...
#activism #civil #disobedience
Amsterdam is truly a city for cyclists, although handling the little queen in this maze of streets can be a little ... chaotic! Stay on the march and you will not be disappointed. The charming little canals that wind through the city create an idyllic setting for exploring the Jordaan district and Rembrandtplein. Take a detour to the Red Light District to tell you that you went there. The visit of the house of Anne Frank will move you to the highest point. As for the Van Gogh museum, with its exceptional collection, it will delight all art lovers.
Europe - The peaceful continent
In my opinion, Europe is the most peaceful continent all over the world, as always. Although in recent years, there are many things affected it as terrorist, etc. But in my mind, Europe is always beautiful and peaceful as before.
This photo was taken in the port in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. At the sunset, people living here walking around the port, sitting down on the chair, looking at the sunset, combining themselves in the nature.
Everything look stunning, peaceful at the sunset. Hope that they can keep it forever.
Best,
The Tatra Mountains in Poland are the highest mountains in this country. I visited Western Tatras which are not so rocky as High Tatras but still you can have beautiful views and make some great hike. Because of crowds in this region I'm not going there during the season anymore, but June is perfect to go there :)

The amazing hills between Glasgow and Oban on the West Coast of Scotland called Rest and be Thankful, and what a place to rest and be thankful in!
Thank you for your entry. However, it does not meet the minimum word requirements and cannot be considered for the contest. Thank you for your understanding. Tomas
The beach in Iceland as seen from Dyrhólaey peninsula. The photo is NOT Black&White. The black sand originates from basalt lava that covers the whole area.
Interesting contest, my photography is from my smartphone (samsung galaxy s8+) mostly and sometimes I amaze myself with the quality it has.
Look at those cute fellas we met on our way from Spain. These are two Marmots begging for food. You can actually find a lot of them in the Alps. Their long front teeth make the almost look like beavers, but they are not living in water.
I know it's not a landscape, but I thought you might like them :)
Grindewald Switzerland, the view from the mountains was irreplaceable. Although my fear of heights almost never got me to take this photo from the cable car in which I was in, but it's no denying that was one of my life moments
Hello. Would you kindly provide an ownership to this image? Thank you so much for your understanding. Tomas
Taken during the hike to the top of the mountains
That´s terrific! Thank you so much for that. Tomas
Moments before the cable car, and also a different view but not all glamouring
For me is going to the beach always a nice way to relax. Just walking and free your mind.
10 days ago, my mother in law passed away. So, last week was a very sad and busy period. Now that the funeral is over, it was time to free our mind and so my husband and I went to the beach in Zeeland, The Netherlands. A lovely beachwalk with a beautiful sunset as a reward. It felt great.
I'm amazed with what a global city London is and the diverse cultures it posseses. This is the London school in the picture with people busy in their life living at their best.
The Wiener Riesenrad, what means Vienna Giant Wheel, is the dominant of Vienna amusement park called Prater. Riesenrad is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Vienna. Also its one of the symbols of Vienna, so you can find it on many postcards from that beautiful city.
Ahoj!
As I said last Thursday, I will try to post more from my home country Slovenia. So this time I am offering a view from very popular hill near Ljubljana called Šmarna gora. So close to our capital, but still pure green nature!
All Photographs are so beautiful.... Congratulations to all winners
Wow! Beautiful photography! Cool!!
All-time travel posts I love to visit. I love your post. Thank you very much.
Where in Europe was this taken? Your blog info says you are from Texas, but you made a post yesterday with a shot of the clouds in India that you say you was taken on the 23rd. Then on the 22nd, you posted a picture of a fly that you say was taken in Indonesia, but that picture was actually plagiarized. You also seem to have a new camera or phone to take your pictures with for every post you make. Something doesn't feel right about your posts....
@johnysins I would love to hear your explanations on that!
Wow! Serendipity! I'm going to Bologna this weekend :) Can't wait to see those towers with my own two eyes :D
@czechglobalhosts or anyone, can you please tell me how this contest works? Do I just need to post a photo in the comment below & write 30-50 word with or what...?
Yep. Your photo from the continent in question. :)
& the motives not necessarily need to be landscapes or cityscapes? I can submit all sorts of motive as long as it is taken in Europe?!
Yes, that is correct.
OK, thank you! I posted an entry - "Salute from Rovinj!" - have you seen it?!
Thanks!
Yes, that is correct.
