As I promised, today I will talk about the small villages on the crater rim of Nisyros.
The first village we visited is Emporios. It has 266 inhabitants and is located at about 250 m above sea level. It has been renovated with EU help and looks typically Greek.
Then we drove on to Nikia. It is also located on the crater rim at about 400m above sea level. But with its 61 inhabitants, it is a bit smaller. Also here you have a lot of renovations and you will find 2 small cafes (kafenion). We spent some time here and wandered around in the village.
The view into the crater is breathtaking. If you look to the south you can see Tilos on the horizon.
We spent some time here and wandered around in the village.
Then we went back to the harbor town of Mandraki. Whereby we made a short trip to the small fishing village Pali.
In Mandraki, we then went in search of a restaurant.
We found a beautiful place to eat in the shade of large trees. Since we have already seen the octopuses hanging on a leash, we have also opted for grilled octopus and deep-fried sepia. And these were delicious.
I hope you enjoyed the little excursion on this very Greek island. And I'll see you soon!

Wow, a Greek volcanic island. That sounds really neat! Hopefully it doesn't erupt any time soon. I love how those towns are built way up on the mountainside, those views overlooking the ocean from up there are beautiful!
Yes, @derekrichardson it's a great island and Nikia was awesome.
