Our First 24 hours of Vegan Eating in Girona, Spain... Wow!

We arrived at 10.30pm on a Sunday night, not the best time to be spoilt for choice as vegans visiting Spain. I had a feeling our choices would be potatoes cooked in different ways. Luckily we also had the choice of pizza with no cheese or, as we chose in the end, a fancy burger place where Michael had a vegan burger and I a vegatable sandwhich. Of course we needed potatas bravas (with no sauce) too, and as it was still Michael's birthday and I am pregnant he had a litre jug of Sangria to himself!

We started our day with avocado, fried mushroom, onion and sautéed spinach on toast cooked by @cottonlazarus in our gorgeous gorgeous air b&b apartment. No photo but it was delish.

After a quick ice coconut milk latte from the hipster coffee house near our apartment we set off to explore Girona. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect it to be THIS beautiful!

The sun and walking got our appetites going just in time for finding the most incredible Vegan bar and restaurant, B-12.

Not only was this place vegan, it was also organic, super laid back and affordable.

These chocolate, cointreau truffles were mind blowing!!

After some more walking, a rest and shower in our apartment, we went out for some more exploring. I found the widest selection of moo free milk I've ever seen in an organic supermarket.

We were gutted to find our next vegan restaurant closed at 7.45pm when in their window and online it had said they open for dinner at 7pm. We had walked so far that we weren't in a hurry to leave. We hung about trying to form a new plan when the owner appeared and opened up for us.

It turned out that he had a client run on late so was opening at 8pm that day. Such is the laid back Spannish culture that a business would do that with no sign in the window. We were just over the moon that we hadn't got our hopes up for nothing.

Baked artichoke and potato skewers.

Some kind of saugage sandwich.

And saucey "meat" balls. Yuuuum!

Veganism at home or abroad can be challenge, but once you strike gold it is so rewarding! Food has never excited me much, I always thought it was a waste of time and money at worst, or a guilty pleasure at best. Now it excites me so much! I'm willing to try anything as long as it's vegan now, I was so fussy before.

We plan our holidays and days off around discovering new vegan places to support and enjoy. I feel like I am part of a movement and that motivates me to spend my money on good, ethically sourced food with no feeling of guilt. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. Life feels better in every way now. 🌱

I didn't know you could get so many different, nice looking food as a vegan!
My son can't eat / drink any cowmilk, eggproducts and we have been struggling sometimes while traveling.

Is your whole blog based on vegan food while traveling? I am not going to become a vegan (yet), but I might change the way we eat and I think this was really helpful for my son! Thanks!

I used to be a pescatarian until I became lactose intolerant after being ill in India 2 years ago. My husband was a meat eater although he never ate it at home. Once I cut out all dairy he did that at home too and after watching a few documentaries on Netflix he decided to go full vegan while I made the subtle transition from my no meat, no dairy diet.

My health improved instantly, obviously the pain of being lactose intolerant disappeared but so did my sinusitis. I used to have constant bloked noses and it would stop me breathing in my sleep. So getting rid of that was a lovely side effect. My skin is also the best it's ever been.

My top tip when planning your travels is searching on instagram because if people have tagged the location it will link you to a map and/or website. I chose to fly here after searching #vegangirona . I've found a lot of people share menu adaptions too so you can easily find places that are vegan friendly who don't necessarily advertise as such.

My blog is still forming now. I think it will just be about my life, what ever I'm doing. Mostly my life revolves around my pregnancy, my rescue dogs, art, travel and veganism. I hope you'll enjoy it all. :)

Nicely done. It all looks delicious and you have one bad-ass beard my friend.

He'll enjoy hearing that! Expect to see much more of that mustache, he's my main model that comes everywhere with me. :)

Looking forward to more pics! :)
