The cold wind creeping into every pore of my skin, the sweet chirping of the birds, the green trees that are pleasant to my eyesight, welcomed us in the entrance of Forest Camp Mountain Resort in Valencia, Negros Oriental.
As my feet brought me inside the resort, the soothing sound of the flowing water caught my attention. It was the perfect sound I wanted to hear at that time. It was like music to my ear. The river has its own rhythm that took my stress away.
Forest Camp Mountain Resort is more or less 40 minutes away from Dumaguete City if you opt to commute (considering the waiting time for the jeepney to be filled with passengers) but if you have your rented vehicles, you can reach the resort faster. To commute, you take a pedicab going to Dumaguete-Valencia jeepney terminal at upper Sta. Rosa Street. You will be directed to the Valencia town proper. From the Valencia town proper, take a pedicab to Forest Camp. Pedicab and jeepney fares may range from Php 10 to Php 15 (more or less 0.2 USD to 0.3 USD). Entrance fees to the forest camp are Php 120 (more or less 2.4 USD) for adults and Php 100 (more or less 2 USD) for children aged 8 years old and under.
If you are looking for a unique swimming experience, Forest Camp is one of the best places in Valencia, Negros Oriental to visit. It has 9 cold spring swimming pools. These pools are designed like lagoons. And once you dip your bodies into these pools, you'll be relaxed.
Apart from the cold spring pools, you can also unleash that adventurous side of yours by trying their zip line which crosses the river and the swimming pools. Moreover, the resort has also a 30-foot climbing wall and a 25 by 25-meter skate bowl.
You may enjoy the resort on a day tour but it will be best if you spend the night in their cozy native cottages, and hammock houses for backpackers. Accommodation ranges from Php 400 to Php 2,000 (more or less 8 USD to 40 USD).
Never miss the opportunity to enjoy this paradise in Negros Oriental.
