Today A Palestinian Man Invited Me To His Home To Show Me How He'd Trained His Cat To Hide When The Israeli Airforce Drop Bombs On His Town. Where Is Our Humanity? Where Is The Kindness In This World? #2statesolution #savebambusthecat #illegalattacks
Absolutely soul-crushing and bitterly heartwarming. Tragic that he even has to teach his cat to hide when the bombs drop. Bitterly heartwarming because he loves his cat enough to train it to hide in hopes it won't be killed when the bombs drop.
I feel just as bad, if not more so for the man. He obviously loves his cat very much. He is so afraid of losing his companion that he taught his companion to hide.
That's not necessarily a bad thing. If you don't continue having the animal perform the "trick" their consistency in performing it on command goes down. (My Coon mix used to count to ten for treats. I'm having to work on getting him to do it consistently again because I stopped reinforcing his training for a long time.)
This world is absurd Sam. It is our purpose to take our kindness to these places to shine a light upon on them. Kindness is just love with its workboots on. Where are you working today?
I didn't even know you could teach a cat to do something like this. That is at least a positive thing....
Cats are pretty easy to train, actually. The problem is usually the person trying to train them.
I've trained my huge Coon mix to shake paws, speak on command, stand on his hind legs, jump, and a handful of other tricks.
Excellent news @novaatebatman - #safecat :)
I didn't believe him either - but cats do have an intuition for evil - these are illegal attacks under international law!
P.S. #illegalattacks
my God!
#illegalattacks!!!!

That image is now permanently fused in memory. When I left his apartment I must have cried in the street for 15 minutes. That poor creature!!

He lives with that painful fear every single day.
The sad thing was, he made the cat fear so I could take this picture :(

This is incredibly sad.

God bless that cat!
