As promised, the FULL VIDEO is up and ready for your viewing pleasure. It was a lot of fun, not only to make, but to look back at the whole drive. There are things I wish I had done better, like the border crossing....ugh, I felt so dumb after watching it again. I knew what I was supposed to do, and figured the instructions of how to do so would be so prevalent. But they really weren't, which led to some miscommunication between myself and border patrol.
Then there was the gas scare...besides the white knuckle drive in the mountains of Zacatecas, possibly running out of gas in the middle of BFE was probably the most scary realization of the whole drive.
The scenery overall was quite magnificent.
In the states, I'd say this massive cow ranch in Kansas was the most beautiful. Rolling green hills and gorgeous blue skies went on for literally miles and miles. Just when you thought it was over, it kept going, more cows, more hills, more skies...it was very peaceful and serene and I loved every minute of it.
In Mexico, it had to be the mountains of Saltillo and Zacatecas. They were huge, and to see villages and neighborhoods at the foothills of them, was really cool. The culture and way of life in each of the places we passed through was something else. This world is so big, yet can seem so small at the same time. It really put a lot into perspective.
The checkpoints/border crossings were not nearly as scary as some people have made them out to be.
I'm sure if you did have contraband, you would be sweating and would possibly relay your anxiety unknowingly to the border guards...but we had nothing to hide and honestly I think they thought it was funny....or that I was just an idiot gringo not knowing what I was doing. Overall they went fine, albeit took longer than I had anticipated, but no worries.
So to not keep you waiting, here is the video. It's 28 minutes long, so get comfy, grab some popcorn, and hopefully enjoy our travels.
Thanks for reading & watching.

And let me know your favorite part of the trip in the comments, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Much love y'all, peace.
Wow what a trip. I was scared watching you climb the mountain with those narrow roads and deep cliffs, without guardrails no less. You did great though, even the kids seemed to handle the ride well, they are adorable by the way. The video looked professionally done, nice job, I really enjoyed it. Had a few chuckles with you guys.
Best of luck with all of it, I will be watching out for your next update. God Bless!
We were just as scared! The kids I think were sucked into a movie on the flip down DVD screen, either that or glued to their ipads, I was too focused on driving to even look back and check. Man, what I would have given to have all that stuff for the road trips I took as a kid. The best we had was I spy, hahaha.
I'm glad you think it looked professional, I feel like I still have a long ways to go, but I'm happy with my progress so far.
Hopefully some more vids dropping soon for ya :)
Love it! One suggestion on the Youtube video...I notice many users usually comment and link places below and this also give you an opportunity to ask people to subscribe (soft sell) during the video. For instance. "We stayed at this amazing AirBnB blah blah blah. You can find a link to Andres place down below. While you're down there feel free to hit that subscribe button!"
Cant wait for the next post/video!
Good idea, not one that skipped my mind but, I didn't think of the additional opportunity to grab that subscriber.
The reason you hear...
Usually is because the OP has a big enough following where they qualify for referral links, and ads too.
I'm not quite there, lol, not by a good margin. So I haven't done any, find a link below, BUT, the subscriber soft sell is a good idea, and I will start to include that and links for said purpose.
Thanks for always having my back bro. Glad you loved the vid! Miss ya!

So you made it. the checkpoints had to be a little unnerving, especially with the language barrier. Nothing like getting an early start, avoiding traffic even if it means getting on the road while it's still dark outside is well worth a few extra hours of sleep. While you were driving on that one stretch of road, the one with no guardrails, I heard your wife tell you not to look, but if you did disobey her request you had to enjoy the scenery from that elevation.
The children seem to be traveling well, but once you arrive at your final destination you may have to bribe them to get back into the car.
Great to see that you had no major obstacles while traveling and it's a dam good thing you didn't run out of gas.
Stay safe and start to enjoy what brought you to Mexico, even if it was only for the Mexican food. 😁
WE MADE IT!!!
tbh, I wasn't really nervous at all. I had nothing to hide. The language barrier, if anything, imo, was actually a benefit. They don't wanna waste their time trying to talk to me, they see that we are a family with a ton of crap in our car. Not two young punk kids in a beater looking like we're up to no good.
I didn't hear him at the time, but the one guard at the Zac. crossing asked "destino?" meaning "destination?"...and I responded with "3 kids, yes" as he looked in the back...lol. He didn't care to push the issue and felt content that we were good to go and sent us on our way.
I took a few peeks over the edge on that drive, it was quite the drop. The video didn't really do the scare factor or the views much justice.
We are already enjoying the Mexican food...although you'll really get a kick out of my next video concerning that, hahaha.
Hope you and @farm-mom are doing well bud! Thanks for kickin' it with me!
