The Sanskrit Letters on the Stupa for the Great Monk in Sin Reuk Sa Temple, Yeo Ju City, Korea

in #travel6 years ago

On the corner of the temple, there were 2 stupas not known who was the owner
Apparently, the style of the stupas was that of Goryeo dynasty. It showed me typical Goryeo stupa style

Interesting thing was the carved letters of Sanskrit language on the one of those stupas.

It was the first example Sanskrit letters were carved on the body of the stupa.

Sanskrit letters in Goryeo dynasty must be amazing incidents.
It meant that Goryeo dynasty accepted and contacted with Indian society through China.
Indian Sanskrit letters came across the vast Chinese land and finally got to the end of the continent.
The letters of Sanskrit were the evidence of the exchange of the cultures was very active than I thought

We humans used to write on stone, now we can write by digital and share across the world. I wonder how we humans will communicate in several thousand years...

Beautiful photography and post...my dear friend

Because of many unknown languages we may not be able to understand our ancient culture. Its really very bad

Of course, the Goryeo dynasty reckoned with the Chinese I even heard history that the Chinese empire dealt with the Goryeo dynasty hence the Sanskrit, amazing snap

@slowwalker, The corner stupa has unique design. It's attractive my mind. I never looked of the letters of Sanskrit language. It was carved middle of the stupa. Sanskrit letters seemed Indian culture came to Korean. Finally Goryeo dynasty carved for cultural affair. Your explain improve my knowledge. Thanks.

On the Brazilian coast there is a bit of Asian culture. I find it very beautiful and interesting.

It is difficult to imagine for us how far advanced people and culture was in the past, just when reading the fact of Sanskrit letters on Goryeo dynasty stupa, I recall the documentary that I saw yesterday about Taklamakan Desert, in North west China, where they found mummies from from the 3rd millennium BC and from investigations they are European origin. That means ancient European already were explorer if they could advanced so far East.

Honestly, I would probably not even notice them :-)
You have excellent vision and observation.
Thank you for interesting photos, @Slowwalker .

Sanskrit certainly develops in countries that have relations with India. In this case Korea got the influence of the Buddha who indeed came from India. if we search we will know that Buddhist influence extends to various parts of the world, including Korea through China.
in fact, in Indonesia Sanskrit grows and develops later into ancient Java and new Java.
interesting and enlightening photos of all.
Thank you @slowwalker
