Today was an AWESOME day for
moms, dads, kids, teens and everyone up for a bit of fun!
It was the annual
SUMMER MUSIC COLOUR RUN
in Hermanus...
Run it, Walk it, Dance it....
is their slogan, which is pretty much what
"goes down" lol
Essentially it is a 5km walk/run/dance
filled with a lot of colour...
and awesomeness in general!
Once registered, you are given your
"race pack" which consists of your T-shirt, race number
and a few packets of the colour powder...
and OBVIOUSLY, getting the kids to contain it until the race starts
is well... IMPOSSIBLE!!! hahaha!
Within seconds, the packets are ripped open
and there is a LOT of powder...
EVERYWHERE!!!
Before the race starts,
there is a rather humorous "warm up" session
which always brings on quite a few giggles
because most of the participants of this run
are not massive sports fanatics...
they are just "everyday people"
So there is this
"semi-enthusiastic" approach to it,
which is probably regretted by most of us the next day! hahaha
(I know @amarbir will have an evil laugh at this! haha)
Over and above the warm up amusement,
there are the most INTERESTING peeps to see!
Dressed up in the most visually entertaining attire...
Even people's pets were a part of the party!
It is really is WONDERFULLY COLOURFUL!
The Race heads off in "wave" sections
because there are too many people to let everyone go at once...
This year, we were in wave two...
With the countdown done....
Off we went!!!
One of the the things that I enjoy most about this event
is the fact that as you move along the route,
there are music stations situated all the way
and we all KNOW how much I love my music lol!
and not only that,
it really keeps peoples spirit and enthusiasm up!
In addition to the pleasure of the tunes,
there are colour pop stations
situated all along the route,
where you literally get
BOMBED WITH COLOUR!!!
Protecting my phone whilst simultaneously
trying to take some decent photos
was rather challenging to say the least... lol
The views also really help along the way!
Hermanus is TRULY a spectacular little town!!!
We were also pleasantly surprised with a
drum band!
Approaching the end...
Here is some proof that I was in fact relatively doused
in... well, mostly ORANGE! hahaha!!
ooooh Look at that!!!!
It's the
FINISH LINE!!!!!
YAY!!! WE ARE STILL ALIVE!!!!
hehehehehe!!!!
Even though I don't normally drink any soft drinks,
I have to say that the Coca Cola
offered at the finish line was VERY welcomed! lol!
But more than that, I was interested in getting to the crowds
where Dave was pumping the music on centre stage
as they do multiple colour bursts
and dance off competitions etc.
It is REALLY an awesome thing to witness!!!
It REALLY was a FANTASTIC afternoon,
very well spent!
I was actually quite surprised too,
that my shoes were still relatively white afterward!
hahahaha!!!
When we got home,
the first thing we all did
was jump into the pool,
which I followed shortly after with a shower!!!!
YAY!!!!
Then we celebrated with some "after" shots...
much cleaner ones.... hahahaha!!!
and were spoilt to some delicious comfort food
compliments of Aunty Astrid...
SPAGHETTI BOLOGNAISE!!!
YUM!!!!!!
So... that was a wrap folks...
the 2017 Colour Run
done and dusted...
and the number to prove it ;) lol!
and how better to end the day
than with an EPIC sunset like this!!!!
Cheers folks!!!
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

Wowzers! Our eldest girl did a color run a few years back, and it was no where near as cool as this! I'm afraid to show her this post, because I bet she's gonna want to put SA on her travel destination wish list (and we already can't afford her list - LOL). Awesome photos as well - thanks for sharing some of the... local color... with us! 😃
hahahaha! She will have to start saving her Steemit earnings so she can come ;)
Reading this was heartwarming, nice one, well done
Thank you :)

Wow! That is just such an explosion of colour! What a superb family event too... the kids can get totally messy with abandon, and a great time for all ages!
Hahahaha!!! Yip.... that's their favourite part... although having said that - I must add that the adults are equally as enthusiastic about getting messy lol!

Awesome thank you for the heads up
Damn that looked a lot of fun. I also really, really enjoyed the scenery. Reminds me of a warm day in Asia :)
It was SO much fun!!! We did it last year too which was also great. As for the scenery, yes... it is an exceptionally beautiful part of the world.
Swap? You can have my grey backdrop of a murky town?
